[Bug 288052] [NEW] /etc/resolv.conf inserts commas between Search Domains

2009-11-23 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

My current Ubuntu release:
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

Current Package Version:
gnome-system-tools:
  Installed: 2.22.0-0ubuntu9
  Candidate: 2.22.0-0ubuntu9
  Version table:
 *** 2.22.0-0ubuntu9 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Additional Search Domain Names in gnome network settings do not work
after reboot, because a comma(,) is inserted after each search domain.

Steps to reproduce:

1. System-Administration-Network
2. Unlock the settings
3. Select DNS tab
4. Click add adjacent to search domains
5. Fill in field
6. Click close
7. ping a short name works
8. goto /etc/resolv.conf
9. Domain search names listed in the following format:
search domain.dom enterprise.dom local.dom

10. Reboot
11. Open System-Administration-Network
12. Go to DNS tab
13. Search domains appear correctly.
14. ping a short name doesn´t work
15. go to /etc/resolv.conf
16. Domain search names are now listed in the following format:
search domain.dom, enterprise.dom, local.dom

17. remove the added commas between the search domains and save file.
18. ping a short name works.

[Bug 483897] Re: Wrong STACK check with custom colors

2009-11-23 Thread Jürgen Kreileder
Here's a simple test plug-in. It just builds a stack from 3 constant
values. With the attached version, you'll get errors in /var/log/munin
/munin-graph.log:

[...] ERROR: First field (f2) of graph [...] b483897 is STACK. STACK can
only be drawn after a LINEx or AREA.
[...] ERROR: First field (f3) of graph [...] b483897 is STACK. STACK can
only be drawn after a LINEx or AREA.

If you remove the 3 colour lines from the script (i.e., if you let munin choose
the colors itself) the errors go away.
As said in the original report, the logic behind the STACK–LINEx/AREA test is
broken if fields have custom colors.

[Bug 487270] [NEW] improve wsdl stubs generation

2009-11-23 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Public bug reported:

For various reasons, the Ubuntu eucalyptus package is required to carry
a giant, machine generated patch providing WSDL stubs:

debian/patches/01-wsdl-stubs.patch
-rw-r--r-- 1 kirkland kirkland 14M 2009-10-07 10:15 01-wsdl-stubs.patch
  324708 1021262 14314930 01-wsdl-stubs.patch
 351 files changed, 322953 insertions(+)

This is non-ideal for various reasons.

We discussed two possibilities at UDS-Dallas:
   * package a subset of axis2 to be able to generate the stub during the build
process (proposal)
   * generate the stub as part of the upstream source release process

I believe that we loosely converged on the second of these two options,
for the Lucid cycle.

I'm opening this bug for the sake of tracking this work, and any further
discussions about the most appropriate approach.

[Bug 487280] [NEW] move the database away from hsql

2009-11-23 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Public bug reported:

It would be very nice if Eucalyptus could optionally use a database
other than the self-contained hsql.

Perhaps postgres, or mysql.

This is a wishlist bug, just listed here for the sake of completeness,
and/or discussion.

Per UDS-Dallas, the gobby notes stated:

 * Move the database away from hsql to something more stable:
  * ie, postgres, mysql, or ideally, a directory server
  * hsql has reliability issues (e.g. db deadlock issues)
  * hsql scalability
  * upstream says: in principle, there's no problem with hsql
   * other components in there (c3p0, hibernate, etc..)

[Bug 486495] Re: package slapd 2.4.15-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 2

2009-11-23 Thread diegoeche
Hi Chuck

I already fixed the problem. I found a compressed cn=config.ldif.gz
file. I uncompressed that file and then the removal didn't fail.

I guess that just adding the empty file won't work since it searches for
the PID in the file.

[Bug 469419] Re: KVM machines became corrupted after reboot

2009-11-23 Thread Tomasz Nowak
I've checked that and it doesn't make any difference.
I did a fresh Ubuntu 9.10 install on virtual machine and after reboot I've
installed firefox on it and the filesystem became corrupted.
Even if I don't use raw partitions I have the same issue.
Now I really thinking about giving up with qemu-kvm as I lost a lot of time
with it on 9.10.
Maybe it is time to return to VirtualBox as it always working well for me.
I wonder if x86_64 Karmic 9.10 has the same issue.

[Bug 486960] Re: Brasero disk burner won't get past Preparing to write.

