[Bug 823494] Re: Virt-manager upgrade 0.9.0 is not in sync with libvirt
May be yes and might be no. Oneiric's X-Server can handle request for 32M vram coming from QXL device qemu-kvm 's userland process running Spice session. It works for install and for runtime. Patch is completely harmless for libvirt. I believe it's understandable. But as soon as amount of vram requested by QXL device comes up to 64M X-Server becomes unable to handle this request. I carefully read xserver-xorg-video-qxl description and went to conclusion that it's functionality is not connected to this problem. libvirt has a significant Ubuntu delta, not least of which is adjusting it for AppArmor, apport, libvirt-migrate-qemu-disks (needed until 12.04), different groups, openiscsi, etc, etc. Glancing at the Debian changelog, these have not been upstreamed. Sorry, I assume that's what I meant. Note I intended to do the merge myself. But it seems this should get FFE approval (or else not be done), as version-to-version libvirt changes could be fragile. Re: [Bug 652433] Re: Init script dependency error: krb5-kdc starts before slapd
Excerpts from Clint Byrum's message of Wed Aug 17 10:56:55 -0700 2011: Excerpts from Ryan Tandy's message of Wed Aug 17 17:29:36 UTC 2011: I have noticed that the slapd init script terminates before slapd is actually ready to accept connections, and I think that is the problem you're having too. In my scripts that stop/start slapd I always have to insert a 'sleep 1' before I can do any LDAP operations. I've also noticed that on a sufficiently fast machine the time between S17slapd and S18krb5-kdc is short enough that the KDC can fail to start. I worked around it by adding 'invoke-rc.d krb5-kdc start' in /etc/rc.local but I'm sure a better solution is possible. Looking through slapd's code, it does in fact fork and exit before activating its listener threads. The detach code needs to actually wait for some message from the children that the listeners have started, or the parent should do the listening before forking. I filed bug #828237 to track this. Thanks for the tip Ryan! FYI, bug 828237 is actually fixed in Oneiric, I didn't realize that there was a patch to do just that included. Not sure if its SRU'able to lucid, but the workaround of sleeping for 1 second after it starts is probably the best workaround at present. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to krb5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/652433 Title: Init script dependency error: krb5-kdc starts before slapd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/krb5/+bug/652433/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 823494] Re: Virt-manager upgrade 0.9.0 is not in sync with libvirt
I went trough http://mentors.debian.net/package/spice-gtk it reproduces exactly packaging schema of spice-gtk-0.7.1-1.fc16.src.rpm. The same dependency bug which was resolved on Ubuntu a while ago (Spice-Gtk-0.6) popped up again. I saw this way of building Spice-Gtk-0.7 as soon as spice-gtk-0.7.1-1.fc16.src.rpm was out (about 07/30/11) along with dependency issue. Why I didn't work as I could ? I believe it's pretty much understandable. The final goal is to reproduce F16's Spice-Gtk-0.7's files layout on Debian or Ubuntu picking up right libraries and run ./configure with right options for right packages. Question of packaging is question of professional software design, nothing else, and time been spent to perform this design. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/823494 Title: Virt-manager upgrade 0.9.0 is not in sync with libvirt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/823494/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 746892] Re: Keyboard randomly stops working, but autorepeat and mouse work
SUCCESSFULLY DIAGNOSED, with WORKAROUND Many thanks to Thomas Lübking for help diagnosing This is due to an accessibility feature known as slow keys *Somehow*, the feature gets randomly activated during normal use of the OS. The normal user warning for this is a system bell (which may not be heard), so it's easy to miss; there is no graphical indicator of any sort. Normally though, this feature should not be activated in the first place. FIX / WORKAROUND: - open the System Settings Accessibility (or type kcmshell4 access in a terminal) - under [tab]Keyboard Filters you may see Sticky Keys enabled if you are suffering from this; disable it and hit Apply - to prevent this from happening again, go to [tab]Activation Gestures, disable Use gestures to activate..., set the inactivity timeout to the lowest possible setting (1min), and enable all the notification features suggested severity: Highest (because it makes people's system unusable and they have no idea how to fix it) how this should be fixed: - source of random activation should be found and fixed how this can be mitigated: - kubuntu system settings should be set to those described in FIX to reduce chances of occurring - KDE code can be modified to show a prominent accessibility status indicator, or require typing confirm This is bug is suspected to be due to an Ubuntu configuration of either the base system or KDE packages, though I am unsure what might affect usability settings of all desktops. (Maybe it's also possible that there exists some activation gesture which will cause a popup to appear, but the user will hit Enter while typing?) go4linux's comment should also be investigated, because it may indicate this problem is also occurring in other desktop environments; if so that would help track down the cause of the random activations if it's the same issue -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/746892 Title: Keyboard randomly stops working, but autorepeat and mouse work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/746892/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 485755] Re: openoffice.org-kde : Drag and Drop to not visible Area = Crash
hefeweiz3n, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
