[Bug 911155] Re: Etckeeper should not complain about hardlinked files when using bzr VCS

Bazaar can indeed create hardlinks when it creates a checkout (so can
e.g. git) but it doesn't explicitly version the fact that hardlinks
exist somewhere. The warning here is about the latter category.

Nevermind the previous request, I was able to reproduce the bug myself.
As the issue fixed by this patch only happens when --raw is used, the
modification is not restrictive enough and try to remove nonexistent
maps. I'll work on refining the patch.

[Bug 881464] Re: [MIR] keystone

2012-01-03 Thread Chuck Short
I believe I all of these issues have been addressed now:

- passlib MIR - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/passlib/+bug/911287
- python-sqlite has been dropped
- python-coverage has been dropped
- python-memcache MIR -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-memcache/+bug/911295
- I believe the security issues that was rasied by Jamie has been addressed
upstream.
- I have made it easier to enable ssl by default for the user.

[Bug 906735] Re: package installation should create /var/log/puppet

2012-01-03 Thread Adam Gandelman
Hi Kenyon, thanks for reporting. I'm having trouble reproducing your
logrotate errors with puppet 2.7.1-1ubuntu3.2 on oneiric. It appears
the log directory is in fact created by the puppet-common package, on
which both the puppet agent and puppetmaster packages depend on.
Without later manually removing /var/log/puppet, I am unable to
reproduce. I've also confirmed that the corresponding logrotate config
is removed on purge, so it should not be attempting rotation if the
package is no longer installed / log directory removed during purge.

Can you specify with which version of the puppet package you've hit
this?

[Bug 911125] [NEW] FTBFS due to removed g_thread_init

g_thread_init() and friends have been deprecated since glib 2.24 and now
removed in 2.31.x. This causes some packages to FTBFS.

The fix is to replace g_thread_init() with g_type_init().

[Bug 910845] Re: Message Cannot change the priority of process is displayed with a normal user selects a high priority process

2012-01-03 Thread Chris
@Jean-Baptiste
This is a usability issue which doesn't impact functionality.

If it were as simple as that then changing the priority should not in
itself alter the ability to recreate the bug. The fact that after
changing the priority to normal and then back to very high makes the
problem disappear completely seems to indicate that there is something
much deeper going on.

[Bug 911118] Re: installation crashed

2012-01-03 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with the disk to which you are trying to
install Ubuntu. I'd recommend performing a back up of your existing
operating system and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections for your disks and using
software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event
that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's
status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 390508] Re: notifyOSD ignores the expire timeout parameter

2012-01-03 Thread quequotion
I was going to check this bug's ranking by searching launchpad by
number of comments.

Unfortunately that feature of Launchpad is broken!

Is this really something for the Wishlist?

There are already plenty of forum posts and blogs recommending to just
do away with notify-osd because of this and other design decisions
that really don't seem to make much sense or be worth stubbornly
supporting.

[Bug 911093]

2012-01-03 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/911093/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 911064] Re: Apple Bluetooth Keyboard Fn key not working

2012-01-03 Thread Jason
I've tried to follow the instructions above. I suspect the bug is in the
kernel, but when I search for kernel under packages I get an error
saying too many matches. When I refine the search to my specific
kernel i get no packages exist.

Not sure where to go from here. Perhaps the help page
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage) needs updating with more
info re what to do if the bug is in the kernel.

In any case, my kernel is 3.0.0-15-generic-pae

Let me know if any more info is required.

[Bug 407692] Re: Icon for Transmission does not suggest the program's purpose

2012-01-03 Thread Jani Uusitalo
I think it's worse than just that the icon doesn't convey the program's
purpose: it looks way too much like a flatbed scanner. I appreciate the
difficulty in crafting a descriptive visual representation of a BT
client, but IMHO an icon should at least be sufficiently unique so as to
avoid mistaking it for other apps of completely unrelated purposes.
That's where Vuze's frog for example is better (as long as you're not
into Frogger clones). I've been running Transmission whenever I'm logged
in for years now, and I still occasionally wonder why I have a scanning
app running, when in fact it's just Transmission's... I'm-not-sure-what-
it-is.

I realize this is not a very constructive argument so long as I don't
have anything better to suggest in the current icon's place, but I
promise I'll start thinking of one right now and hopefully come up with
ideas some day.

[Bug 888495] Re: Can't compile C++ code: undefined reference to:

2012-01-03 Thread conrad_s
There is no associated build log, as prior to version 2.4.x, Armadillo
was a pure C++ template library. The examples provided in the archive
are not built by default, hence it is impossible to detect the problem
at build time.

In versions prior to 2.4.x, Armadillo relied on a linking trick that no
longer works due to the toolchain update. In version 2.4.x, this trick
is no longer used.

The associated Armadillo packages in Debian have been fixed and are in
the testing stream.

Specifically, the fix is in:
libarmadillo-dev (1:2.4.2+dfsg-2)
and
libarmadillo2 (1:2.4.2+dfsg-2)

http://packages.debian.org/testing/libarmadillo-dev
http://packages.debian.org/testing/libarmadillo2

As such, the armadillo package can now be updated in Ubuntu.

[Bug 905622] Re: Mobile broadband fails after dropout

2012-01-03 Thread Russell Faull
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected oneiric running-unity

** Description changed:

My Huawei E1762 modem is the only method I use to connect to the
internet. If a dropout occurs (sometime frequently in my location), the
modem is no longer recognised by network-manager and I can't reconnect.

I have tried sudo restart network-manager and sudo restart modemmanager,
this works sometimes after several minutes, but is so inconsistent, it's
quicker to simply reboot to get a connect to the web. I have also tried
physically pulling the usb modem and reinserting with a combination of
the above commands -- nothing seems to work consistently in 11.10.

In 11.04, I could run sudo killall modem-manager from a remote desktop
and get my network going again.

- I'm not sure what logs would help debug this. Advice would be
- appreciated, please.