2009-11-23 Thread Steve McGrath
I just had this very same thing happen to me. I'm not sure if you're
having the same issue or not, but here's what happened in my case:

Earlier, I had ejected a CD via the eject button, not through the UI.
The CD remained mounted, and still showed up in the Nautilus sidebar.
I tried to burn an Ubuntu disc and got exactly the result you're describing
here.
As soon as I unmounted the phantom CD, I was able to burn again.

Check and see if you still have a CD filesystem mounted, it'll show in
the nautilus sidebar. If not, then you're having a different issue and
we'll go from there.

[Bug 452790] Re: jamu.py crashed in Program._init_() from MythTV.py

2009-11-23 Thread georgaeie
I think this is the root of the problem:

 import locale
 locale.getlocale()
(None, None)
 locale.setlocale(locale.LC_ALL, '')
'nb_NO.UTF-8'
 locale.getlocale()
('nb_NO', 'UTF8')
 locale.localeconv()['decimal_point']
','
 locale.localeconv()['thousands_sep']
'\xc2\xa0'

It probably should have returned '.', I guess.

Georg

[Bug 486997] [NEW] ps-watcher package bad default ps-prog

2009-11-23 Thread Marcus Herou
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ps-watcher

Around line 335 in /usr/bin/ps-watcher you will find this snippet right after
installing
...
$opts{ps_prog} = 'no'; # Where is ps?
...

which of course will not work.

Changed it to:
$opts{ps_prog} = '/bin/ps'; # Where is ps?

which works.

I found it by issuing this so I can see all info in the foreground:

ps-watcher --config=/etc/ps-watcher.conf --syslog --nodaemon --sleep=10
--log --ps-prog=ps --debug=10

Please sync openmpi 1.3.3-3.1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
lpia is not supported in lucid ; dropping from Architectures = allows to sync
the package.

Changelog entries since current lucid version 1.3.2-3ubuntu1:

openmpi (1.3.3-3.1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Non-maintainer upload with the maintainer's permission.
  * Improve alternatives upgrade.

-0600

openmpi (1.3.3-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Removed mpiexec alternative, as discussed in #552429. It is now a slave
of the mpirun master alternative. Also raised the priority to 40, along
with MPICH2. Closes: #493876.

 -- Manuel Prinz man...@debian.org Wed, 11 Nov 2009 21:16:59 +0100

openmpi (1.3.3-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Removing ancient mpirun alternatives in preinst. Closes: #534740, #544372.
  * Build with BLCR support on supported architectures. The openmpi-checkpoint
package includes the binaries for checkpointing and documentation. Many
thanks to Alan Woodland for the implementation! Closes: #545919.
  * Added a README.source file.
  * Empty dependency_libs in .la files.

  * Fix installability of libopenmpi-dev on non-Linux architectures, where
libibverbs-dev isn't built (due to its being Linux-specific) by removing
the latter from the dependencies of the former for kfreebsd-* and
hurd-i386 (for reference, that was already done for Build-Depends).

the binaries in one or the other package), it is the solution that makes
the most sense from the user's POV. Closes: #551932.
  * mpich2: Suggest mpich2-doc instead of Recommending it. This avoids some
strange behaviour when installing mpich2 with LAM installed.
Closes: #551752.
  * Fix build failure on sparc: build with --with-atomic-primitives=no.
  * Update fPIC.patch: also fix FTBFS on sparc.
  * Add sizeofOPAptr-all.patch: fix FTBFS on powerpc.
  * Run the test suite using make testing during build. Can be
disabled with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck if it takes too much time.
  * New upstream release:
+ Drop sizeofOPAptr-all.patch, was a backport from upstream.
+ Drop fPIC.patch: fixed upstream.
+ Adds manpages for mpd*

Hmm , So vlc wont fix it and gnome-screensaver wants apps to use a different

I guess users just have to wait until someone compromises ;)

Anyone know a video player which can boost audio volume?
vlc seems to be the only video player which can boost audio volume to 400%.

[Bug 362484] Re: [LENOVO 1702WKF] (Thinkpad X60) suspend/resume failure

2009-11-23 Thread kellner
The problem has gone away. I didn't proceed scientifically, but here is
what I did, in the event it helps anyone with a similar issue:

Believing pulseaudio to be the culprit, I uninstalled it. Then the
laptop went into suspend properly, but wouldn't come out of it (screen
flickering, slightly different flickers depending on whether EXA or UXA
was used in xorg.conf). I enabled KMS, no change.

With the live-usbstick, suspend worked without any problems. I then
reset xorg.conf (attaching the current version) - surprise, suspend now
works great. So the problem seems to have been that I kept xorg.conf
from Jaunty.

