[Bug 799711] Re: o2cb[11796]: ERROR: ocfs2_controld.pcmk did not come up

2011-06-23 Thread HenningMalzahn
Hello Andres,

I have to apologize having files this as a bug. It definitely was a simple
configuration issue on my side. The problem
was not having installed the package openais.

1. Where did you install the tools from? From the Ubuntu Archive or from the
PPA given at the HowTo? (Tools in the Ubuntu archive do not support
OCFS2/Pacemaker clusters, and that's why we were pointing to the ones on PPA)
- Yes, packages were installed/ upgraded using the PPA.

2. Did you install OpenAIS? If not please do so. If yes, List what's in
/etc/corosync/service.d/
- No, it was not. After installing it all services came up fine.

3. When you dpkg-reconfigure ocfs2-tools package, and after the output has
finished showing, did you disable o2cb as showed in the HowTo? sudo
update-rc.d o2cb disable
- Yes, did that. Enabled the services to be loaded at boot time and answered
all other questions accepting the defaults.

4. When you use OCFS2 with pacemaker you *don't* have to create
/etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf. Please drop that file.
- Did that too.

As mentioned above simply following the steps of the HowTo lead to a
properly working dual master configuration.

Thank you for your help!

So long

Henning

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error caused by a corrupted
archive. Please execute the following commands, as it will clear your
package cache, in a terminal ( Applications - Accessories - Terminal )
:

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue. If so please set the bug's status to Invalid. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 799311] Re: package bacula-director-mysql 5.0.1-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-06-23 Thread James Page
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

For some unknown reason the table 'mysql.servers' is missing; you should
be able to fix this up by running the following command:

  sudo mysql_fix_privilege_tables --user=root --password=password
--verbose

You should then be able to complete the installation by running:

  sudo dpkg-reconfigure bacula-director-mysql

Please mark this bug as 'Invalid' if this resolves your issue.

Thanks

Hi Alessio

It looks like the configuration file for Bacula Director has been
removed (see the error message in #2).

You should be able to restore this file and complete the update by
running:

  sudo dpkg-reconfigure bacula-director-mysql
  sudo apt-get -f install

If this resolves your issue please mark this bug as 'Invalid'.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

This is most likely a transient error; re-running the upgrade should
complete OK.

It looks like its probably a duplicate of bug 670981 in dpkg - marking
it so.

2011-06-23 Thread James Page
Hi Arthur

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Looking at the error message in #2 it would appear that another process
had a lock on /var/cache/debconf/config.dat.

Most often, this is only a transient situation. Simply performing the update
again should solve this
issue.

If it continues to happen fuser -v will return the locking process if
any. Kill it and try performing the upgrade again.

If this resolves your issue please mark this bug as 'Invalid'

Thanks

[Bug 796329] Re: package slapd 2.4.23-6ubuntu6 failed to remove: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2011-06-23 Thread James Page
Hi Patrick

It looks like the olcPidFile entry is missing from your slapd
configuration; I also noticed this error in your original bug report:

CNConfig: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory

which indicates that the configuration is general not good.

The premoval script attempts to shutdown slapd prior to removing the
package; if the olcPidFile entry is not present in
/etc/ldap/slapd.d/cn=config.ldif or /etc/ldap/slapd.conf (depending on
your configuration style) the removal will fail as it is unable to
shutdown the slapd process.

You should be able to resolve this situation by running the following
commands (if you are using /etc/ldap/slapd.d configuration style):

  sudo echo olcPidFile: /var/run/slapd/slapd.pid
/etc/ldap/slapd.d/cn=config.ldif
  sudo apt-get remove slapd

Please mark this bug report as 'Invalid' if this resolves your issue.

Thanks

[Bug 801098] [NEW] Unable to create VM when .iso file is stored on external USB drive

2011-06-23 Thread Louis Bouchard
Public bug reported:

When using the following virt-install command, the installation fails
with a Permission denied trying to access the ubuntu-10.10-server-
amd64.iso file stored on an external USB drive :

/usr/bin/virt-install --connect qemu:///system\
--name MaverickS\
--ram 1024 \
--disk
path=/var/lib/libvirt/images/MaverickS.img,size=8\
--disk
path=/media/Maxtor/ISO/ubuntu-10.10-server-amd64.iso,device=cdrom \
--os-type linux \
--os-variant ubuntumaverick \
--accelerate\
--network network=default \
--arch x86_64 \
--vcpus 2 \
--vnc \
--debug

The mountpoint /media/Maxtor is a USB drive which is mounted
automatically when powered on.

When mounting the drive manually, the creation of the VM succeeds :

$ mount | grep Maxtor
/dev/sdb1 on /media/Maxtor type fuseblk
(rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,blksize=4096,default_permissions)
$ sudo umount /media/Maxtor
$ sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt
$ mount | grep sdb
/dev/sdb1 on /mnt type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,blksize=4096)

The virt-install has been run both time in debug mode and log files are
attached for both sessions.

