[Bug 456808] Re: Karmic-Networking (SAMBA) just does not work, even with detailed attention.
Well I'm having the same problem with Samba; loaded on an Ubuntu-server, trying to connect to a windows 7 netbook and a Kubuntu desktop machine. This was setup and worked until recently. Now I have no connection to my Windows 7 netbook. My Kubuntu machine connects to the server via a very reliable NFS connection. I've cleared IP tables on the server, wrote a new smb.conf file and re-installed samba all without any connection. findsmb shows nothing from my kubu machine but running (on the server) smbclient -L shows shares listed on the server. Testparm the smb.conf with no errors - clients simply do not see the smb server!! [Bug 502039] [NEW] Konqeuror suggestions list in wrong place (two monitors)
Public bug reported: Using Kubuntu 9.10 (Karmic), Konqueror 4:4.3.2-0ubuntu3 I have two monitors with twin view, nvidia GeForce 9500 GT, driver version 185.18.36. Window manager is compiz. Steps: 1) Open Konqueror. 2) Put it on the secondary monitor. 3) Go to a website with an input field you've typed into before (say gmail). 4) Start typing, it will suggest the things you've typed before in a list. 5) The suggestions list opens in the edge of the primary monitor instead of in the appropriate position in the secondary monitor. [Bug 468358] Re: PulseAudio and multiple users logged in at the same time
I can confirm this bug happens on a new Karmic install. I do Switch User... and log in as another user, and that user gets no access to the sound card. The device is not listed by System/Prefereces/Sound. I have a similar related problem I want to solve. Blind users run speakup, which starts as soon as the speakup_soft module is loaded. Speakup starts pulseaudio as user speech-dispatcher, which grabs the sound card, making it unavailable to any user logging into gnome. This really sucks for blind users. -- PulseAudio and multiple users logged in at the same time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/468358 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 88746] Re: ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices
I've also got this problem with a Freecom 160Gb USB drive Model (SSJABA), known as the Freecom Mobile Drive XXS, it is USB2. If it is correctly detected by Karmic (also an issue with earlier versions of Ubuntu), it is very slow in reading and writing files (USB 1.1 Speed rather than USB2) when compared to a 80Gb Buffalo MiniStation USB disk I also have. I've experienced problems on some NEC, VIA (all), and Alcor USB2 controller chipsets, although with Intel I've not had a problem but this is probably because my only Intel USB controller is USB1.1! Dropping back to USB1.1 drivers fixes the problem but is unworkable with high capacity devices. -- ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88746 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 459586] Re: Karmic: OV2640 Webcam no longer works (Inspiron 1520)
Just reporting that I had similar issue... I upgraded (with a clean install) from 8.04 to 9.10 last week... the first 2 days my webcam (OV2640 on Dell Inspiron 1720) worked fine with Skype and for no apparent reason it just stopped working. Skype would place a grey box where my camera view should be and there was no light indication that the webcam was on. When opening the Skype video menu it said No device found for the webcam. Today, out of the blue, I checked again with Skype and it is working fine again... all I have done since then and now, has been to type lsusb in the terminal to find the model number. Noob question follows: Could it have something to do with the webcam software/driver not being fully released on shutdown? -- Karmic: OV2640 Webcam no longer works (Inspiron 1520) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/459586 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 502055] [NEW] screen freezes after working for awhile but cursor still moves around
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: yelp SUMMARY: screen freezes after working for awhile but cursor still moves around. This bug was reported previously and relates to bug number 497179 with the following details: DETAILS: Hi, hope someone can help out. I have Ubuntu 9.10 upgraded from 9.04 and running dual boot parallel with XP Windows (which is not experiencing the same problem, so not a hardware fault). I start up and work for awhile and eventually the screen stops responding to the cursor, so I have to switch off power and reboot to continue. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this problem? CURRENTLY: I overlooked important instructions in the rush before Christmas - so I am now following them again as closely as possible. In reply to the instructed questions: The source package (as I understand it) is to do with this upgraded version. 1) the release is currently 9.10 2) the response to this command is 'W: Unable to locate package packagename'. I don't know what to check for in Synaptic?? INTERRUPTION!! - the screen keeps freezing as I attempt to complete this information so I will send now and add to it later if I can. [Bug 238183] Re: Useless memory consumption
In Karmic, I can confirm that the -m Platform script does not die after 3 minutes, consuming 10MB until reboot. I'll give a look at this problem. Though, you mention in the description that there's a 90MB usage on first launch. I guess this comes from the package installation, isn't it? If that usage disappears after it's done, then that part is not a bug. ** Changed in: system-tools-backends (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Triaged ** Changed in: gst Status: New = Confirmed -- Useless memory consumption https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238183 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
