[Bug 499394] [NEW] ntp server didn't support mssntp
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ntp Current version of ntp (4.2.4p6+dfsg-1ubuntu5.1) in ubuntu do not support MS SNTP extension. This extension is needed by Windows workstation in order to trust ntp source from AD server. Lately the Samba project made great improvement in the next version of Samba: Samba4 which is supposed to be a real replacement to Microsoft Active Directory. In order to act completely as an Domain Controller the Samba4 server must be able to act as a ntp server with the MS SNTP extension. Version 4.2.6 of ntp (released on 12/12/09) now include patches for allowing this extension but must be complied specifically with the option --enable-ntp-signd to effectively build this extension. Building this extension do not mean that it wil be active by default, in fact it has to be opted in by adding the following directive to ntp.conf: restrict foobar mssntp Where foobar is either default or a network address. ** Affects: ntp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ntp server didn't support mssntp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/499394 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to ntp in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 410723] Re: not expunge evolution mail inbox or junk mail folders
Here is also a workaround in Evolution FAQ: http://www.go-evolution.org/FAQ#Why_do_I_get_an_error_.22Summary_and_folder_mismatch.2C_even_after_a_sync.22.3F Why do I get an error Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync? If you get an error pop up like: Error while Expunging folder. Error storing `~/.evolution/mail/local/Inbox (mbox)': Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync.. Try the following operations: * Stop evolution completely with the command evolution --force-shutdown * Remove the corresponding files with the file ending .ev-summary and .ibex.index, in this example you should remove the file ~/.evolution/mail/local/Inbox.ev-summary and ~/.evolution/mail/local/Inbox.ibex.index. * Restart evolution, it will be slow to come up because it recreates the indexes. [Bug 499381] [NEW] Multiple prompts to install language packs that weren't on the CD
Public bug reported: Version: Karmic. Steps to reproduce: 1) Disconnect the computer from the network. 2) Start a Karmic installation from the CD. 3) Choose Finnish as the main language. 4) Accept all other install options as the defaults. 5) After installation, reboot. 6) Observation point #1. 7) Shut down the computer. 8) Connect the computer to an Ethernet network that routes to the Internet. 9) Boot. 10) Observation point #2. 11) Install all automatic updates. 12) Reboot. 13) Observation point #3. 14) Go to the language selector menu and set all languages to Finnish. 15) Reboot. 15) Create another admin user. 16) Log out. 17) Log in using the newly-created account. 18) Observation point #4. 19) Accept all language file installations that are prompted. 20) Log out. 21) Log in as the user whose account was created during the installation. 22) Observation point #5. Actual results: At observation point #1, the system alerts that due to the lack of a network connection the language files for the selected language weren't installed and they can either be installed by pushing a button on the dialog or later by going to such and such menu. Once the computer is rebooted connected to the network at observation point #2, the prompt does not automatically reappear. Going to the indicated menu at observation point #3 does not cause the files to be installed when switching the language from English to Finnish. Logging in as a newly-created user, the language file prompt appears twice at the same time. At observation point #5, the same prompt appears again to the original user even though the other admin user already installed the files twice. Expected results: Expected the system to prompt to install the language files at the first opportunity when the network is connected and the logged-in user is an admin user. Expected the prompt to appear as only one instance at a time. Expected not to have to manually re-choose Finnish. Expected the language pack installation to take effect for all users and the other users not to be reprompted. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Multiple prompts to install language packs that weren't on the CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/499381 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 486154] Re: System beep broken in Karmic despite heroic efforts to fix it
Oy. I know this is probably going to be an unpopular discovery, but I am no longer sure this is necessarily a metacity bug. The problem is, then, whose bug -is- it? I just spent a couple hours hacking around in the metacity source code doing things like commenting out XkbSelectEvents and XkbChangeEnabledControls calls in core/bell.c's meta_bell_init, and finally going so far as to #undef HAVE_XKB in that file and display.c. I could pretty easily cause backspace on an empty line to emit -nothing- (on either the motherboard speaker or line-out), but I couldn't get the functionality I wanted (namely, the old functionality of X bell on motherboard speaker). [Obviously you have to killall metacity restart it and/or log out in to see changes, etc.] Finally it occurred to me to just rename /usr/bin/metacity to a random name, log out, and then log in again. I got an endless spinny cursor because something was trying but failing to start the metacity process, but could still start a terminal window and still got silence on empty- line backspace. [The beep command works as always, but that's a completely different mechanism, etc.] I also tried this from a cold- boot, just in case; same behavior. So while it looks like metacity can correctly snarf up X events so you can get -some- sort of bell, something other than metacity is grabbing and/or killing them, since even if metacity isn't running, there's no bell of any sort on an empty line (and presumably xkbbell would also be silent; i didn't test it). Yet this works without X and in an xterm started via xinit (see my giant table), so what's stealing these events? Some other part of gnome? Aargh. But at this point, I don't think I can file a bug against metacity for this, except to cause the metacity developers to maybe point their fingers at the real culprit... P.S. It -is- disturbing that meta_bell_set_audible is a complete no-op (no lines of code), and the comment in bell.h that meta_bell_shutdown is never called also gives me pause---I wonder if -that- is why I was getting different results based on whether xkbbell had -ever- run, since boot (see my giant table again), which smelled of something failing to clean up its state. But the fact that this seems broken even if metacity had never run makes me think it's not metacity's fault (and I suspect the xkbbell stuff is its own state-restoration issue.) -- System beep broken in Karmic despite heroic efforts to fix it https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486154 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 499388] [NEW] flash-alternative player often blocks/hogs all input

[Bug 496623] Re: nfsroot not working anymore in 9.10
SteF, One or more of the mounts listed in /etc/fstab cannot yet be mounted: (ESC for recovery shell) /home:waiting fr hal9000:/home This looks a lot like a typical dependency loop between the network being fully configured, and /home being mounted so that the boot can continue. Is hal9000 the same machine as 192.168.101.199? If not the same machine, are the two machines both on the same local segment with the client? How are your network interfaces managed from within the system - is NetworkManager running, or do you have configuration options set in /etc/network/interfaces? -- nfsroot not working anymore in 9.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
