[Bug 670289] Re: Laptop won't shut down with rabbitmq running
I have the same exact problem. Poweroff just goes back to the login screen with I assume part of the OS services shut down. The only way to cleanly power off is to log in and do sudo /sbin/poweroff now. What is the root cause here? So it sounds like NetworkManager is making changes to /etc/hosts that
are confusing Rabbit. To help figure out if this is the problem, can
anyone experiencing this on 11.10 tell me:
* What does ping ${hostname} look like when networking is up?
* What does ping ${hostname} look like when networking is down?

Hm, I don't agree. I think the problem is in libparted/arch/linux.c init_file(): dev-bios_geom.sectors = 32; vs _device_probe_geometry() which defaults to what the LBA reports or: dev-bios_geom.sectors = 63; So, when vmbuilder uses parted to build the disk, parted treats the disk file differently than it would a real LBA mode drive. The bios geometry just shouldn't matter. Sure, it is odd that it uses a different geometry for an image file than a disk, but whether the nonsensical geometry specifies 63 or 32 or 3 sectors per track, partitions are supposed to have a 1mb alignment these days. nutznboltz, typically we require somebody who wasn't the developer uploading the fix to verify it (Serge did the fix). Thanks for reporting this bug. That certainly could be confusing. However, practically speaking, since qemu was compiled without that support, it becomes more difficult for qemu to tell the difference between a unsupported but otherwise-valid type, and an invalid type. Perhaps upstream would accept a (trivial) patch changing the message to always say expects a valid network client type. In my case, I can connect to my NAS via ssh with a public/private key system and I can mount manually a directory from my NAS. This affects me too, same segmentation fault. If it helps, I've noticed it happens much more often when running on battery power, and it seems to happen more often when actively doing things, like loading several webpages or advancing songs in banshee. I've still had it happen to me when on AC power and when not doing those things, it's just much more common. [Bug 891026] [NEW] PDF printing from Evince through CUPS is very slow, sometimes fails
Public bug reported: When printing a PDF document from Evince using a CUPS defined printer, printing the document takes very long (up to 30 minutes). The ghostscript process runs at 100% CPUTIME. Here is the captures ghostscript command of one of the print test : gs -dFirstPage=1 -q -dBATCH -dPARANOIDSAFER -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=pxlmono -r600x600 -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -sOutputFile=- /var/spool/cups/tmp/foomatic- AA6FvH This is the only evidence that ghostscript is responsible for the problem. Backporting the cups-1.4.5.3 would remove gs out of the equation, hopefully fixing the problem. Reproducible: 100% Workaround: Use the acroread PDF viewer which does not show this problem Request: PDF conversions using ghostscripts have been identified by previous bugs (LP#668800 ) and have been fixed in cups 1.4.5.3 by using poppler instead of ghostscript. You see I can re-produce that bug. Sometimes, I can get my desktop back and use it normally with one log out. Sometimes, I have to log out twice. Today, I logged out 5 times but that did not fix anything so I had to reboot. I had exactly the same issue on Lubuntu 11.04 so hope that will be fixed soon. You should extrude with an angle strictly smaller than Pi.
Otherwise, there is a problem with indetermination.
