[Bug 357994] Re: Running mount.cifs without any parameter crashes with SIGSEGV in main()

2010-01-31 Thread RD
Hello

I fixed it. The argc value was not tested before accessing argv[] values.
There was a if (argc 3) mount_cifs_usage() fix.

[Bug 514883] Re: dialog-based applications seem sluggish

2010-01-31 Thread AlainKnaff
The problem also exists for bash commandline. Cursor keys are handled
with a one-second delay (approx.), whereas other keys are handled
immediately.

My previous interpretation was apparently wrong: the problem is not
related to any output that the program performs in reaction to receiving
the cursor key, but rather to the reception of the cursor key input
itself.

could you provide versions of Ubuntu you are running and version of

2010-01-31 Thread lexsimon
Hi and thank you for answering :),

Sorry, I thought I gave the Ubuntu versions : I tried 8.04 and 9.10.
The thing can be reproduced using a fresh 9.10 server installation + OpenSSH
server profile and additional php5-cli package (5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.4). I
didn't tried without SSH because I always use it but I do think there is some
dependency ?

I give the packages from the 9.10 install as attachment (packages.txt).

Hope you will be able to find something because compilation stuff is not
my specialty and I have a lot of PHP business logic that is behind this
completion and makes the tool I code very more usable ...

 Hello,

I first tried to post : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8734334 and
after recompiling from php.net sources, I'm now convinced there is something
wrong in patches that are applied or in some compilation option.

Goal : complete the command line ./myscript.sh.
 Steps :
 - create die.php, completion.sh and myscript.sh in current folder using the
 following code sample
 - chmod 755 myscript.sh
 - source completion.sh in current bash
 - try to complete ./myscript.sh : it works
 - uncomment die.php call in completion.sh
 - source completion.sh again
 - try to complete ./myscript.sh : it does not work. A simple call to php
process breaks the thing. Only with ubuntu PHP packages (tested on 8.04 and
 9.10 releases ;

[Bug 515274] [NEW] Latest Stable is 5.0.0

2010-01-31 Thread COLIN Stéphane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bacula

Hi,

Can you please upgrade the package to the latest official stable version
?

Here is the Changelog from http://www.bacula.org/en/?page=news

Changes since 3.0.3a (the last Bacula Project release):
---

Bug fixes:
1337 1351 1352 1354 1357 1361 1367 1369 1370 1373
1376 1391 1403 1409 1420 1422 1427 1428 1431 1450
1454 1455 1458 1456

Fixed:
 - Problem that locks the Director when the SMTP server wasn't
   responding to the bsmtp program
 - Restore's dir command shows incorrect file sizes
 - Fix various problems with the reload command
 - Fix problems with conio
 - Eliminate several deadlocks or potential race conditions from SD

Enhancements:
 - Project 5: Truncate volume after purge
 - Project 6: File Deduplication using Base Jobs
 - Project 10: Restore from Multiple Storage Daemons
 - Project 11: AllowCompression per Device
 - Project 23: Add Maximum Concurent Jobs for Devices to balance load
   between drives
 - Add Accurate Fileset Options to configure accurate detection. Can use
   checksum verification for example.
 - Allow FD to keep root read but drop write permission (CAP)
 - Secure handling of passwords for catalog backup
 - Add Tab-completion for Bconsole when using Readline
 - Add Bvfs API to query the catalog without building a memory tree
 - Add new speed test to btape program
 - Add new Bat screens (Autochanger content, Job view, Media view, ...)
 - Windows version of Bat
 - Added Spanish Bacula translation
 - New bconsole -u nnn option to have timeout on commands
 - Allow Migrate, Copy, and Virtual Full to read and write
   to the same Pool
 - show disabled -- shows disabled Jobs
 - Add Pool File and Job retention periods (take precedence over Client)
 - Many ACL improvements
 - Level added to FD status Job entry
 - Allow turning on/off Block Checksum per device
 - Set Device Poll interval to 5 minutes -- previously did not poll
 - Implement lock manager with bad order protection

Compatibility:
As always, both the Director and Storage daemon must be upgraded at
the same time, and on any given machine, you must run only one version
of Bacula. This means that on the Director and Storage daemon machines,
you *must* upgrade your File daemon as well.

