[Bug 581718] Re: dovecot upgrade purposely breaks working configuration
1) it was working by pure luck; it was never suposed to work 2) actually, there is; look at comment #6 3) for a reason - security 4) ?? It's not ignoring the issue. It's just that you are using 'mailbox' path, which starts with 'maildir:' as a home variable. That's just wrong, weather dovecot works or not. Your home isn't 'maildir:/home/user'. It's '/home/user'. If you think that is wrong and that 'home' should be 'maildir:/home/user', bring this to upstream cause Ubuntu will not diverge on this one. It's just pointless. MDS doesn't set 'home' attribute wrong. Look at it in your LDAP - I'm sure it's just '/home/something'. Problem is that you linked 'mailbox' LDAP attribute with 'home' variable in dovecot in dovecot-ldap.conf. -- dovecot upgrade purposely breaks working configuration https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/581718 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dovecot in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 551901] Re: likewise-open fails to join Windows 2000 SP4 domain
Right, we are missing two pieces of information: Someone familiar with the MIT SPNEGO code needs to look at the patch and confirm it actually ignores MIC tokens only when MIC tokens are optional. [Bug 582443] Re: Syslog socket missing from chroot.
My strace revealed that sshd was indeed attempting to open this socket and failing. I can see where if a user can inject into sshd that injecting into rsyslog would be trial for this person. I don't fully understand the ramifications of extra code lying around to do things like: 1. Test for the existence of this socket. a. Act on config option enabling/disabling this. 2. Test for the existence of a /var/log folder or /var/log/auth.log file. a. Act on config option enabling/disabling this. Though the current code might not have anything wrong with it, AFAIK. If by default this file should not exist then there should be a config option set to disable it's use, with instructions on enabling syslog for testing. Perhaps this should be something only done in testing and should be disable by default. If one wanted a filtering proxy to be vary strict about the messages passed through this socket, then perhaps the solution is for sshd to provide such a proxy. This way messages could be limited to only the messages sshd itself would generate. -- Syslog socket missing from chroot. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/582443 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 582925] [NEW] OOo needs mount.cifs to default to nobrl if possible
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba This doesn't affect me directly but I maintain OpenOffice.org for Ubuntu. It appears after getting numerous reports that OOo does not save properly to cifs mounted filesystems that the cause is due to the fact the 'nobrl' option is not being used. The root cause of this bug may be a problem in OOo itself but according to the man page of mount.cifs it sounds like it would probably be a good idea to use this option in any case. nobrl Do not send byte range lock requests to the server. This is necessary for certain applications that break with cifs style mandatory byte range locks (and most cifs servers do not yet support requesting advisory byte range locks). Re: [Bug 582803] Re: samba doesn't work
Thierry, Sorry for the incomplete information - I'm new to this bug reporting business. Since submitting the fault report, I found that it wasn't a problem with samba after all. I have a desktop computer running Ubuntu that has some printers connected and 4 laptop computers, 2 of which run windows XP and 2 with vista. I use samba to backup laptop files to the Ubuntu box and for sharing the printers to the laptops. Prior to upgrading to 10.04, I could see the laptops via the Places-Network-Windows Network. After the upgrade, the Windows network was showing as empty. After sending the error report, I found that I could connect to the other laptops using Places-Connect to Server then in the dialogue box typing in the name of the laptop. I can also access the computer using firefox by typing the IP address as smb://ww.xx.yy.zz. I sorted the problem out by following advice shown in this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1028321 in particular, I changed smb.conf as shown here: MOST IMPORTANT I change the way the priority for name resolution work for samba: name resolve order = wins hosts lmhosts bcast It was originally in there as: name resolve order = lmhosts host wins bcast I restarted samba using restart smbd and everything was working. I am assuming that the smb.conf file was changed during the upgrade to 10.04 as everything was working beforehand. Apologies for mis-filing the bug, but I hope it will be of use to others who may have a similar problem. I think Dietmar's comment #5 is pretty interesting: the binaries in 9.10 did *NOT* have the suid-bit set, but it definitely worked for me back then (and for others too, as they reported).
[Bug 443120] Re: Blank Screen after waking from Suspend, Pressing Screen brightness fixes this
I just installed mint-9 and have experienced a regression in the wake from suspend functionality. In mint-8, wake was always successful, but in mint-9 the system appears to wake but the backlight does not come on and the screen is blank. The computer is a Dell Inspiron 8600 notebook with the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 video card. ** Attachment added: Output from inxi -F http://launchpadlibrarian.net/48698803/inxi.txt -- Blank Screen after waking from Suspend, Pressing Screen brightness fixes this https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/443120 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
