[Bug 392968] Re: beautifulsoup 3.1 is buggy, provide 3.0 by default
Beautiful Soup 3.1 is broken. however, as it has some more features than 3.0 it should be provided in a separate packages. That is not something that can be easily done with Python packages, only a single version can be in th archive at a time. BeautifulSoup 4 looks like it'll have the package name beatifulsoup so it may be installable concurrently with 3.x which is called BeautifulSoup (on unix). I've taken over the maintainance of this package on Debian, and now need to work out how best to handle this... :/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to beautifulsoup in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/392968 Title: beautifulsoup 3.1 is buggy, provide 3.0 by default -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 713950] Re: Improvement for zh-tw fontconfig settings of language-selector
This post was originally written by xenomorph0525 and was posted here: http://www.ubuntu-tw.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=164272#forumpost164272 I help translate it into English and post it to this bug report. The file 69-language-selector-*.conf first appeared since Ubuntu 8.04 was issued. There were not any problem like Sans fonts becoming sqare characters when displayed chinese fonts before that time. It is owing to the way of mixing Chinese and English fonts in a file 69-language-selector-zh-*.conf that the sqare fonts came into being. It is caused by 2 main facters that Sans fonts becoming sqare characters when displayed chinese fonts: 1. the way of mixing Chinese and English fonts in the file 69-language-selector-zh-*.conf 2. not in support of fallback function like the file 69-language-selector-zh-*.conf by some applications. The problem should be resolved thoroughly only if removal of these two factors. In any case we have to remove the strings including Bitstream Vera、DejaVu from the file 69-language-selector-zh-*.conf so that other applications will not show abnormal Chinese fonts caused by the second factor. After all it is so hard to control in advance how the programmers design their software. At least the first factor is under our master control among these two factors. Of course we should edit those programs with known bugs in the 2nd factor, beside the first factor, either. It must not be one kind of good setting to mix Chinese fonts and English fonts in one setting file. This would be regarded, by the users, as to be drawn back to normal setting ( not mixed Chinese and English fonts in one file) in case that the proposal to edit the file 69-language-selector-zh-*.conf was brought up when Ubnutu 8.04 had been releasing. Maybe the reason why it is classified into not good solution by somebodies should be too late, after 2 years, to be brought forward to edit the setting. Nevertheless it is because of time point to shape the different impression. In fact it is still a suggestion of such kind of item as regressing back to normal setting. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/713950 Title: Improvement for zh-tw fontconfig settings of language-selector -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: plymouth The newest update to the package plymouth does not work properly. I have tested these two versions: - 0.8.2-2ubuntu15 - 0.8.2-2ubuntu16 What happens: plymouth does not get loaded. There is blanck screen after grub with no plymouth. Also during shut down, plymouth screen cannot be seen. This does not, however, in any way stop or harm the booting process. Downgrading to the version 0.8.2-2ubuntu14 solves the issue completely. [Bug 706890] Re: dual monitors garbled display on 10.10 with Radeon X600
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Since I upgraded from Lucid to Maverick (official release with latest updates), the display with dual non-mirrored monitors does not work. I have a Dell Dimension 9150 with 2 GB RAM, Intel Pentium 4 dual-core 3 GHz CPU and a Radeon X600 graphics chip. This worked fine in Lucid and Windows XP. My setup: Samsung 17 SyncMaster 171s VGA 60 Hz on left, and 19 Samsung SyncMaster 943 DVI 75 Hz on right, both at 1280 x 1024. The Radeon controller has a VGA and a DVI socket and the two monitors are connected as indicated. Mirrored monitors display fine. But using System - Monitor Preferences, uncheck Same image in all monitors, click on Apply, and the right-hand monitor (19 DVI) completely garbles the right half of the display from top to bottom. Also tried 60 Hz, no change. I ran Update Manager to get the latest official updates, googled and tried various suggestions, such as bleeding.edge xorg stuff, but it was no help. Not sure if this is supposed to have been resolved or not. So I downgraded to 10.4 where it works fine. Would be great to get an answer as to how to fix this problem - thanks. - Bob Paulson + --- + Architecture: i386 + CurrentDmesg: + [ 20.158526] e1000e: eth0 NIC Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex, Flow Control: RX/TX + [ 20.158532] e1000e :04:00.0: eth0: 10/100 speed: disabling TSO + [ 20.158758] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready + [ 27.951716] EXT4-fs (sda6): re-mounted. [Bug 710796] Re: [regression] hibernate no longer works on natty
I have an IBM Thinkpad T41. For me, the screen under X11 is borked terminally after suspend. Suspend also would not be an option most of the time because when I stop working to freeze state, this can be for quite long, and I don't keep my power supply running while the computer is off -- a waste of energy. The current policies in the GUI and, temporarily in the kernel, are a complete nuisance. Hibernation also refuses to work when using the appropriate ACPI button. Another nuisance. If I need to hibernate in a hurry, having to switch to a virtual terminal, typing sudo hibernate and keying in my password is quite an aggravation. It also means that the system will come up without asking for a password. The Suspend entry in the power menu will, as explained, cause my screen to go bad. All that works in that case is switching to a text console and shutting down the computer (switching back to the X11 console does not work). I don't understand what gains are there from disabling/hiding functionality. How developers can assume that they know the working options (and their relative merits and problems) better than the person working with the computer, is beyond me. Who are we trying to protect? People that persist using a non-working way of shutting down their computer time after time, even though they see other options in the menu and keep breaking things in the same, non- working manner, time after time? Nobody as stupid as that is protectable from his folly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/710796 Title: [regression] hibernate no longer works on natty -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 702157] Re: unity reboots when changing tabs in kile or evolution
Done. I hope it will help. ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Distribution : Maverick. Problem with Kile : when I've loaded more than one file and wants to switch from one tab to another, Unity seems to turn off and reboot : the menus disappear, then the Kile window to (wallpaper appearing), then the Kile windos fits all the screen, and finally everything goes back to normal. But it happens 95% of the time when I switch from one tab to another. With Evolution : same thing when switching from Mail to Calendar, or Tasks, but only the first time. Also, in Evolution Tasks, the Actions menu is missing. - The Kile bug is a big problem and would prevent using Unity in the - future. + The Kile bug is a big problem and would prevent using Unity in the future. + --- + Architecture: i386 + CheckboxSubmission: 1cf592f419e1561b4122217c1967344a + CheckboxSystem: d00f84de8a555815fa1c4660280da308 + CompizPlugins: [core,ccp,move,resize,place,decoration,vpswitch,workarounds,gnomecompat,svg,neg,dbus,regex,mousepoll,session,widget,text,png,imgjpeg,commands,animation,ezoom,resizeinfo,fade,snap,staticswitcher,cube,rotate,scale,3d,scaleaddon] + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 + EcryptfsInUse: Yes + MachineType: Dell Inc.
