Re: [Bug 585765] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes
@G Steel: I agree! I think it shouldn't be incomplete, several of us have tested upstream, we know its not there, it wasn't in karmic, so perhaps this can be set at high priority and then some proper in depth looking for the source of this bug can be completed. I can't reproduce that, what means I don't know a aplication or usage of the system making it freeze. sometimes I have uptimes of a day, without freeze and sometimes it freezes right after booting the system. I found out, that sometimes the MagicSysRQ (R-E-I-S-U-B) works and let me shut down the system, sometimes not. I don't know what makes that difference. In the system log I can't find any unusual entries. But I foun that the system log is still runing, so shuting down the wifi with the notebooks hardware switch for example is logged. [Bug 563156] Re: [ATI Graphics][Lucid] laptop runs hot, shorter battery life, fan always on
Similar problem here with a Dell Inspiron 9200 with ATI graphics, and it's about the same story as others above: The laptop's fan is on as long as the machine is awake, regardless of total CPU load (which is usually negligible), and the battery life seems unusually short (I'm down to half charge in less than an hour). Battery life was considerably better under Karmic (a full charge was good for 3-4 hours). For me, this regression is the result of an upgrade from Karmic to Lucid via Synaptic, rather than a full re-install. I had to use the instructions at http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Fix-the-Big-and- Ugly-Plymouth-Logo-in-Ubuntu-10-04-140810.shtml to fix the bootsplash that broke during the upgrade. That How-To happens to include the nomodeset boot option, which fixes resume-from-suspend for me as well (Lucid fails to turn the backlight back on otherwise). I mention these in case there is some connection between those settings and the power consumption issue. I am running the regular open-source radeon driver, and Hardware Drivers gives me no option to install any other drivers (of any kind). -- [ATI Graphics][Lucid] laptop runs hot, shorter battery life, fan always on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/563156 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 593227] [NEW] feature request: add a root-path parameter
Στις 14-06-2010, ημέρα Δευ, και ώρα 20:35 +, ο/η Wouter Verhelst έγραψε: NBD has a virtual host feature that allows you to change the served file based on (part of) the IP address of the client that's connecting. That would indeed work for some use cases, but unfortunately fixed IP addresses would be required, which isn't always an option. I'd prefer that the client would be able to specify a name of an export, with the server using the section name in the config file as the name of the export, rather than having the ability to specify a path; the latter would have some security ramifications that I'd prefer not to deal with. I was thinking something like /etc/exports, with one entry per line, which would make it easier for postinst/postrm scripts to handle. In essence the two methods are the same except that the whole section is in one line, and the full path is used as the section name - I can't see any differences security-wise. But sure, the configuration file format (or config.d directory if implemented) is not an issue at all. [Bug 161818] Re: firefox flash-plugin automatic installation fails on youtube
** Description changed: Problem occurs with: * Ubuntu 8.04 LTS * Ubuntu 9.04 * Ubuntu Karmic, all updates installed 1. From a fresh Ubuntu installation, go to http://www.youtube.com/. 2. Go to any of the videos. What happens: Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player. What should happen: Firefox's plug-in finder bar appears. Sites like YouTube query firefox about the availability of the flash plugin, and if not found, display fallback text (usually including a link to Adobe's download page) instead of triggering the browser's native embed behavior for uninstalled plug-ins. This is usually implemented using the Adobe Flash Player Detection Kit http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/download/detection_kit/ and, more recently, SWFObject http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/. SWFObject will be included in upcoming versions of Adobe Flash Catalyst - and Adobe Flash Builder. and as of 1 October 2009, it was used by around - 13% of Web site front pages sampled by Builtwith. + and Adobe Flash Builder, and since May 2009 it has consistently been + used by about 13% of the top 10 000 Web site front pages sampled by + Builtwith. http://trends.builtwith.com/?tag=javascripttech=b9f773e8-12b1-46ee- ab08-bafa6c8d0c6f Ubuntu's plug-in finder bar works only for embed elements, and therefore it is working for fewer and fewer Flash sites over time. A simple solution might be to hack firefox to always provide the information that the flash capability is present, even when the flash plugin is not yet installed. Therefore, the site would provide the flash object, and the automatic flash plugin installation would kick in. -- firefox flash-plugin automatic installation fails on youtube https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/161818 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm pretty sure that this isn't a problem with Firefox, but a problem with Gnome instead, as multimedia key presses are also swallowed whenever you have an open menu, no matter if it is inside an application (File, Edit, View menus and so on), or the start menu or a right click menu. Applications documentation is not translatable via Launchpad. This bug should be forwarded upstream. Keep in mind that f-spot documentation is not translated at all upstream, so this rather then being a bug is a wishlist. I'm marking it as invalid since there is no translation at all upstream. ** Changed in: f-spot (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- label the photos chapter, in the help menu, isn't fully translated in italian https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589743 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 530394] Re: gwibber claims my Facebook password is incorrect but the same password works on Facebook itself
There are two problems here I have been having using gwibber 2.30.0.1 on Ubuntu 10.04. Both of them have been experienced by other people,. 1. Since Saturday I have not been able to post anything. It worked fine on Saturday, now it doesn't. You click send, and nothing happens. 2. After deleting my facebook account from gwibber in an attempt to set it up again, gwibber would not let me add a facebook account to my list. After entering my username and password, the Add button was simply not there. 3. After reinstalling gwibber and deleting the config files, I could add facebook again, but I still could not post anything and the feed was bearing no relationship to current events. This time, after clicking send, I get the message telling me there was an authentication error. Deleted the account from gwibber again, and now I'm back to the situation where there is no Add button. Can anyone help with this, or is this bug considered closed? If it is solved, could someone please help me reproduce the solution? It doesn't help if someone just says well it now works for me, therefore problem solved. -- gwibber claims my Facebook password is incorrect but the same password works on Facebook itself https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/530394 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
