[Bug 644644] Re: Frequent PA crashes during playback - pa_stream_cork() failed: Connection terminated and pa_stream_writable_size(): Connection failed
EeePC 901, Ubuntu 10.10 I'm a newcomer to linux and there is much I don't understand but I do have some computer skills and I have noticed that no-one has mentioned audio sampling rate. When I discovered this problem and looked for a solution I found that some video files will play properly and some won't. So I did some experiments with the following results. Any file where the audio is mp3 or aac or ac3 with a sampling rate of 22.05 kHz will play in Totem without problems. Any file where the audio is mp3 or aac or ac3 with a sampling rate of 24 kHz will fail to play in Totem with the error messages described above. Since 44.1 kHz or 22.05 kHz seems to be the accepted standard in North America, I suspect that someone wrote a piece of code which, in effect, assumes that the sampling rate can only be 44.1 kHz or 22.05 kHz. Many years ago I made a similar mistake and trashed an operating system. Unfortunately for me, the majority of my video files use mp3 at 24 kHz because I have found that 22.05 kHz doesn't sync properly with the video. I believe that it's something to do with the PAL TV standard in Europe. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/644644 Title: Frequent PA crashes during playback - pa_stream_cork() failed: Connection terminated and pa_stream_writable_size(): Connection failed -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 707007] [NEW] Monitor Preferences dialog buttons lacks conformity with rest of OS
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center System-wide, buttons in Ubuntu that appear in the lower right corner of dialog boxes always appear in a specific order: Close Apply. [Bug 706706] Re: Can't use Norton Ghost under Ubuntu KVM
What is Hiren's boot cd? http://www.google.com/search?q=Hiren.BootCD.8.6 See the first 2 hits, one for the info, and other for the dl. Yes, I was hoping to avoid downloading an iso I'd never heard of. My question about 32-bit and 64-bit maverick was in a guest, not on the host. It will be helpful if you can reproduce this bug with a more common iso. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/706706 Title: Can't use Norton Ghost under Ubuntu KVM -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 700619] Re: region subtag of language are not being set accordantly
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 666565 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/666565 On 2011-01-24 07:41, ZhengPeng Hou wrote: ... if you choose en_US druring your installation, then LANG and LANGUAGE will be set as en_US.UTF-8, but after you made any changes with language-selector, like change the language, the subtag will be set as xx_XX.utf8, and this is obviously a problem. In my case, my remote machine is using en_US.UTF-8, but after I made a change with my local machine, the locale will be set as zh_CN.utf8, then, all Chinese characters on remote machine can't be displayed correctly ... Aha, now I understand better. That issue has been reported previously in bug 666565, so I marked this document a duplicate of bug 666565. In addition, we have a lot of place to set locale variants, it make user feel frustrated, especially from GDM, too complicated. Why don't we just put all those languages relevant variant into /etc/environment or /etc/default/locale for system-wide settings, and into ~/.profile for users setting? then GDM/KDM/XDM/ just read it from them, it will more easy and straightforwad not only for end users, but also for developers. As a part of the solution to bug 553162, the use of the files /var/cache/gdm/$USER/dmrc and ~/.dmrc were recently extended with a couple of new fields for storing locales settings. While I agree that it may presently appear unnecessarily complicated, it's the result of a carefully considered compromise, so it won't likely be altered short-term. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 666565 utf8 charmap in locale name is wrong * You can subscribe to bug 666565 by following this link: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/666565/+subscribe -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/700619 Title: region subtag of language are not being set accordantly -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 652312] Re: apt cache not up to date on first boot
I'm closing this as 'Incomplete'. The bug was either simply with apt sources being out of date or with possible host resolution issue or archive inconsistency. There was a period of time when ubuntu archives on ec2 were broken. ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/652312 Title: apt cache not up to date on first boot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 576531] Re: netdiscovery: relocation error segfault
Yesterday was trying to execute the Wolf Geldmacher's comment (#12), but for an accident the solution was stopped in the middle, before the step that recovers libs from the backup folder. The result was that the PC was not able to reboot anymore, neither in normal boot nor in recovery mode. The only way to fix the problem was to use a live CD, to mount the hard-disk containing the malfunctioning Ubuntu and to move the libs using last commands from comment #12 : cd /lib mv backup/* . After that the PC was able to reboot again ! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576531 Title: netdiscovery: relocation error segfault -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