Older 3.0.x and possibly 2.4.x File Daemons are compatible with the 5.0.0
Director and Storage daemons. There should be no need to upgrade older File
Daemons immediately. However, we recommend that you do so as soon
as is reasonable for your situation.

A++

[Bug 515025] [NEW] upgrade failed, probably too little /boot space. Can send further if needed

2010-01-31 Thread capinot
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: initramfs-tools

New Install of 9.10 server with lvm on raid1. Used 64bit server iso the
first time, alternate 64bit the second and subsequent tries.

Had 44Mb /boot (what was assigned automatically on the first try before
a disk failure (unrelated to this report).

After install ran update manager - downloaded 200+ updates All but the
last installed w/o problems.

got:

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the
problem
E:_cache-open() failed, please report.

dpkg log quit at:
status half-configured initramfs-tools 0.92bubuntu53

I managed to work around by rm'ing previous 2.6.31-14 vmlinuz and initrd.img to
free up /boot space and then:
'dpkg --configure -a' went to completion.

Soo need to check for disk space before trying to upgrade initramfs-
tools with new kernel image.

When this happened the first time, I rebooted and came up with no file
system (almost none) and shell, but w/o any log files or othe pointers
didn't know where to go. So did complete re-install, only to find the
same problem.

Luckily, I persisted and figured it out this time.

[Bug 515024] [NEW] Regression: Loss of text-based location bar in 2.29

2010-01-31 Thread seanlano
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In previous versions of Ubuntu, it was possible to click on the small pencil
icon in Nautilus and then type the path you wanted to go to, rather than have
to click through all the folders.
In Lucid Alpha 2 with Nautilus 2.29, this icon (and therefore this
functionality) is gone.
There should at least be an option in the Nautilus preferences to show the
icon, if so desired. This functionality is very useful, and is a big regression
to have it removed.
See attached screenshots for a graphical representation.

[Bug 499940] Re: [lucid regression] does not resume from hibernation, restarts fresh

2010-01-31 Thread ibidem
The resume=/dev/sda* method works for me; I added it to /etc/default/grub and
ran update-grub to make it permanent.
Essentially it would just be a small tweak in the setup scripts to fix,
specifying one more kernel option.

I do see fsck running (recovering journal) when I resume, even though resume
is working properly.
It's in the boot messages on tty1.

[Bug 509079] Re: nautilus has tabs on bottom

2010-01-31 Thread seanlano
I think this is a bit of a regression. Why would this be changed? I know
the extra pane has been added, but to move tabs from the top to the
bottom is a long way! At the very least this should be customisable in
the Nautilus preferences.

Seriously, having the tabs at the bottom of the screen is like having
the tabs on manila folders at the bottom of the filing cabinet drawer.
It just doesn't make sense, when you're changing tabs you're probably
going to be changing the file path at the same time, and having to move
to the bottom of the screen is stupid and time-consuming.

[Bug 201887] Re: Slim USB Apple Keyboard not working correctly when pressing the numlock key

2010-01-31 Thread Max Waterman
Hey guys...I'm seeing a very similar problem to this bug. I'm using
karmic with latest updates on a 'regular' PC and an Apple bluetooth
keyboard. This keyboard has no number pad at all and is very much like a
laptop keyboard (which is what I select in the 'keyboard' preferences).

The symptoms are :

1) I can log in ok without having to do anything special, but
2) once logged in, it behaves as if the keyboard has been put into a number
mode, so some of the letter keys actually produce numbers on the screen

Pressing fn-f6 twice fixes the problem, but I would like to avoid having
to do this.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Max.

[Bug 515027] [NEW] Totem can't play HUFF videos

2010-01-31 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I'm sure that i could play FFVHUFF encoded videos with Totem before, but
now in Karmic something doesn't seem to work. I get the error that codec
is not found.

I have created a 5 second video file for testing purposes, it doesn't
play on my system on Totem, but plays perfectly fine with VLC. It's
encoded with ffmpeg with the FFVHUFF codec.

