[Bug 463684] Re: dpkg-reconfigure slapd wizard configuration isn't complete
Correct. This is because the slapd package has been updated in karmic. See bug 442498. [Bug 199992] Re: 1.3.4 beta won't get passed welcome dialog - 100% CPU
I booted off a Karmic live CD to test this bug again. Audacity pauses at the welcome screen for a long time, but this time it did in fact eventually allow me to close the dialog. For a second program was usable and I could see that after loading test.wav, it had created a few _hundred_ tracks, called test1, test2, etc.. I tried to scroll down to see how many tracks it had created but the program became unresponsive and the CPU is now running at 100% doing something, presumably swapping memory or something. Eventually the whole desktop started periodically freezing, and I had to manage to click on my terminal window and Ctrl-C the process in order to be able to finish this message. I think there is clearly an input bug in Audacity that is not properly validating a maximum number of tracks, or otherwise not realizing that the computer cannot handle the load demanded by this corrupt file. -- 1.3.4 beta won't get passed welcome dialog - 100% CPU https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/12 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 138586] Re: Gnometris controls very unresponsive when keys are held down
jal, which version of GNOME/Gnometris are you using? With 2.28, the graphics engine seems to have bin ported to OpenGL. The lagging graphics issue of previous versions seems to have gone with that version. But I noticed that the new OpenGL animation leads to a lag of some milliseconds that make it hard to get through the upper levels. I think this is not a bug, but by design. Still it might be nice to have an option to disable the animation to get more precise control. -- Gnometris controls very unresponsive when keys are held down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138586 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 468741] Re: Hidden SSID WLAN doesn't work under Ubuntu.9.10 - tested on Lenovo T500 and DELL
Just to confirm that I am also having problems with connecting to hidden wireless networks on 9.10, using a netgear MA111 usb wireless adapter. Strangely I can connect to my hidden network by creating a new connection (inputting the SSID and passphrase through network manager) but once I disconnect the only way I can re-connect is to restart the machine and create a new network (the one I created earlier just has a greyed connection button as others have described) Unfortunately my router is supplied by my ISP who have modified it so I can't unhide the SSID Craig -- Hidden SSID WLAN doesn't work under Ubuntu.9.10 - tested on Lenovo T500 and DELL https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/468741 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 297796] Re: vpnc issue with /etc/resolv.conf prevents connection
I believe this is the same root problem as I'm seeing in Karmic. The vpnc generated nameservers get added to the *end* of the resolv.conf list, rather than the beginning. Thus, nameserver requests for hosts reachable over the VPN connection fail because the non-VPN nameservers respond first saying that the address does not exist. A workaround is to reorder the entries in resolv.conf so that the vpnc generated nameserver is first. It is tedious to do this by hand every time one connects via VPN. This was not an issue in Jaunty (for me, at least). The real fix is to have resolvconf or whatever writes the resolv.conf file to put the vpnc generated nameserver first automatically. An even better fix would be to support split DNS for hostname resolution. -- vpnc issue with /etc/resolv.conf prevents connection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297796 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 474543] [NEW] Unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade to 9.10
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager Could not calculate the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report. [Bug 469470] Re: proprietary nvidia driver does not work under karmic
Hi Kai-Simon, The Xorg.0.log*s attached here are just showing the -nv booting session, which sounds like not what you're interested in. What we need are logs from an attempt to boot with nvidia installed. We'll need both the corresponding Xorg.0.log for that session (which may be called Xorg.0.log.old) and the gdm log file (found in /var/log/gdm/). One or the other of those should indicate why it is not loading nvidia. My guess is that you need to have the BusID specified for -nvidia, although if you're doing reinstalls of the driver it *should* do that for you. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- proprietary nvidia driver does not work under karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/469470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 474556] [NEW] Tools in 2.28.0 now must start with a shebang #! line.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit Tools in 2.28.0 now must start with a shebang #! line at least in Ubuntu 9.10 The shebang line must point to a shell. But... #!/usr/bin/perl seems to be an exception to that. There is no longer a procedure to simply pass files that don't start with #! to a default shell. That's understandable but it needs to be right up front as a significant change. Somewhere a #! line needs to get converted to an execve kernel call. Is gedit doing it? Or is gedit passing the task off to a shell? If so is gedit passing arguments in the #! line? If I try to put a call to, say, curl in the #! line the arguments are not handled well. In transfering control to tcsh my .tcshrc is getting called as a remote login which triggers a login message of my creation. That shouldn't be happening when gedit opens a new shell. Gedit seems to be setting environment variable $REMOTEHOST which is tested by my .tcshrc file. Bash shows essentially the same characteristics. [Bug 474555] [NEW] Double-declining depreciation does not prompt for salvage value
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gcalctool When using the calculator in Financial mode, pressing the Ddb button for Double-declining depreciation should prompt for Cost, Salvage, Life, and Period. The prompt for Salvage is missing, and therefore cannot be entered. Consequently, the calculation cannot be performed. If the user enters in the values for only Cost, Life, and Period, the following message is displayed: Error: the number of periods must be positive I have confirmed the bug in both Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10.