[Bug 801038] Re: libvirt-bin can not check the correct status of libvirtd

2011-06-23 Thread James Page
Hi Qiao

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

The different between your two test cases is that you are not using the
init system to start libvirtd in case 1. This means that the init
system (upstart) does not track the libvirtd instance in any way - hence
the return of:

  service libvirt-bin status
  libvirt-bin stop/waiting

In the second case you started it using the init system through the use
of service; so it is then tracked by upstart.

Unless you start libvirt-bin using service (or start) upstart will not
be able to track the libvirtd process.

Marking as 'Invalid' as this is not a bug.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It looks like your system is configured with an invalid hostname and
domain '04' (or at least that is how postfix has been configured).

You can set this manually in /etc/postfix/main.cf (look for the mydomain
parameter) - or you could re-configure your system with a valid host and
domain name.

You can then complete your upgrade by running:

   sudo dpkg-reconfigure postfix

If this resolves your issue please mark this bug as 'Invalid'

Thanks

[Bug 794337] Re: package postfix (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso instalado el script post-installation devolvió el código de salida de error 75

2011-06-23 Thread James Page
Hi Roman

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.

Looks like you system was not configured with a valid hostname and
domain name - as a result the postfix configuration is broken which is
why you keep seeing this issue.

You can fix this by editing /etc/postfix/main.cf - look for the
myhostname parameter; run the following commands in a terminal to fix
the file and then complete the installation.

  sudo vi /etc/postfix/main.cf
  sudo dpkg-reconfigure postfix
  sudo apt-get -f install

or you could configure your system with a valid host and domain name -
but that is a little more complicated.

If this resolves your issue please mark the bug report as 'Invalid'

Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

It would appear that you do not have a full qualified domain name (FQDN)
for the Ubuntu system that you are trying to install amavisd-new on.

Please follow the advice in the error message in #11 to resolve this

[Bug 801098] Re: Unable to create VM when .iso file is stored on external USB drive

2011-06-23 Thread James Page
Hi Louis

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Assuming that you are running on maverick+ the issue with kvm not being
able to access the .iso image on your external hard drive is due to the
fact that by default the kvm processes that virt-install/libvirt starts
run as 'libvirt-qemu'; when your hard drive automounts it does it in
user space which means that only your account can do anything on the
drive - including reading data which blocks libvirt/kvm access to the
iso images.

When you unmount the drive and re-mount it as root it gets a different
set of permissions which means that the libvirt-qemu account can access
the .iso images.

You could work around this by changing the settings in
/etc/libvirt/qemu.conf so that the kvm processes run as root; however
you do need to consider the security implications of this (it normally
runs as libvirt-qemu for good reasons).

I'm going to mark this ticket as 'Invalid' as I believe this is the
expected behaviour for removable drives.

[Bug 801123] [NEW] sshd init script does not use the option --pidfile

2011-06-23 Thread Tamas Papp
Public bug reported:

The problem described in #277120, but it's closed with INVALID.

So again, the option --pidfile is not used in the init script, because it's
value gets overwritten by sshd_config settings.
It should get the right value from the config file, which is defined in
/etc/default/ssh-whatever in a perfect world.

The name of the default file should come from the name of the init

This all is necessary for a multi instance setup.

[Bug 801115] Re: package tomcat6 6.0.28-10ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-06-23 Thread James Page
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It looks like one of the configuration files associated with the tomcat6
installation has been removed; as result the post-installation
maintenance script is unable to complete successfully.

You can either restore this file (if you have a copy of the original)
and then run:

  sudo apt-get -f install

in a terminal or you can purge the tomcat6 package and re-install by
running the following commands:

  sudo apt-get purge tomcat6
  sudo apt-get install tomcat6

Hopefully this should resolve your issue; please mark the bug report as
'Invalid' if it does.

Thanks

OK so its this part of your configuration which is causing the problem:

cache_dir null no-store

I believe this should be dealt with during an upgrade

[Bug 800468] Re: squid upgrade breaks if 'cache_dir null' in use

2011-06-23 Thread James Page
The issue is that the post installation script attempts to chown the
cache_dir directory with appropriate permissions; however as cache_dir
null does not have a directory type it tried to chown the next argument
which in this configuration is no-store.

Adam

You could work around this by re-enabling the original cache_dir
configuration option during the upgrade and then restoring your
configuration once it had been completed.

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation.

Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin
work, I'm going to mark it as 'Triaged and let them handle it from here.
As the workaround is relatively easier I've set its importance as 'Low'.

