[Bug 574665] Re: kvm + virtio disk corrupts large volumes (1TB).
i can confirm this issue. virtio plus guest volumes (qcow2/raw seems irrelevant, tried both with errors) 1T causes image corruption. the used disk space in the guests did not matter in my case. io errors showed sometimes at 10gb, sometimes later when already ~750gb were copied onto the virtual disk. additionally, lucid 10.04 server partitioner freezes while trying to create ext4 fs on virtual disk 1T with virtio. only workaround here was to run setup with ide driver, switching to virtio afterwards. but again, that caused disk corruption after some time (varied between minutes and days). atm using one 250G virtio raw image and one 2T ide raw image stable without any flaws. -- kvm + virtio disk corrupts large volumes (1TB). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574665 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 369575] Re: Why is /usr/share/pam-configs/krb5 specifying minimum_uid= ?
On Sat, May 15, 2010 at 12:31:18AM -, Daniel Richard G. wrote: This is a potential solution, but putting aside the tricky case of what happens if the common-* files have customized options, and then the PAM profile changes?, another problem with this approach is the fragility of the customization. If you deselect the module, update, then reselect it, and update... the customized module options are gone without a trace. There's no way to get them back, other than making the same edit to the common-* files again. The only real way to safeguard such customizations is to revert the files to manually-edited mode. The only way to preserve such options would be to store the authoritative configuration somewhere other than in the configuration file. (Right now, we only record what the last-seen set of module defaults are; the configuration itself is only ever stored in /etc/.) I don't think moving parts of the user configuration out of the config files is acceptable, and if you disable and then re-enable a module, I don't see any reason that the config options *should* be sticky. I'm not terribly comfortable with the way the statefulness works with this approach, either. The PAM configuration is not just a vector of bits indicating enabled/disabled profiles, but also whatever customizations have been made in the common-* files. If I'm not aware of what these customizations are, then I have no good way of knowing if my PAM config is just that vector, or if there's something more to it. There's no mechanism to tell me here are all the module options that are different from what's in the profiles. True. We could add an option for this, but as things stand today, pam-auth-update already implements the usual guarantee required by Debian/Ubuntu policy - that local configuration changes are respected. [Bug 369575] Re: Why is /usr/share/pam-configs/krb5 specifying minimum_uid= ?
I don't think moving parts of the user configuration out of the config files is acceptable, and if you disable and then re-enable a module, I don't see any reason that the config options *should* be sticky. I wasn't so much proposing an alternative, just going over the shortcomings I see of this approach. (Sticky options would present another quandary---what if they're wrong, and you're not sure how? What easy way do you have to revert to a pristine config, if disabling/re- enabling a module doesn't do it?) pam-auth-update already implements the usual guarantee required by Debian/Ubuntu policy - that local configuration changes are respected. Helping the user understand which bits of the configuration *are* local changes is gravy. What's implemented now is serviceable, to be sure, but I think the PAM config warrants a higher level of transparency than (say) inetd.conf. Maybe it can be machine-generated comments in the common-* files that indicate which options are customized; maybe some external file (/etc/pam.overrides? pam.custom?) that stores these options, allowing easy review and editing. I don't know what the solution would be---only that I'm vaguely uncomfortable with something as critical as the PAM config having this not-easily-inspected space in which changes can be made. There's definitely room for improvement here. -- Why is /usr/share/pam-configs/krb5 specifying minimum_uid= ? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/369575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to kerberos-configs in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

There is a newer client available for Karmic in the Beta PPA that you can try if you continue to have problems and do not want to upgrade the OS. [Bug 580815] [NEW] mail watcher applet does not changes its state after left-clicking
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xfce4-mailwatch-plugin Whenever I receive a new mail, the mail watcher applet displays the correct icon for new mails. Left-clicking opens my mail client (Thunderbird), which downloads my mails. What I've expected was, that when I left-click on the applets icon, it will displays the icon used for no new mails, because in normal case you would use this feature to open your mail client which will download all these mails. What happens is, that the icon does not change until the next refresh, which is very irritating in my humble opinion. ** Affects: xfce4-mailwatch-plugin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- mail watcher applet does not changes its state after left-clicking https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/580815 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 572681] Re: shared-mime-info: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127
Dear Engineers and developpers, I found out already. It has to do with Tomcat. First I had Tomcat 5.5 (9.10). In version 10.4 not Tomcat 5.5 available anymore. Also during upgrade Tomcat 6 was not installed. What I did is just delete line 6 in /etc/environment/ with the consequence I cannot use applications using Tomcat like Openbravo etc.. This was the same issue with another upgrade. Which I forgot already. Maybe next time take this issue into consideration?
