[Bug 362951] Re: Bash completion does not work

This doesn't actually affect bash-completion in any way since mtx ships
its own bash_completion.d file. Closing as Invalid.

Marek, it means that the bucket (goldmann-test) needs to be created

Hope that helps.

[Bug 629247] Re: Failure to alter VM's MAC address with virsh

2011-03-20 Thread Serge Hallyn
Would it suffice to do:

   virsh edit myvm

and change the mac address in the definition? Note that if the mac
address doesn't show up in the definition in the editor, you should be
able to add it (using the mac address you want) and it will be respected
the next time.

[Bug 736844] Re: kvm default install throws Unable to open a connection to the libvirt management daemon requires logout + login

2011-03-20 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Do you have any suggestions for where we could place a more helpful
message?

I'm assigning to Dustin as he might have an idea of where we can, or why
we shouldn't, do so. On the one hand I can see a new user wanting to
see that message pop up after installing the package. On the other
hand, an admin installing 100s of machines won't want to waste time
clicking 'ok' 100 times. Dustin, do you have any advice? Can we have
the .postinst script simply echo a msg and expect dpkg, apt, and
synaptic all do the right thing?

2011-03-20 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Could you look 'grep libvirt /var/log/daemon.log' and see if any
messages there explain why libvirt failed? When you do '/etc/init.d
/libvirt-bin start', does anything show up on console?

Is upgrading your maching to 10.04 feasible?

[Bug 738274] Re: wubi sets wrong locale

2011-03-20 Thread bcbc
I reinstalled (Natty test). It sets my location correctly to Vancouver,
however it looks like it assumes that the computer clock is set to UTC
as the time was displayed as 3:36PM (instead of 10:36PM). As soon as I
connected to the net it fixed itself.

[Bug 738345] Re: Grub2 entries to boot Wubi incorrect... Error: file not found, Press any key to continue at boot

2011-03-20 Thread bcbc
I reinstalled the same version of Wubi and checked grub.cfg. The lupin entry
looks like this:
### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_lupin ###
menuentry Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.38-6-generic {
insmod part_msdos
insmod ntfs
set root='(/dev/sda,msdos3)'
search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root 8654915254914639
loopback loop0 /ubuntu/disks/root.disk
set root=(loop0)
linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-6-generic root=UUID=8654915254914639
loop=/ubuntu/disks/root.disk ro   quiet splash
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.38-6-generic
}
Apart from changing the target partition it shows that the grub.cfg changed
after the install - the original entry looks like the traditional wubi entry,
but then running sudo update-grub changes it to this:
### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_lupin ###
menuentry Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.38-6-generic {
insmod ext2
set root='(/dev/loop0)'
search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root
b4c80465-f6f6-4e88-a1dc-0321acfe292f
loopback loop0 /ubuntu/disks/root.disk
set root=(loop0)
linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-6-generic root=UUID=8654915254914639
loop=/ubuntu/disks/root.disk ro   quiet splash
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.38-6-generic
}

So I don't think this is a lupin script issue, but rather a grub2 issue.

I was processing a lot of files on an NFS mount. Over 1,000. Was

deleting from the GUI before they'd finished saving. I've been doing

[Bug 727675] Re: drag and drop from dash to launcher issues

2011-03-20 Thread Doug McMahon
While there is no black box anymore at best am only able to drag an app icon
to the launcher once per session from dash/applications.place (if even once
Any further (or the orig) . attempts results in not being able to 'pick' up
an icon and or a compiz crash, either immediately or after closing
application.place

On the other hand dragging and dropping .desktops from the filesystem or
desktop works fine.
An apport compiz crash report is created (not on the failed drag and drop but
on the subsequent compiz crash.
Can file a new bug from that if needed

2011-03-20 Thread bcbc
There is another issue with grub.cfg on Wubi. Not on the initial install
but after running update-grub. I created a new bug 738345 under lupin,
but realised it's not the lupin script after all, but grub that must be
causing it. I wanted to mention it here as I have no idea how to assign
a bug to Grub2 after it's already created.

[Bug 737603] Re: JNI unable to find libpam.so

2011-03-20 Thread Steve Langasek
Can you give me a test case that lets me reproduce the failure? I've
found where DEFAULT_LIBPATH is defined in
openjdk/hotspot/src/os/linux/vm/os_linux.cpp, but as I said I would
really like to fix this to use the system library path instead of its
own copy. but there are an awful lot of calls to dlopen() in this code
and I'm not sure which one is the source of this problem. (I currently
suspect jdk/src/share/classes/java/lang/ClassLoader.java, but I could be
wrong.)