[Bug 366728] Re: LD_LIBRARY_PATH not loading from .profile nor /etc/environment

2010-01-31 Thread Hendy Irawan
It seems the proper way to add to LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not by using that
env anymore, but by using ldconfig and /etc/ld.so.conf.d/*.conf files.

1. Add the ld.so configuration file :

echo /opt/qt-mobility-src-1.0.0-tp2/install/lib | sudo tee
/etc/ld.so.conf.d/qt-mobility.conf

2. Update the cache

sudo ldconfig -v

Now the libraries are in your ld library path.

No messing with /etc/environment. And if you later decide to uninstall
the libraries, just remove the conf file and run sudo ldconfig again.
Cleaner solution for me.

I just wonder if this is also portable to other distros beside Ubuntu?
(since LD_LIBRARY_PATH supposedly works on all Linux distros)

See http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-
Lists/Ubuntu/2008-02/msg02742.html for rationale.

AFAIK LD_LIBRARY_PATH is unset in ubuntu, since the libraries are all
where they should be:)

there are a number of intermixed issues, affecting different packages.
Once you've collected the information and confirmed and pinpointed the
kernel bug you should report a ticket at http://bugzilla.kernel.org and
post a link to the created ticket here.

I have uploaded an older version of mesa to my old PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~gomyhr/+archive/old/+packages . By testing this,
we can find out if this is caused by a bug in mesa which is introduced
after version 7.5.

Geir, I tested the older mesa package, but I got freeze.
As a result, there are no change with older mesa.

[Bug 515033] [NEW] ubuntu one constantly adding my computer again and again

2010-01-31 Thread suniyo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

When I boot my ubuntu machine Firefox starts automatically and ubuntuone
client contects to web interface and adds my computer to the added
computer list. I have same computer added with so many different names
automatically. This problem is with client and not the server I think,
and it doesn't work even after new computer account is added. Tried to
remove all of the accounts added automatically and it still is not
working.

[Bug 515041] [NEW] fusermount of fuse-utils 2.7.2-1ubuntu2.1 (hardy) fails to unmount sshfs

2010-01-31 Thread Daniel Eckl
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fuse-utils

Hi!

This seems to be a regression. On Jan 30, using fuse-utils
2.7.2-1ubuntu2, everything works fine, I mount a remote system using
sshfs and unmounting via fusermount -u mountpoint

On Jan 30 I installed the upgrade of fuseutils and libfuse2 to version
2.7.2-1ubuntu2.1

Since then, fusermount -u mountpoint fails with this error message:
fusermount: failed to clone namespace: Operation not permitted

I was not able to find this phrase anywhere in the net using google.

Downgrade to 2.7.2-1ubuntu2 fixes the problem.

I hope that this is not somehow connected to the fact, that my affected
machine is a OpenVZ vserver (Strato Hosting in Germany). With this
technique, by server does not have kernel and modules in the visible
file system, so perhaps it's a mismatch between fuse-module and fuse-
utils?

[Bug 92296] Re: Low quality of text rendering in Evince

Hello everybody,

I posted some time ago a font redering problem with evince/poppler, see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/+bug/419715. It turns
out that all the examples in the present post are displayed properly for
me, yet the pdf in the bug report mentioned is still hardly readable. It
happens very frequently to me, and I need to switch to xpdf, which works
fine. For instance, I took a random article today just to check, and the
first I tried did not work properly, see
http://projecteuclid.org/DPubS/Repository/1.0/Disseminate?view=bodyid=pdf_1handle=euclid.cmp/1158328654.

[Bug 507673] Re: No TTYs are usable

2010-01-31 Thread John Vivirito
Please do not set a bug back to new. Leave it incomplte/confirmed/ect...
changing back to new is making it a step back, it needs to be confirmed
still be confirmed. Your problem seems more like the bug you left above,
Using nv drivers you are seeing th TTY's were as i dont see them using
nv drivers

Leaving it marked as incomplte it needs people to confirm the same bug.
or at least find a dup upstream? i will ping one of the devs some time
in next week or so.

Updated importance to medium since if X crashes or doesnt start we need
a way to get it back and running.
