[Bug 569394] [NEW] Can't use kvm -curses with virtual or ec2 kernels
Public bug reported: Hi I'd like to run kvm -kernel kernel file -hda UEC image -append /proc/cmdline stuff but this fails badly with both the EC2 and Virtual kernels. [Bug 562146] Re: Integrate nagios users with system ones
I was sure that libpam to acces shadow uses some suid helper program. So i was wrong about it... There is a suid helper program in pam_unix, called unix_chkpwd. But for obvious reasons it only allows to check the password of the current user, which is in turn used by programs like gnome-screensaver to verify the password. [Bug 566792] Re: UEC guests sometimes fail on consuming user data (metadata service isn't ready)
more testing has led me to the following: a.) I cannot reproduce the 200 OK response with empty metadata that we see in the data center rig on my own hardware. That is still an issue. b.) It appears that in all my tests the metadata service eventually *does* come up. On average in my tests (hundreds if not thousands), the metadata service is up after less than 10 seconds. However, in cases where it is not it doesn't seem to come up until something around 2 minutes. The solution to 'b' from the instances perspective is to simply retry for much longer than we initially were (which was ~ 30 seconds). this is quite problematic for any sort of automated testing, because you essentially cannot call a system failed for several minutes. Both my tests and mathias' tests give up after less than a minute of unreachability and call the instance failed. We may have to redesign tets to accomodate this. I will also say, though, that I've not seen a single case of metadata service not available on ec2 in the past 9 months. They seem to have fixed that issue that was present previously. I plan on putting some better code in the wait for metadata service, complete with waiting (indefinitely) for a non-empty value in instance- id (which would work around the 200-OK failure, and give us a chance to catch it an debug when it does fail). -- UEC guests sometimes fail on consuming user data (metadata service isn't ready) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/566792 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

So, I've just had the same problem, though changing the Options (to either 'Indexes' or 'All') doesn't solve the problem for me. This is a fresh install of munin, on a system freshly upgraded to 2.6.32-21-server running x86_64. I had changed the permissions on the /etc/munin/apache.conf to read: Allow from localhost 127.0.0.0/8 192.168.1.1/24 ::1 ... so I could see the data from another host on my internal LAN. The page delivered, however, is just blank. Selecting 'view source' gives me an empty window (no source). At first I assumed it was an apache config issue, even if I couldn't find anything wrong, but copying the munin 'index.html' file to 'test.xx' and requesting the url http://192.168.1.201/munin/test.xx resulted in the file being downloaded correctly to the desktop. Similarly, requesting http://192.168.1.201/munin/localdomain/localhost.localdomain/cpu-day.png shows me a graph that does update in real-time if I re-request it, so the system is working, it's just not showing me the graphs by default. [Bug 569311] [NEW] Unable to sort by Artist then Song Name
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: banshee When you sort your music by the artist column, the album name is always used as the secondary sort field, followed by track number, even if those columns are not being shown. This makes the songs seem to be sorted randomly for each artist, since the song names are not taken into account by the sort algorithm. For example, with only the artist and track name columns showing, you would see the following: ARTIST | NAME Guns N' Roses | Patience Guns N' Roses | Don't Cry Guns N' Roses | November Rain That appears to be sorted incorrectly, and only seems ok when the other columns are also visible, example: ARTIST | ALBUM | NUMBER | NAME Guns N' Roses | G N' R Lies | 5 | Patience Guns N' Roses | Use Your Illusion I | 4 | Don't Cry Guns N' Roses | Use Your Illusion I | 10 | November Rain Perhaps Banshee should automatically ignore hidden columns when sorting, or maybe just allow the user to specify a sort variable, such as %A - %T to sort by artist then track name. I am using Banshee 1.6.0-1 on Lucid (pre-release), but I've noticed this since I started using Banshee, several releases back. ** Affects: banshee (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unable to sort by Artist then Song Name https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569311 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I also have an travelmate 5315 that shuts down suddenly every now and then. The fan seems to work fine. Infact it is spinning continuous. The notebook starts to react slow and just powers off. I opened the laptop and replaced the thermal compound but it didn't fix the problem. Under system profiler, the TZ01 sensor reads 99 degrees celcius, but the status can only updated after reboot. Re: [Bug 475826] Re: [FUJITSU SIEMENS Amilo A Series] suspend/resume failure
Hi! The bug exists in latest 10.4rc and upstream kernel. I think it is quite specific for this a1630 and it has something to do with network (manager/hardware): it loses the wireless options and it seems it hangs the system a bit (and when upstream kernel boot, it complains about memory problems) My computer is so old and I can live with it. I think it is waste of time to try to find this minor problem (if it is not a theoretically interesting :) The 10.4 seems quite nice! Boot ( reboot) time reduces nearly factor 0.5 (just feeling so (and that is enough), I have no measured it :) br Teuvo 2010/4/23 Jeremy Foshee jeremy.fos...@canonical.com Hi Teuvo, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 475826 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bacula ubuntu 10.04 LTS I did an upgrade from karmic 9.04 to to Lucid 10.04. After upgrade mysql became corrupted it wouldn't start and removing became difficult I updated some of the system files last night and added the bacula-director package The package needed to communicate with mysql server which has been corrupted : it asked for the password to the mysql server which cannot start the mysql in any case. [Bug 458071] Re: crashes in gcompris Assertion '!in_worker(m)' failed at pulse/thread-mainloop.c:161, function pa_threaded_mainloop_stop().
BrowneR: Thanks for helping out. Unfortunately, the backtrace you provided is not similar enough to the original error; this is a SIGSEGV related to opening a directory in nautilus, the original error is an assertion failure in pulseaudio. Now a memory overwrite could cause almost anything to happen. If you're skilled enough, you could either try running pidgin under valgrind and see if that helps finding a memory overwrite. Otherwise, we have two separate bugs here. -- crashes in gcompris Assertion '!in_worker(m)' failed at pulse/thread-mainloop.c:161, function pa_threaded_mainloop_stop(). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 568779] Re: 10.04 rc livecd boots into black/blank screen (intel 82852/855GM graphic card)
As for me, the RC live CD image downloaded this morning (GMT 2:00 AM 4/24) CAN boot into KDE desktop (although the bootsplash is an ugly Ubuntu 10.04 text) on my Lenovo S10-2 netbook (with Intel GMA 950).