I now reinstalled pulseaudio to confirm whether it really has to do with
it - suspend still works, so pulseaudio doesn't seem to have been the
issue to begin with.

[Bug 474550] Re: Karmic isn't able to shut down in my laptop, nor to switch on!

2009-11-23 Thread Martin
I think you’re right.

The error is the same and I think it’s the same cause.

But the consequences are different. If I’ve well understand you’re bug,
after upgrading (in fact, there we have made the same thing), your
computer switch on, but wasn’t able to launch the Xserver... But I think
a terminal was opened ?

In my computer, nothing works. The switching on raise a Kernel Panic and
nothing was launch.

But I think it’s the same cause.

Now, I’ve re-install Ubuntu (Karmic), but with an other version (amd64 and not
i386).
Now the system works perfectly well. I made a mistake of architecture when
first installing, but now it works.

I’ve seen in you’re bug that you’re in i386.
Maybe you’re computer is an amd64 ?
In that case, we could focus on that for the bug (?)...

Martin.

The problem you report is with the packages from getdeb.org. There is
no wesnoth-campaigns package and there is nothing we can do to fix
third-party packages. Please report your issue to the getdeb people.

Actually, I did that a while ago already and was told that they should
have fixed it in the meantime. Only thing I can suggest to you is to not
use third-party packages, things like this often can happen with them
and there is nothing we can do about it, sorry. Actually, there is, I
could a a conflicts with their wesnoth-campaigns package, but then this
would only work around a bug that isn't ours ...

 Thanks anyway! :)

2009-11-23 Thread kinkerl
This is the data from one of the two Laptops (both dont work so i think it
should be fine with only one).
I do think the problem has something to do with the parallel-to-usb cable. not
the cable itself but the driver support in karmic (do these cables need a
driver?!)

[Bug 483144] Re: [Karmic] Playing a certain video crashes Totem

2009-11-23 Thread chewit
Yes, I can play those videos fine as well. Must be a damaged video file
I was trying to play.

No bug then, unless the developers want to fix it so it doesn't crash,
but instead give an error.

Re: [Bug 486997] Re: ps-watcher package bad default ps-prog

2009-11-23 Thread Marcus Herou
Yup. It is very simple, it does not work :) (html-)Highlighted error cmd
below. no is the default ps-prog for some reason in my dist of hardy at
least.

Line numbers might not be 100% correct since I've added some debug print
statements but +- 1 or two rows.

Example wich does not work.
ps-watcher --config=/etc/ps-watcher.conf --syslog --nodaemon --sleep=10
--log --debug=10
*PS-CMD: no -e -o pid= -o cmd=*
11/23/09 09:38:39 ps-watcher[32233]: Starting: $Id: ps-watcher.in.in,v 1.57
2006/03/10 19:07:05 rockyb Exp $
Can't exec no: No such file or directory at /usr/bin/ps-watcher line 576
(#1)
(W exec) A system(), exec(), or piped open call could not execute the
named program for the indicated reason. Typical reasons include: the
permissions were wrong on the file, the file wasn't found in
$ENV{PATH}, the executable in question was compiled for another
architecture, or the #! line in a script points to an interpreter that
can't be run for similar reasons. (Or maybe your system doesn't support
#! at all.)

When I change row 335 from
$opts{ps_prog} = 'no'; # Where is ps?
to
$opts{ps_prog} = '/bin/ps'; # Where is ps?

I get this:
ps-watcher --config=/etc/ps-watcher.conf --syslog --nodaemon --sleep=10
--log --debug=10
PS-CMD: /bin/ps -e -o pid= -o cmd=
11/23/09 09:41:55 ps-watcher[32320]: Starting: $Id: ps-watcher.in.in,v 1.57
2006/03/10 19:07:05 rockyb Exp $

= perfect

You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber
 of the bug.

Status in “ps-watcher” package in Ubuntu: New

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: ps-watcher

Around line 335 in /usr/bin/ps-watcher you will find this snippet right
 after installing
 ...
 $opts{ps_prog} = 'no'; # Where is ps?
 ...

which of course will not work.

 Changed it to:
 $opts{ps_prog} = '/bin/ps'; # Where is ps?

 which works.

I found it by issuing this so I can see all info in the foreground:

 ps-watcher --config=/etc/ps-watcher.conf --syslog --nodaemon --sleep=10
 --log --ps-prog=ps --debug=10
