both host and guest are 64 bit. i said it have to be moved maybe but wasnt shure where to fill it exactly. anyway it seems to happen when you run quemu/kvm on the host (at least 64 bit debian) and guest 10.04lts 64 bit guest and make latest kernel update. its everytime reproduceable its happen now more and more. the only reason not much more are affected is maybe because of the nature of that thing. server as guests are commonly not rebootet (or most users try to prevent a reboot of course :-) this week im gonna testinstall a 10.04 as a host and try it again with a guest but still if the host (different distri but always using qemu/kvm) makes a difference its still very interresting - i mean with a full virtualisation system the guest kernel should run or should not run all the time. what else is the point in using full virtualisation (looks were running into similar issues paravirtualisation has -- Update to 10.04 2.6.32-25 as KVM Guest no longer boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669818 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 671427] [NEW] grub-legacy-ec2 should not use UUID
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cloud-init After the first time update-grub-legacy-ec2 runs inside an ec2 instance, the root will be specified by UUID. The initial images are hard coded to have root specified on the linux command line by LABEL, but after the first run, a UUID will appear. This is actually superior in some ways, but will negatively affect filesystem level rebundling (ie, in euca-bundle-vol). root=UUID=429ef293-0128-4c19-b194-4b9a2e4fe7a1 On ext2, the UUID can be written with 'tune2fs -U' or 'mke2fs -U' Some more thought needs to go into how to fix this correctly. The reason for choosing LABEL and/or UUID rather than 'root=/dev/sda1' was to be more like grub2, and to avoid disk naming issues (even though, on ec2, sda1 is probably a constant for the root device). [Bug 671103] Re: backport grub-legacy-ec2 from maverick to lucid
** Description changed: Binary package hint: cloud-init I'm investigating backporting support for guest managed kernels into 10.04 guest UEC images. Doing so would allow 10.04 guest images that were running on EC2 and 10.10 UEC hosts to run 'apt-get dist-upgrade reboot' and boot into their new kernel. Currently, the 10.04 guests cannot manage their own kernel under either UEC or EC2. The solution in place for 10.10 is to use grub-pc to load the kernel on UEC and legacy-grub-ec2 to load the kernel on EC2. In order to do this, we will need to pull the legacy-grub-ec2 package (a binary package built from cloud-init's source) to lucid. [Bug 670981] Re: package libapache2-mod-php5 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Hi derek, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and help us make Ubuntu better! I see this in the DpkgTerminalLog.txt: Installing new version of config file /etc/apache2/mods-available/php5.conf ... frontend: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0. That is most likely a transient error, but one that dpkg should probably handle better. I can see other bug reports with the same error message and they appear not to be reproducible. However, this seems like a point where dpkg's X frontend could simple retry (as it should with an error message like that). Re-assigning to dpkg, and marking as Confirmed based on bug 505277 and bug 406698 which seem to be the same issue (and will be marked as duplicates of this one). ** Package changed: php5 (Ubuntu) = dpkg (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: dpkg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Summary changed: - package libapache2-mod-php5 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 + dpkg locks up operations upon error frontend: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0 -- dpkg locks up operations upon error frontend: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670981 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Guy, awesome, this narrows things down a bit. Can you also install these debug symbols and repeat the trace?: php5-dbg libssl0.9.8-dbg libcurl3-dbg I'm guessing that this is a bug in PHP or curl that isn't re- initializing some kind of global state for openssl. Are you definitely using the curl module for php? If not, you can try apt-get remove php5-curl And see if that resolves the issue. With sync-to-vblank disabled, animations get even jerkier, and there are artifacts from Firefox 4.0's tabs when switching tabs. Specifically, when you click on an inactive tab, the tab still looks like it's being hovered upon, rather than active. The previously active, but now inactive tab looks like it is still active until you move your mouse over it, whereby it switches to its inactive state. None of these issues appear with Compiz 0.8.6 ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Sam SmSpillaz Spilsbury (smspillaz) Status: New ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Sam SmSpillaz Spilsbury (smspillaz) -- [compiz++] Poor performance https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671280 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 671281] [NEW] [compiz++] Gtk-window-decorator from git does not update title and font colour for active/inactive state
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz When using compiz++ compiled from git using the build_compiz++ script which is also from git, the window title bar does not update at all. There are two symptoms here:- - When switching between windows, the inactive window still looks like it is active, and the active window still looks like it is inactive. - When the window title changes, e.g. from switching tabs in Firefox or Pidgin, it does not get updated by gtk-window-decorator, so the old title sticks. Maximizing or resizing the window makes the title update, but moving the window around does not, so it does not seem to be a damage issue. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Sam SmSpillaz Spilsbury (smspillaz) Status: New ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Sam SmSpillaz Spilsbury (smspillaz) -- [compiz++] Gtk-window-decorator from git does not update title and font colour for active/inactive state https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671281 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 671283] [NEW] [compiz++] Conky's window gets mapped out of the screen
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz With compiz++ built from git, Conky gets mapped out of the screen when started after Compiz. When skip_taskbar is not set in conkyrc, then it comes down from the upper right region, as if from another workspace. When sticky is not set in conkyrc, it is also possible to move the window back into position. A related issue is that some new windows, e.g. Evince windows get mapped partially off-screen. This behaviour is consistent, and 100% reproducible. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Sam SmSpillaz Spilsbury (smspillaz) Status: New ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Sam SmSpillaz Spilsbury (smspillaz) -- [compiz++] Conky's window gets mapped out of the screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671283 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 552699] Re: multi-touch not working on acer 1410, karmik
Hi BAleks Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu stable release(maverick ubuntu 10.10), this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect bug #, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low -- multi-touch not working on acer 1410, karmik https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/552699 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 356825] Re: Reports itself as version 0.9.4
Hi SteveK, the situation appears to be that the DVDREAD_VERSION is set to the version that libdvdread is a fork of, so it's more of an API compatibility flag than an indication of the actual program version number. I gather you discovered some problem where increasing the version beyond 904 solved it; I notice that Debian upped the version to 907 so hopefully that's enough to sort out the issue you saw. See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=532438 for the upstream bug for that change. If I'm wrong, please reopen this bug and clarify/elaborate. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #532438 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=532438 ** Changed in: libdvdread (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Fix Released -- Reports itself as version 0.9.4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/356825 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 671292] [NEW] screen corruption in maverick
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg My problem is hard to clearly explain, I am sorry if it does not reach the right package in LP or so. Since upgraded to Maverick (I have two different machines as examples, both of them are 32bit x86). I've noticed it first with chromium browser, please check my bug report out: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=60919 In nutshell: if I drag an image (or a selected text for example) with the mouse and I release it, it remains on the screen above every content, even if I switch another workspace/window or play full screen video, as I would have some kind of monitor OSD or so. I have a screenshot attached to the bugreport on chromium I've mentioned above. The reason that I did the bug report here too: in that ticket I was told that the reason can be the maverick and not chromium itself. And it looks true: while the problem 100% reproducable in chromium, I could notice similar bugs with other applications well, though maybe not so often (it can be the usage pattern: it's quite frequent that I click on something while move the mouse and it causes that drag anomaly in chromium, while it can be trickier in other apps to trigger this problem maybe?), for example using geany to code in PHP and Python causes sometimes to have remainment of the wire of a dialog can be seen all the time and only exiting from geany can help, the same way as with chromium. Hopefully my bugreport is useable somehow ... Thanks!
