[Bug 723603] Re: vsftpd no longer supports both anonymous_enable and local_enable
Alain, first, thanks for responding and working with us to try and nail down this issue. vsftpd is run via an upstart job when you start it with 'service vsftpd start'. This means it will be a direct child of pid 1, and not be subject to any of the limits you may have imposed on your login shell. I'd say that starting it manually isn't really a supported way to start vsftpd. Do you get the errors about pam_shells if you start with 'service vsftpd start', or only when starting it manually? Marking Incomplete again, pending response from Alain. My guess is that there's no bug, just poor documentation on best practices for daemons that are setup to be managed via upstart. ** Changed in: vsftpd (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to vsftpd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/723603 Title: vsftpd no longer supports both anonymous_enable and local_enable -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 766242] Re: lp:ubuntu/cloud-init is not buildable by bzr-builder
Are you certain this is a problem with the branch? The branch matches what is in the Ubuntu archives exactly. bzr bd -S from the branch and apt-get source produce identical .dsc/.debian.tar.gz/.orig.tar.gz files. It seems more appropriate then that bzr-builder should be able to read this the same way bzr-buildpackage does .. not that this branch should somehow be changed to suit bzr-builder. I notice that all of the patches are to catch the branch up with upstream trunk. Maybe whats really broken is that you need to have your recipe remove the patches from the build entirely. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/766242 Title: lp:ubuntu/cloud-init is not buildable by bzr-builder -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I agree but can't seem to figure out what it is. Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to report bugs and trying to make Ubuntu Server better. According to the information you have provided, it seems that the reason why it failed to upgrade is because one of the parameters can not contain the ' '(space) character in it: newaliases: warning: valid_hostname: invalid character 32(decimal): Front Desk So, this means that you would have to change the parameter accordingly to not to have any space characters in it. This is a well known, and non-trivial bug that you've run into. It is well documented in bug #321091. Marking this one as duplicate of that one. [Bug 773864] [NEW] root crontab file has disapeard on my maverick box
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cron I know for a fact hey ware there, cause a couple of days ago I had to edit (sudo crontab -l) to comment a few lines for a test I was doing (trying a new backup program). Today, when I was done testing, I wanted to uncomment the lines to roll back the old backup schedule and the crontab was empty... sudo crontab -e also indicated it empty and in /var/spool/cron/crontabs I have found only the users files, not the root one. Then, after I have cryed a little, I have found this post http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10742514#post10742514 with someone describing the same issue, but in Lucid then I have posted this bug report. I am not sure if there is a workaround, a way to reproduce the symptoms, a way to get my crontab file back (my /var/spool where never backed up), or if there was a recent crontab upgrade during my testing... but I can tell I had to reboot a couple of times theese days, and never expected this to happen. ** Affects: cron (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773864 Title: root crontab file has disapeard on my maverick box -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 773867] [NEW] menu bar corrupted and unreadable. still works.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg The top menu bar has corrupted. No icon or text is legible. However the items in the bar still work. For example, I can click where the time display *was* and I get the calendar dropdown. But the time is not visible on the menu bar anymore -- just a graduated stippled corruption. I also notice a blank icon space in the unity bar left of screen - -not sure if that is related. When I do the workspace switcher, the menu bar on those 4 screens is identically corrupt. Testcase 3: Lucid 10.04.2 on E: drive (ntfs partition /dev/sda3) = Grub version in wubildr at install 1.98-1ubuntu5 Grub version in Ubuntu at install 1.98-1ubuntu10 debconf-show grub-pc --- install-devices: blank Test method: Add Proposed to sources, and update grub-pc through synaptic (not running other updates) Expected result: === 1. wubildr on /dev/sda2 will be updated (that's C:) 2. grub modules added to /boot/grub 3. /boot/grub/grub.cfg changes as expected with new modules present. 4. No prompt to install grub to /dev/sda Results: = 1. wubildr on /dev/sda2 not updated 2. grub modules not added to /boot/grub 3. /boot/grub/grub.cfg not changed 4. There was no prompt to install grub to /dev/sda (grub is now version 1.98-1ubuntu12) Conclusion: This will stop this bug (installing grub to drive MBR). But I expected wubildr to be updated. [Bug 759529] Re: iwlagn degrades quickly during normal wifi session
I experienced this error yesterday but have been having wireless issues today without this message. Although I can see from /var/log/syslog that it is disconnecting and reconnecting, if I disable ipv6 with the following sysctl settings it has so far prevented the GUI network manager from going into a infinite reconnecting loop - net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1 I should say that I am not a Linux expert so this has just been through 'nothing ventured nothing gained' testing on my own machine. I noticed some warnings about ipv6 and I know I don't use it so it made sense to see whether disabling it helped. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/759529 Title: iwlagn degrades quickly during normal wifi session -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
