Yes it did, thank you :) what a silly error on my part xD.

In the updated named.conf, the second to last line does not have a

 but should be

 file /etc/bind/db.192;

Does making that correction solve your problem?

[Bug 828585] [NEW] ssh client prioritises ssh-agent keys over -i

2011-08-18 Thread Chris Jones
Public bug reported:

I have many ssh keys loaded into my ssh agent. If I specify a specific key on
the command line with ssh -i, the ssh client still offers all of my agent keys
before trying the one I specified.
This has the unfortunate consequences of:
 * hitting login attempt limits on (many?) ssh daemons
 * slowing down the login process

[Bug 823494] Re: Virt-manager upgrade 0.9.0 is not in sync with libvirt

2011-08-18 Thread Boris Derzhavets
May be yes and might be no. Oneiric's X-Server can handle request for 32M
vram coming from QXL device qemu-kvm 's userland
process running Spice session. It works for install and for runtime. Patch is
completely harmless for libvirt. I believe it's understandable. But as soon as
amount of vram requested by QXL device comes up to 64M X-Server becomes
unable to handle this request. I carefully read xserver-xorg-video-qxl
description and went to conclusion that it's functionality is not connected to
this
problem. As far as Qemu-kvm 0.15.0, Spice, QXL are NOT legitimate guests of
Oneiric OS i cannot escalate the issue due to the
issue appears to be a problem of my private PPA's development.

[Bug 828813] [NEW] ntlm_auth fails to use cached credentials

2011-08-18 Thread ghomem
Public bug reported:

When a user is authenticated against an AD server it is supposed to be
able to use Windows Integrate Authentication for login on NTLM based
websites. This means that the user won't be prompted for a password on
such sites since the cached credentials can be used.

On Linux this is achieved by using the ntlm_auth command which is broken
on winbind from samba 3.4. There is an upstream bug report and official
patch for samba 3.5 here:

https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7589

If possible this should be backported to 10.04 LTS.

[Bug 828792] Re: [FFE] Please sync from debian unstable

2011-08-18 Thread Jamie Strandboge
libvirt has a significant Ubuntu delta, not least of which is adjusting
it for AppArmor, apport, libvirt-migrate-qemu-disks (needed until
12.04), different groups, openiscsi, etc, etc. Glancing at the Debian
changelog, these have not been upstreamed. AFAICT, this should be an FFe
for a merge, not sync.

Serge, can you elaborate?

[Bug 828792] Re: [FFE] Please sync from debian unstable

2011-08-18 Thread Serge Hallyn
Sorry, I assume that's what I meant.

Note I intended to do the merge myself. But it seems this should get
FFE approval (or else not be done), as version-to-version libvirt
changes could be fragile.

Also, if we decide this is a bad idea, then we should probably also not
merge qemu-0.15.0 (which also has an open FFE request which I was going
to tackle).

I'm hoping to get candidate packages for both by tomorrow.

[Bug 828437] Re: chkrootkit cron job went nuts, spawned 14 instances and consumed nearly 90% of my ram

2011-08-18 Thread Jeff Lane
Serge: at the moment, no. I can't manually reproduce it. However, I
left the machine sitting over night and came back this morning to find
that it was stuck yet again, this time, the egrep process was using
7.1GB of 8GB, but PS only showed 2 instances running...

I'm currently running tiger manually to see if it's tiger itself, or
something related to running via CRON. after the manual run, I'll try
running the commands from the cron scripts manually and see if that
recreates the issue.

Re: [Bug 652433] Re: Init script dependency error: krb5-kdc starts before slapd

2011-08-18 Thread Clint Byrum
Excerpts from Clint Byrum's message of Wed Aug 17 10:56:55 -0700 2011:
Excerpts from Ryan Tandy's message of Wed Aug 17 17:29:36 UTC 2011:
I have noticed that the slapd init script terminates before slapd is
actually ready to accept connections, and I think that is the problem
you're having too. In my scripts that stop/start slapd I always have to
insert a 'sleep 1' before I can do any LDAP operations. I've also
noticed that on a sufficiently fast machine the time between S17slapd
and S18krb5-kdc is short enough that the KDC can fail to start. I
worked around it by adding 'invoke-rc.d krb5-kdc start' in /etc/rc.local
but I'm sure a better solution is possible.