This is related to another problem where the UID, GID, and file size became
corrupted and even root couldn't remove or change the file(s). Eventual fix
was to use a filesystem debugger program and clear the inode entries. I'm
still not sure what caused the problem - possibly a power failure/hit, but the
system is on a UPS.
in any case, it's corrected and closed. Sorry I didn't close this earlier.

[Bug 138834] Re: Bluetooth (OBEX Push) should remove devices not in range

2011-03-20 Thread Hendy Irawan
To remove Bluetooth devices manually:
--

I had to remove devices manually. The gnome applet asks hcid daemon for
known devices.

hcid database is on /var/lib/bluetooth/[YOUR-DONGLE-MAC-ADDRESS] . There are
several text files for several purposes: remove the line matching the mac
address of the old bluetooth device on each file and you're done.
I had to remove lines from the files sdp, manufacturers, features, classes,
lastused, lastseen, names.
If you don't know what mac addresses to remove, the names file can help you
because associates a mac address with a device name.
Remember: these files must be edited as root.

[Bug 738438] Re: Printing PDF document sometimes does not work, printer states processing job endlessly, HP Laserjet 5000N

2011-03-20 Thread Dominik Stadler
I looked at the installed drivers and saw that I had different ones for
device HP5000 and HP5000onepage. Only the onepage driver had trouble.
This one had a driver of HP LaserJet 5000 Series Postscript
(recommended), when I switched to HP LaserJet 5000 hpijs, 3.10.2 it
worked again.

Furthermore the driver HP LaserJet 5000 Series Postscript
(recommended) is not even available any more for me, so it seems to
have been caused by an outdated printer driver.

Not sure if it makes sense to further investigate, therefore I am
closing this for now.

[Bug 737603] Re: JNI unable to find libpam.so

2011-03-20 Thread Steve Langasek
Attached is a tentative patch for this issue (completely untested).
Removing /lib:/usr/lib from the DEFAULT_LIBPATH is not strictly
necessary, although leaving them here means they'll be searched twice
(once explicitly, once as part of ld.so's default search path) and we
don't really want them to appear in front of the multiarch dirs on the
search path. But it also forces the issue; if there's other code
relying on java.lib.path to be complete, that code will start failing
immediately even if the libraries they're looking for haven't been
converted for multiarch. So this needs to be weighed carefully given
where we are in the release cycle.

(BTW, Matthias, the openjdk-6 source package has a Vcs-Bzr field
pointing at a branch that's not up to date. Did you forget to push?)

In my case xserver-xorg-video-ati was missing. Reinstalling it solved
the issue, in fact there was an error message in Xorg.0.log that the ati
module couldn't be found and vesa was used. It seems that xserver-xorg-
video-ati was lost during one of the last updates.

[Bug 729307] Re: YouTube videos play red

2011-03-20 Thread Paddy Landau
@JAY: It looks like Youtube did something that put the colors back the
right way. But now the latest flashplugin is very crashy.

I get the same as you; but not everyone does. It seems a bit random,
because some people still have the red.

[Bug 41704] Re: wildcards should work with the search feature

2011-03-20 Thread Mistere-here
simply searching for a partial filename without a wildcard has the desired
result I think.
I was trying to collect all the screenshots off of my desktop and found that
simply searching for screenshot found all similar files. However, the
wildcards would give you more control.

[Bug 67844] Re: Change file encoding on the fly

2011-03-20 Thread Artem Gabrielyan
One can easily reopen a document with desirable encoding using Encoding
plugin included in gedit-gmate package which comes from ubuntu-on-rails ppa.
UTF-8, windows-1251 and western iso-8859-15 are in the list. Don't know if
other encodings support can be added, but 1251 will do for me.
Found it here: http://youtu.be/tquErQhPk60

[Bug 738600] [NEW] flash 10.2 plugin crashes when leaving full-screen with nvidia 270.30

2011-03-20 Thread Rocko
Public bug reported:

In Firefox, navigate to any flash video (eg on YouTube) and play it full
screen. Press ESC to exit full-screen, and it crashes - the Firefox tab
turns blank (black in FF 4, light grey in FF 3.6.15). Refreshing the
page will restart flash, but of course any flash videos that start in
full-screen mode can only be viewed in full-screen mode.

This only happens with the 270.30 beta nvidia driver - flash works fine
with the 260.19.44 stable driver. The same is true in Maverick (it works
with the stable driver but not the beta driver).

The current flashplugin-installer version is 10.2.152.27ubuntu1.