Great, James. I'm glad I could help out. I wouldn't think there are a

unique, so it figures I'd find something a bit obscure. It should be an

2 basic ways Ensemble could integrate with Orchestra:
a.) orchestra add an ec2 interface... ensemble is probably pretty low in
requirements (ListInstances, RunInstances...) - Orchestra todo, can use a
subset
b.) ensemble support interacting with orchestra via cobbler's api. -
option a seems agreed on

  OpenStack:
  - need to allow OpenStack object storage (swift) in addition to S3 storage
  - need to distinguish between Rackspace and OpenStack, we want to interact
with both
  - missing python-swift-twisted client library (txRackspace is a placeholder)
to OpenStack Object storage (To do for OpenStack)

Not enough resources in ensemble team to work on this

  ACTION:
   * gustavo to send soren email regarding needed api functions for twisted
client lib
   * cloud init to support Rackspace meta-data (nice, not required)
   * orchestra to give a twisted API to create physilcal machine that ensemble

[Bug 799711] Re: o2cb[11796]: ERROR: ocfs2_controld.pcmk did not come up

2011-06-23 Thread HenningMalzahn
Hello again,

after a while the setup stopped working completely. Even though the
status (cat /proc/drbd) showed that everything was ok on both nodes the
following message was issued when trying to mount the device on the
first node

root@node1:[/tmp] # mount -t ocfs2 /dev/drbd2 /var/www/
mount.ocfs2: Unable to access cluster service while trying to join the group

After rebooting both nodes things still did not work out. The attempt to
mount the device manually ended up with the message

root@node1:[~] # mount -t ocfs2 /dev/drbd2 /var/www/
mount.ocfs2: Device or resource busy while mounting /dev/drbd2 on /var/www/.
Check 'dmesg' for more information on this error.

I was not able to see anything related in dmesg.

I suspect that the problems might have to do with the fact that I used
the device in a master/ slave setup before and the device was formatted
with ext4. After getting the master/master setup to work I simply
reformatted the device using ocfs2. I reinitialized the device
completely using the commands

Both nodes
drbdadm create-md r2

drbdadm attach r2

drbdadm syncer r2

Second node:
drbdadm -- --discard-my-data connect r2

First node:
drbdadm -- --overwrite-data-of-peer primary r2

drbdadm connect r2

Afterwards I formatted the device again using ocfs2.

Let's see whether things are working reliably now...

So long

Henning

2011-06-23 Thread Scott Moser
We've seen this twice now (also under bug 792746)

I think I see a way that this could have failed. If there is no
/var/lib/eucalyptus/db when the upgrade is started then I think the
postinst will fail this way.

So, I have 2 questions
a.) did you have data that you were expecting to be ugpraded? Ie, was this more
than just a test?
If so, can you give output of 'find /var/backups/eucalyptus/'
b.) is there anything that you may have done that might have caused a funny
state prior to upgrade?

If you're just looking to get through the upgrade, I think you might be able to
do so by:
  sudo mkdir /var/lib/eucalyptus/db
  sudo apt-get -f install

[Bug 785171] Re: Samba works or may not work quite random

2011-06-23 Thread Scott Moser
Can you please clarify .
I think that your problem is:
 - ubuntu 10.04 desktop system
 - multiple other systems on the network (one of which is linux mint) sharing
files
 - ubuntu desktop sometimes is not able to list network shares

Questions:
 - When you say with the firewall disabled it usuallly shows my other home
comupters and does a mount, is it the ubuntu desktop system?
 - What do you mean by firewall disabled. What firewall are you using? What
settings does it have?
 - Why do you think the firewall is at all related, when you seem to indicate
that it fails both with and without the firewall disabled.

It seems like you're saying usually it works if I disable firewall
(I'm assuming that means on the desktop system)

[Bug 795358] Re: vmbuilder script fails on deploy/cleanup

2011-06-23 Thread Scott Moser
Simply looking reading the bug description and looking at code, the
solution seems sane. It appears like the change to Libvirt:deploy
should have been made at the same time the change to 'preflight_check'
was [1].

[Bug 716659] Re: [EMC Clarion] - Root filesystem goes Read only after installing multipath-tools on Lucid

2011-06-23 Thread Joseph Salisbury
@Peter

The decision was made to install Ubuntu on an internal disk and not the
SAN. The issue was still happening at that time with 10.04 and 10.10.
However, the system is not in productions, so it cannot be reconfigured.

[Bug 716659] Re: [EMC Clarion] - Root filesystem goes Read only after installing multipath-tools on Lucid

2011-06-23 Thread Peter Petrakis
Moving visibility to private since this is an resolved customer support issue.
We can't fix it if they're not willing to work with us. That probably means
either remote access or on site troubleshooting.

[Bug 795717] Re: 32bit rhel and centos 5.(5|6) hangs on boot on natty

2011-06-23 Thread Scott Moser
In your kvm command line above, it says
file=/var/lib/libvirt/images/LinuxISOs/ubuntu-8.04-server-i386.iso.
So I'm guessing its at least not the exact log that failed (since you
mention centos 5.5 and 5.6).

Also when the guest crashes, could you get a dmesg ?
