[Bug 619653] [NEW] network-manager crash when resuming from suspend, applet can't find any network interface
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager After resuming the PC from suspend, the network applet show none of the 2 network interface (eth0 and eth1 disappearing). So I loose the internet connection and I can't reconnect without restarting network-manager with : sudo service network-manager restart In dmesg, I can see a crash report from network-manager during resume. I found the reason of the problem and I feel like a stupid, but maybe could happened to others, the problem is that without notice I login in GNOME failsafe mode and that's the problem with generalized authentication problems, so is good to review if someone else is login in the same way and one of the effects is that from Ubuntu center software install button don't do anything. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 616321 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/616321 Historically, poppler-data couldn't be installed by default when it was non-free three years ago (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/48708/comments/7). However, recently it's been considered free enough to be in universe (since Lucid). If I set the screens to mirror then I can have the same on both screens and this works fine. If I set them not to mirror then the secondary (external) screen is black but I can _just_ about move the mouse onto it. i can see the cursor on the second screen but its not usable because it only goes a few pixels onto the second screen before hitting a 'wall'. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager After updating Toshiba laptop to latest maverick I can now no longer change the panel brightness. [Bug 433714] Re: initial empathy account wizard does not offer IRC as an account
Thing is, this is a GNOME problem, we need them to fix it first. That's what I'm trying to do, expedite getting a fix. I get the feeling, both from what Omer says and from looking at the GNOME bug, that the GNOME people think it's a fair bit of work. If I'm right in my analysis of the code, it's trivial. Whatever encouragement we can give to the GNOME people to verify what I found and get a fix out quick will be best for everyone. [Bug 619670] [NEW] system, installed with root partition in RAID 1 software, doesn't startup if first drive is removed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2 I installed 10.04 with root partition in RAID 1 software. After that if I removed first drive (I tried with two sata drives) the system cannot boot, but if I removed the second one the system boots normally in degraded mode. I suspect grub is not installed correctly during installation mode. I also tried to re-launch grub-install on the second drive (grub-install /dev/sdb seen that bug #585742) but with no success (the system cannot boot up). Tested with 10.04 desktop edition on a VirtualBox machine. [Bug 591129] Re: Install Button not Working - nothing happens
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 499937 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/499937 Hi Jorge! Thanks a lot for that last comment. The install/remove buttons in s-c don't work in this case because the policykit authentication agent (the password dialog daemon) isn't running. If the agent isn't running, this also explains all the other issues you listed. The authentication agent should be listed in the startup applications of gnome, but it seems that this is not always the case. For s-c I have resolved the issue (not yet released) by manually starting the authentication agent if it is not running. This is just a workaround, as ideally the authentication agent should be running anyway. It would be great if you could report the issue described in your last comment, as a new bug against something gnome-related so that the right people get to see it, and can hopefully resolve the bigger issue. Once again thanks for your great help and please continue to report any bugs you may find. -- Install Button not Working - nothing happens https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/591129 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
