[Bug 805937] Re: smbd segfaults at least twice a day
I all so appear to be getting this error. I have enabled 'debug level = 3' in my smb.conf so am waiting for another error to get some more information. It happens a random amount of times a day. It appears to happen when you connect to a share or try to open a file on the share. I have only experienced the problem on Windows 7 client but I don't access the share often from Ubuntu clients. smb.conf - (with out comments) --- [global] workgroup = WORKGROUP server string = %h server (Samba, Ubuntu) dns proxy = no follow symlinks=yes unix extensions = no debug level = 3 log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m max log size = 1000 syslog = 0 panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d encrypt passwords = true passdb backend = tdbsam obey pam restrictions = yes unix password sync = yes passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u passwd chat = *Enter\snew\s*\spassword:* %n\n *Retype\snew\s*\spassword:* %n\n *password\supdated\ssuccessfully* . pam password change = yes map to guest = bad user usershare allow guests = yes --- lsb_release -rd --- Description:Ubuntu 11.04 Release:11.04 --- uname -a --- Linux niall-desktop 2.6.38-11-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 29 19:02:55 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux --- apt-cache policy samba --- samba: Installed: 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.3 Candidate: 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.3 Version table: *** 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.3 0 500 http://ucmirror.canterbury.ac.nz/ubuntu/ natty-security/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://ucmirror.canterbury.ac.nz/ubuntu/ natty/main amd64 Packages --- --- [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] 0x7fd99f6b01ae in waitpid () from /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 #0 0x7fd99f6b01ae in waitpid () from /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 #1 0x7fd99f644d6e in ?? [Bug 812847] Re: Importing ubuntu desktop no distro in webui
Im able to import and install the alternate cd using cobbler however instead of getting a desktop loading Im getting a server (terminal only) after boot, using the same cd and installing the machine manually does result with a desktop installed, I don't know how to make sense of it. [Bug 822167] [NEW] Guake content sticking off the bottom and side of window
Public bug reported: As can be seen in the attached screenshot, the content of the Guake terminal is extending past the edges of the window. I.e. the bottom row of text in my console is hidden, as well as the right edge. I am going to take a guess that the amount hidden relates directly to the height of the top bar and width of the launcher in Unity. I have my launcher set to always be visible. [Bug 571476] Re: Trim support missing from Linux kernel
I'd just wanted to add that this doesn't only effect laptop/netbook users. I have a low power server with an SSD (atom 5w) and would love trim support on that. I also recently bought 2 new rack servers each with an SSD drive for scientific computing purposes. I'm not terribly fond of having to use non-LTS server editions (though I'm not sure if they have as many problems as the non-LTS desktop which tend to have experimental GUI changes). [Bug 822103] Re: program freezes up crashes on large picture
The message stands for out of memory while trying to save the file. MyPaint was trying to create a 3824 x 11072 (127MB) pixbuf, which would be the size of your image. If your image should have been much smaller, you probably made some accidental faint strokes while zoomed out. Check whether your tablet pressure goes to exactly zero when you lift the pen. The good news: starting with MyPaint 0.9 we no longer allocate such a large pixbuf while saving, and saving is around 5 to 10 times faster than 0.8. The bad news: we still allocate the same sized pixbuf while loading (but drop it after). And people still occasionally report out of memory when working with huge images. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/822103 Title: program freezes up crashes on large picture To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mypaint/+bug/822103/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The original report says that this was with Kubuntu. Are the minimal memory requirements for a kubuntu install different than for an ubuntu install? [Bug 822194] [NEW] Grub2 Does Not Automatically Chain Load Other Unix Distribution
Public bug reported: This may be a small issue in some ways, but I don't think it is the best behaviour. Ubuntu 11.04 installed and working find. It chain loads Windows 7 fine. I then installed Fedora 15 and installed the boot loader for Fedora on its root partition. I then went back and booted into Ubuntu and ran a grub update. It found the Fedora installation and added an entry to the Ubuntu grub boot loader, but linked directly to the Fedora kernel, and not to the Fedora grub boot loader. This is now an issue in another way as I have been asked to check something on the Ubuntu 11.10 (alpha 3) release. In Live mode I cannot seem to do this. It would be nice to be able to install this (alpha3) without affecting my existing installation, and to be able to chain load to this development version. So in summary I think it would be best if when grub update is run it links to any boot loader on a root partition it can find, rather than directly to kernels on that partition. I expect there are manual work arounds, so I guess it is not an urgent issue. Otherwise all working well, please keep up the good work. ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/822194 Title: Grub2 Does Not Automatically Chain Load Other Unix Distribution To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/822194/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It does not work for a video either. When using F-spot, dragging a photo works. Since Shotwell and Pitivi are the default programs for what they do in 11.04, I think this is a bug from a user point of view. Also, since it works with nautilus, it seems this is a shotwell issue. [Bug 820810] Re: After upgrading from 10.04 system would not boot
Phillip, you are exactly right. I just remembered that there was another bug during the installation of 10.04.1 - I was installing from a USB flash disk. The installer was using /dev/sda instead of /dev/mapper/isw_ecdhgaacgh_Volume0, so I had to do some tricks in the console to get it working. The bug is described here: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1581163.html -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820810 Title: After upgrading from 10.04 system would not boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dmraid/+bug/820810/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
