[Bug 212370] Re: Have to modprobe coretemp manually in order to get CPU temperatures on MacBook Pro

2011-12-07 Thread Phillip Susi
As Steve said, this isn't an lm-sensors issue, so closing the lm-sensors
task.

Kernel team: would there be any harm in simply building the module into
the kernel always? Virtually all modern intel CPUs use this, and on
CPUs that don't support it, it should have no effect.

[Bug 134274] Re: TCP_DEFER_ACCEPT causes random HTTP connection failures in load-balanced web-server farms

2011-12-07 Thread TJ
Unfortunately upstream cannot agree on what precisely the standards
require in relation to TCP_DEFER_ACCEPT, thus this issue slips through
the cracks and doesn't affect enough installations to create any real
drive.

As can be seem from my investigations it is an obscure bug which is very
hard to catch and probably goes unseen in most circumstances.

My preferred solution would be a prominent addition to the Debian/Ubuntu
READMEs for apache with a reference to this bug with advice to use

AcceptFilter http none

when operating in a load-balancing configuration.

[Bug 899598] Re: [Patch] The resolution of Display Port for intel cards is limited

2011-12-07 Thread Albert Astals Cid
To be honest i went a much cruder way that is just

static int
intel_dp_link_required(struct intel_dp *intel_dp, int pixel_clock)
{
struct drm_crtc *crtc = intel_dp-base.base.crtc;
struct intel_crtc *intel_crtc = to_intel_crtc(crtc);
int bpp = 24;

return (pixel_clock * bpp + 9) / 10;
}

Your patch seems to be better in the sense that it correctly calculates bpp but
compared to what is in upstream it checks for
if (is_edp(intel_dp))
that upstream does not anymore. I have no knowldge of the code at all so can't
comment if it is correct or not. You might want to drop by #intel-gfx in
freenode and talk to them, they were quite responsive when i appeared there
with my issue

I'm using a Dell XPS15 outputting at 1920x1080 (without the patch
resolution is limited at something like 1200xsomething)

[Bug 894671] Re: update-manager freezes after initialization

2011-12-07 Thread syscon-hh
After reading the comments, I can confirm, that the GUI of update-
manager, if using the gnome-shell first, it's working fine.

If starting with ubuntu-desktop the update-manager won't work and
freezes after pushing the button install updates.

Interupting, wait, logout and changing to the gnome-shell - the
update-manager won't work!!

After a shutdown and starting the computer, it will work again with the
gnome-shell only.

The machines testet on are installations before alpha1 as well as
installations with alpha 1.

I hope it will help to find the bug.

[Bug 899511] Re: hard crash on ION2 graphics chipsets

2011-12-07 Thread Teunis Peters
Did not happen with 10.4. System was initially set up with 10.4

Will explore upstream kernels when I've cleared up enough space to build them.
GL applications require ironhide ppa to be installed. Otherwise, any call to
nvidia stack will probably cause lockup.

[Bug 891255] Re: Update impossible with update-manager -- loses connection to daemon

2011-12-07 Thread Michael Vogt
Thanks for your bugreport. This is on ubuntu 11.10, correct?

Could you please check if you have the policykit-1-gnome package
installed? When its missing update-manager can't put up the permission
dialog.

is there anything else unusual about your system. There is one output
releated to network-manager. Do you have this package installed ? And if
so, is it generally working? Anything else that might be unusual about
the system and give us a clue what causes the error?