Looking through slapd's code, it does in fact fork and exit before
activating its listener threads. The detach code needs to actually wait
for some message from the children that the listeners have started,
or the parent should do the listening before forking.

I filed bug #828237 to track this. Thanks for the tip Ryan!

FYI, bug 828237 is actually fixed in Oneiric, I didn't realize that
there was a patch to do just that included.

Not sure if its SRU'able to lucid, but the workaround of sleeping for
1 second after it starts is probably the best workaround at present.

[Bug 814819] Re: [FFE]Update to antlr3 version 3.2

2011-08-18 Thread James Page
I did a quick rebuild test with this new version of antlr3:

Reverse Build-depends in universe:
-

eclipselink: OK
drools: FTBFS (I think it needs 3.0 - generated files seem to be included in
upstream source.)
svnkit: OK
forked-daapd: FTBFS (* but might not be antlr)
jabref: OK

Found a total of 5 reverse build-depend(s) for antlr3.

[Bug 823494] Re: Virt-manager upgrade 0.9.0 is not in sync with libvirt

2011-08-18 Thread Boris Derzhavets
I went trough http://mentors.debian.net/package/spice-gtk it reproduces
exactly packaging schema of
spice-gtk-0.7.1-1.fc16.src.rpm. The same dependency bug which was resolved on
Ubuntu a while ago
(Spice-Gtk-0.6) popped up again. I saw this way of building Spice-Gtk-0.7 as
soon as spice-gtk-0.7.1-1.fc16.src.rpm
was out (about 07/30/11) along with dependency issue. Why I didn't work as I
could ?
I believe it's pretty much understandable. The final goal is to reproduce
F16's Spice-Gtk-0.7's files layout on
Debian or Ubuntu picking up right libraries and run ./configure with right
options for right packages.
Question of packaging is question of professional software design, nothing
else, and time been spent to perform this design.

Re: [Bug 820691] Re: mysql will be stopped, but not started again, on transition from runlevel 1 to 2

2011-08-18 Thread Clint Byrum
Excerpts from Tavish Armstrong's message of Thu Aug 18 16:56:34 UTC 2011:
This bug also affects me. When our OpenVZ servers reboot, MySQL won't
 restart automatically.

 The following fixes my case.

 start on ( local-filesystems
 and runlevel [2345])
 stop on runlevel [016]

local-filesystems *always* precedes runlevel [2345]. So
the and in the start on is redundant.

start on runlevel [2345]

Is simpler and solves the bug.

Re: [Bug 828237] Re: slapd forks and exits before it is listening, creating a race between listening and any dependent services

2011-08-18 Thread Clint Byrum
Excerpts from Ryan Tandy's message of Thu Aug 18 18:19:48 UTC 2011:
Thanks for the tip about it having been fixed already. The patch from
oneiric applies cleanly to the lucid version so I have added it to my
local package. It seems to work fine. I guess the issue isn't severe
 enough to merit SRUing?

My gut reaction is no.. as it has a somewhat high degree of regression
potential, and straight forward workarounds exist.

Maybe a more acceptable SRU would be to actually just add the sleep 1
to the init.d script in lucid.

[Bug 829061] [NEW] [SRU] double free of mpp-dmi in free_multipath()

So it looks like we are trying to free a non-NULL value here:

 if (mpp-dmi)
  FREE(mpp-dmi);

What's suspicious is that, after freeing that, we don't set it to NULL.

I took a look at upstream git, and found that they do now set it to NULL
after freeing it. This was part of the following commit:

commit b7ca0eaae6ccd8dca60df3e2ee93220eadd691ee
Author: Hannes Reinecke h...@suse.de
Date: Wed Jan 28 09:24:10 2009 +0100

Plug memory leaks

Running the internal memory checker revealed quite some memory
leaks.

