There have been a very large number of changes to bat from 5.0.x to 5.2.0,
including new features, bug fixes, and particularly seg fault fixes. I am
sorry, I don't remember the specifics, and since I did not explicitly

think so.

While I do think we should put 5.2.0 in backports when it arrives, if
the fix is simple it might be worth patching 5.0.1 so it works in lucid.

There were a lot of changes, and I believe we have a significant number in the
Director too, so any backporting might not be easy. You are free to try
backporting but it is not something that I am personally going to do.

This one is really hard to confirm as I don't have any files to restore
in my test bacula. Is there a shorter test case?

I don't know as I haven't explicitly reproduced the reported bug.

I'm going to mark this as Incomplete, pending a shorter test case and/or
answers from Kern. If its too hard to test, and/or too hard to fix in
lucid, it might just have to be a Won't Fix.

OK. I am not sure what your procedure is -- it might be good to note fixed
in 5.2.x providing that is really the case.

[Bug 120375] Re: cannot boot raid1 with only one disk

2011-04-02 Thread Francis Mak
My server was in 8.04 LTS, having a raid 1 setup with 2 mirrored harddisk.
I have tested, if I unplug one of the disk, the raid 1 was working fine.

Sadly, after upgraded my system to 10.04.1 LTS, if I unplug one of the
disk and boot, the raid 1 become inactive.

#mdadm --detail /dev/md0
mdadm: md device /dev/md0 does not appear to be active.

# cat /proc/mdstat
md0 : inactive sdb1[0](S)

I have removed some of the messages to save space here. In the above
case, I have unplug the sdc, the raid 1 is not working anymore. It
treated the sdb as spare disk.

If I plug back the sdc, the raid 1 will be back to normal. It doesn't
make any sense.

Honestly, I am not a real expert in system admin. I implemented the
software raid is simply to protect my data in case of a harddisk
failure. Now I need to pray for both disk working in order for this
raid 1 keeping a live. really frustrating.

MAY I KNOW, what I need to do to fix this problem?

Thank you very much!

Right, we don't really have the luxury of putting people on new upstream
releases, though we'll indicate the status of the bug upstream so users
can go and get the new version if they want.

It *would* be good to link this to lucid-backports once 5.2.0 releases
so people can at least see that this bug would be fixed by a backport
of bacula 5.2.0.

2011-04-02 Thread Bernhard Kleine
My house has standard CAB5 ethernet cables and we connect to a hub to a
router and then via dsl to the internet. these connections are
hardcoded, i do not use dhcp.

the connections to the internet are to two ISP where I (resp. my
customers) have my/their webspace. these are the most prominent isp in
germany 11 and strato.

Bandwidth is between 30 kbit/s and 476 kbit/s depending whether my kids
are playing or downloading.

[Bug 745608] Re: font corruption on Intel GMA900

2011-04-02 Thread Zhmak
Hi Bryce,

1. Can't remember first occurrence. I'm sure that I saw it in Maverick, may be
in Lucid. Second screenshot made in Maverick.
2. It happening few times at week. I can surf web with firefox or opening
console, nothing unusual.
3. I'll switch to no effects mode to find it out.
4. I don't think so. Using only default themes and fonts. You can find that
another font affected on second attached screenshot (monospace font on console)
.

Also I saw thin grey (transparent?) streak on maximize button yesterday
and same streak on close button while writing this reply. Can' take
screenshot because changing focus to gnome-screenshot cause to change
button color and streak disappear.

Thanks for attention!

[Bug 748049] [NEW] Ubiquity top bar with network and sound applet doesn't display

2011-04-02 Thread Thibault Baldetti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Hello
I am testing Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwall Desktop i386 in live session. (beta 1)

Hardware:
IBM Thinkpad T60 Laptop
Intel Core Duo
Intel GMA 950
2048 MB of RAM
250 GB of Hard Disk
This computer works flawlessly in Ubuntu 10.10

When I launch the live USB using default options (without typing any button in
the first purple boot screen) , the Ubiquity installer display without the top
bar with network and sound applet. There are nothing in the top of the screen.
It just says Wireless connections are available
But when I launch Try Ubuntu , Gnome starts normally and the top bar displays.

Thank you!

