Same here. Ubuntu Natty 11.04 amd64. Seems to be intermittent -- sometimes rebooting helps. [Bug 827531] [NEW] intel sandy bridge: X session sometimes unrecoverable after screensaver/display powersafe
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 11.04 x86_64 on a brand new Dell Latitude E6520 with Intel Sandy Bridge integrated GPU. Sometimes when the screeensaver blanked my screen, the X session wont recover completely: - Screen reactivates and shows the cursor on a black screen - nothing happens (waited some minutes) - switching to consoles is posssible - when switching back from console to X, mouse pointer shows on top of the consoles frame buffer - service gdm restarts works (until next display blank) - did not happen on AC power, yet - there are i915 hangcheck timer warnings from time to time Apart from that, I had 2 complete system freezes (X screen freezes, no switch to console, no access via SSH, no ping, ..) within about 2 weeks. [Bug 164233] Re: [Upstream] [hardy] Opening pdf with smooth gradient in Evince displays striped
I don't have time to chase it down at the moment but maybe you do, Chris. I recall reading some time ago that the problem is in the poppler PDF-writing library, which uses a broken algorithm to make the gradient out of a set of constant-color stripes whose edges are being rendered as white lines by some readers and not by others. Other PDF- writing programs that do not use poppler (from Win or Mac worlds) produce them differently. So the problem is in poppler, if I recall it all correctly. --jh-- -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/164233 Title: [Upstream] [hardy] Opening pdf with smooth gradient in Evince displays striped To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evince/+bug/164233/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 827544] [NEW] Sync murrine-themes 0.98.2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Public bug reported: Please sync murrine-themes 0.98.2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) It's cleaner for people who want to use this theme without installing the full xubuntu-artwork package (and we did like that for the previous theme - Albatross - a few releases ago). I'll remove them from xubuntu-artwork when this package is synced. (we also want the albatross update) Thanks. Changelog entries since current oneiric version 0.98.1: murrine-themes (0.98.2) unstable; urgency=low * Update Albatross theme to 1.1. * Add BlueBird 3.2 (Xubuntu 10.10) and Greybird 0.2.1 (Xubuntu 11.04) themes. * debian/control: - update standards version to 3.9.2. * debian/copyright updated. * debian/rules updated to use build-arch and build-indep targets. -- Yves-Alexis Perez Sun, 14 Aug 2011 23:39:24 +0200 ** Affects: murrine-themes (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: Confirmed ** Changed in: murrine-themes (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: murrine-themes (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/827544 Title: Sync murrine-themes 0.98.2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/murrine-themes/+bug/827544/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 487720] Re: Restore fails with "Invalid data - SHA1 hash mismatch"
** Description changed: - I'm trying to restore a large directory. Twice now, the restore has - failed at the same point about a third of the way through. Here's the - error: + When restoring a backup, one might see an error like: Invalid data - SHA1 hash mismatch: Calculated hash: 0b2bc4c2fb98b36f9891f9172f909d70ab5662e9 Manifest hash: 11cd330357618de52e4e5361a6e63b09ee951ae2 - Is there a way to resolve this via a command line duplicity call? That - would be helpful. I know that this backup completed. Could it have - something to do with the backup failing part way through and then - continuing the same backup? + This can happen when a volume file was not completely written to the + backend before duplicity was interrupted (say, shutting down the machine + or whatever). When duplicity resumes the backup next run, it will start + with the next volume. The half-complete volume file will sit on the + backend and cause this error later when restoring. - deja-dup 11.1-0ubuntu0karmic1 - duplicity 0.6.06-0ubuntu0karmic1 + You can manually recover from this by either restoring from your older + backup sets or by restoring individual files that don't happen to be in + the corrupted volume. - Ubuntu 9.10 + == To Reproduce == + + See attachment + https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/duplicity/+bug/487720/+attachment/2159465/+files/test.sh + for a test script tor reproduce the problem. + + == Ubuntu SRU Justification == + + This is a serious data loss problem for users, which won't be noticed + until they try to restore. [Bug 827520] Re: All keyboard input results in "beeping"
** Summary changed: - xxx + All keyboard input results in "beeping" ** Description changed: - x + This problem happens on Oneiric, running either Unity or Unity 2d. I + have not determined what starts the condition but at some point typing + on the keyboard causes the pc speaker to 'beep' on keydown and again on + debounce. For example, if one wanted to type "exit" in a terminal + window, you'd navigate to the window with the mouse, hold the "e" key + down until you hear two beeps. One beep happens on initial key down. + You'd do this for each letter you type until you have typed in the + desired text. This also happens on all key modifiers. [Bug 823185] Re: [MIR] colord
Thanks for the reply! The way I look at this is from the perspective of risk. There are two scenarios for crossing privilege boundaries: - the local user attacking colord via malicious DBus calls (to gain colord privs) - an external user attacking colord via inserted media (to gain colord privs) If we don't scan media by default, then the entire external attack goes away. If colord doesn't run as root, then a local attacker gains very little from attacking colord. The reason I'm so nervous about this is because colord is effectively a direct path to lcms parsing. Any user can trigger the lcms parser _as the root user_, and lcms has a non-zero history of security flaws: low(2): CVE-2009-0581 CVE-2009-0793 medium(3): CVE-2008-5317 CVE-2009-0723 CVE-2009-0733 I would much prefer this daemon run as some "colord" system user instead of as root. The default for any daemon should be to run with least privilege. ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2008-5317 ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2009-0581 ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2009-0723 ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2009-0733 ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2009-0793 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/823185 Title: [MIR] colord To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/colord/+bug/823185/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