[Bug 824413] Re: Problem during mysql-server-core-5.1 uninstallation

2011-08-18 Thread Dave Walker
This wouldn't seem to be a bug with mysql, rather the packages which
depend on mysql.

akonadi etc need to depend on (for example) mysql-server | percona-
server, which would not remove akonadi if the other depends is
satisfied. Marking Invalid.

Thanks.

[Bug 829089] [NEW] clamd scanning mimedefang temp files blocked by apparmor

2011-08-18 Thread Imre Gergely
Public bug reported:

Testing MIMEDefang with sendmail and clamav-daemon I've found a problem.
It seems that clamav-daemon's apparmor denies read access to
mimedefang's temporary files, as seen in the logs:

This should be fixed in Oneiric before we SRU/backport clamav 0.97.2
back to Natty/Lucid/etc.

[Bug 826828] Re: Clamav microversion update for 0.97 - 0.97.2

2011-08-18 Thread Imre Gergely
Tested clamav 0.97.2 package from -proposed on Natty.

For the most part everything works just fine, except bug #829089 which
is not a show-stopper but could be fixed before this SRU.

For the detailed test results see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/Clamav .

Also backported it to Hardy and using it on my own server for the last
2-3 days, no problems found so far.

happy that this bug report is in place. looking at your link with reporting X

that the missing in you are referring gets described in

hope I will find time to provide this info.

thanx.

[Bug 746892] Re: Keyboard randomly stops working, but autorepeat and mouse work

2011-08-18 Thread Mats Ahlgren
SUCCESSFULLY DIAGNOSED, with WORKAROUND

Many thanks to Thomas Lübking for help diagnosing

This is due to an accessibility feature known as slow keys
*Somehow*, the feature gets randomly activated during normal use of the OS.
The normal user warning for this is a system bell (which may not be heard), so
it's easy to miss; there is no graphical indicator of any sort.
Normally though, this feature should not be activated in the first place.

FIX / WORKAROUND:
- open the System Settings Accessibility (or type kcmshell4 access in a
terminal)
- under [tab]Keyboard Filters you may see Sticky Keys enabled if you are
suffering from this; disable it and hit Apply
- to prevent this from happening again, go to [tab]Activation Gestures,
disable Use gestures to activate..., set the inactivity timeout to the lowest
possible setting (1min), and enable all the notification features

suggested severity: Highest (because it makes people's system unusable
and they have no idea how to fix it)

how this should be fixed:
- source of random activation should be found and fixed
how this can be mitigated:
- kubuntu system settings should be set to those described in FIX to reduce
chances of occurring
- KDE code can be modified to show a prominent accessibility status indicator,
or require typing confirm

This is bug is suspected to be due to an Ubuntu configuration of either
the base system or KDE packages, though I am unsure what might affect
usability settings of all desktops.

(Maybe it's also possible that there exists some activation gesture
which will cause a popup to appear, but the user will hit Enter while
typing?)

go4linux's comment should also be investigated, because it may indicate
this problem is also occurring in other desktop environments; if so that
would help track down the cause of the random activations if it's the
same issue

Yes it did, thank you :) what a silly error on my part xD.

In the updated named.conf, the second to last line does not have a
 closing quote, It is:

 file /etc/bind/db.192;

 but should be

 file /etc/bind/db.192;

Does making that correction solve your problem?

[Bug 819495] Re: [Oneiric] indicator-session states 'updates available...’ which isn't the case

2011-08-18 Thread Taylor
I never use the graphical interfaces for updating; I use the command-
line 'sudo apt-get update' and 'sudo apt-get upgrade'. This never
updates the indicator-session status, so for me it always reads Updates
Available However, if I click that, it pulls up the update manager
and tells me there are no updates, and then finally updates the
indicator.

Definite agree with #2.

Partially unrelated-- should the indicator turn blue, a la the messaging
menu, when there are updates available?

[Bug 485755] Re: openoffice.org-kde : Drag and Drop to not visible Area = Crash

2011-08-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
hefeweiz3n, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping
to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please
follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your
crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