[Bug 746826] Re: [i915gm] GPU lockup ESR: 0x00000001 IPEHR: 0x7d8e0001

2011-04-02 Thread Wage
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 747676 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/747676

I get two error messages when I login, these sometimes come back 4 or 5 times.
After the errors my computer is normally fine for awhile. Randomly the screen
gets scrambled, sometimes it goes back to my screen and I can move the mouse
but can't click and the only thing I can do with the keyboard is open a text
console which I use to restart.

I've had to restart at least 4 or 5 times in the last few hours but
sometimes I will only have to once or twice a day. I update my packages
several times a day hoping for a fix to this.

Re: [Bug 744194] Re: In bfb dash, file results should come below application results

I think we need to review this behaviour carefully in Oneiric.

If you have a perfect match app, then yes, I agree. If you have a
partial match app, but a great match file, then I don't. I think the
user will expect a give me what I want story, not a Files before
Apps or the other way around story.

Re: [Bug 742582] Re: Add touch gesture events

2011-04-02 Thread Mark Shuttleworth
I just caught up with the thread in this bug.

Scott, you're right, Duncan was out of line to phrase the request the
way he did. I had reminded the touch and Unity teams the set of gestures
they were supposed to support and deliver, and that required the API /
ABI change. The only consumer of those API's is Unity, and the gestures
are essential for the usability of the interface with multi-touch pads.
So, since the regression risk was tightly contained, it seemed a
reasonable ask.

Re: [Bug 745894] Re: Xorg freeze

2011-04-02 Thread newlife
hi Bryce,
about the frozen screen i think it is not possible to take a
screenshot 'cause I wasn't able to do anything.
I tried to do something but the only way to reset the system was to do
an hard reset using the power button.
Instead about the command u wrote to me i'll provide u the output asap.
Bye

2011/4/2 Bryce Harrington 745...@bugs.launchpad.net:
Hi newlife, could you take a photo of the screen when it is frozen and
corrupted?  Sometimes the patterns give developers clues as to the
 memory layout in the driver.

Also, can you provide the output of this command?

2011-04-02 Thread Raphaël Hertzog
What were you doing when you got this error?

What APT frontend were you using (among update-manager, synaptic,
software-center) ?

This log makes it clear that the problem is on the frontend really.
Because the packages are configured in the second dpkg run and it tries
to configure them again on the next run.

Re: [Bug 735369] Re: Bacula Admin Tool (bat) does not work well with Qt 4.6.2 in Lucid

2011-04-02 Thread Kern Sibbald
On Saturday 02 April 2011 02:23:21 Clint Byrum wrote:
Kern, does this mean that there is an explicit fix in the code of 5.2.0
that will make this problem go away on Qt 4.6.2 ?

There have been a very large number of changes to bat from 5.0.x to 5.2.0,
including new features, bug fixes, and particularly seg fault fixes. I am
sorry, I don't remember the specifics, and since I did not explicitly
reproduce the reported bug, I am not sure there is an explicit fix, but I

[Bug 748074] [NEW] Preferences programs won't start

2011-04-02 Thread Jeroen T. Vermeulen
Public bug reported:

I'm testing natty on an amd64 system upgraded from previous Ubuntu
versions. I'm trying to change my preferences, and the only way I've
found (bug 748070) that I might achieve that is to know the name of the
Gnome preferences program I want, search for it, and then click on its
icon as it appears in the search box.

When I do that, nothing useful happens. The search box goes away, but
no preferences program appears.

[Bug 747263] Re: INSTALLATION FAILURE- crashed packages

2011-04-02 Thread GTriderXC
I found something more and I'm no longer sure whether the bug is
connected with ubiquity. When I'm installing the system in English
language version without the third party plugins the installation
succedes and the system starts as long as I will not install virtualbox
guest additions but it's rather not connected with this bug.

[Bug 720066] Re: indicator-weather should re-use the time-format of other indicators

2011-04-02 Thread Vadim Rutkovsky
Thanks for the patch, Panagiotis!
A quick dependency question - which packages are required for this (I assume,
that is 'python-gobject' only)?
Also, that crashes for me now, if I remove 'try-except' block:
AttributeError: type object 'FileEnumerator' has no attribute '__info__'

I guess, it is a pygi bug, but I can't find it any bugreport on this -
maybe, some required packages were not installed?

2011-04-02 Thread Bryce Harrington
@JFo, please add this one to the kernel team's list. This is a pretty
serious bug that a lot of people are seeing, but upstream thinks the
attached patch will help.

So next action is probably to roll a kernel with this fix for folks to
test.
