Re: [Bug 919068] Re: bridge_ports all doesn't work at boot time
I did remove completely resolvconf, including the configuration files and the problem persists. [Bug 919570] [NEW] Appearance of maximized windows makes menubar ownership amiguous
Public bug reported: Currently (with Unity 5.0 on Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha), maximizing a window leads to the window being visually merged with the top bar. This makes sense as long as the maximized window is focused, as the title and menus shown in the top bar are the ones belonging to the window. However, focusing an unmaximized window while having a maximized window open leads to the unfortunate situation that the top bar shows the title/menubar of the unmaximized window, while the visuals suggest that they actually belong to the maximized one. (The attached image shows the problem.) Thus, it would be good if an unmaximized window and the top bar only appeared as a single visual unit while the window is focused, and less connected if not, to make window title / menubar ownership clear and less confusing. ** Affects: hundredpapercuts Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: unity Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/919570 Title: Appearance of maximized windows makes menubar ownership amiguous To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/919570/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

After all this trouble of not being able to shutdown from the GUI, I discovered in Ubuntu 11.10, Gnome, the shutdown features were intact! They weren't missing, right from the start! I verified that in KDE which I installed a while ago. In Gnome, the gear on the top right, next to the user name was missing! In the root desktop, the gear containing the shutdown function was next to root! That worked fine also! In order to shut down I had to put the mouse-pointer into the top right corner and the drop-down menu with Shutdown included amongst other choices were all displayed! I'd click on shutdown and another window popped up. Shutdown and restart were options. Worked nicely. [Bug 883912] Re: Please compile bluez with Wiimote support
For oneiric there is a discrepancy with the changelog: bluez (4.96-1) unstable; urgency=low [...] - Add new plugins (proximity, sap, wiimote, thermometer, dbusoob). [...] That should be fixed (removing the wiimote feature from the changelog or recompiling with --enable-wiimote) for Oneiric. (I'm using 3.2 from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ but I know that I'm not the common case) IMHO this should be fixed absolutely for precise (that has 3.2 kernel) and for the Ubuntu TV (wiimote working out-of-the-box would be a nice feature). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883912 Title: Please compile bluez with Wiimote support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/883912/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 857153]
For distributions based on GNOME 3.4, I don't think there is really a good workaround. For distributions based on GNOME 3.2, this shouldn't be a problem because there is a GSettings - GConf bridge which works fine (well, it works fine in Ubuntu at the moment. I'm not sure about other distros). However, this got dropped for GNOME 3.4 here: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-settings- daemon/commit/?id=f4ef02038a1f57edf7a23ba91829f15cddfc7eff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/857153 Title: Needs to get accessibility settings from GSettings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/857153/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 919579] [NEW] iwlagn performance with Wireless-N 1030
Public bug reported: I have Dell XPS17 laptop with Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 1030 (rev 34) controller and have had problems with the wireless connection since day 1 with 11.10. After a clean 11.10 install the performance of the wireless connection would degrade to unusable levels fairly quickly. Symptoms where slow b/g transfer rates, even though iwconfig would show N connection speeds, and high latencies causing problems with DNS lookups. Google told me to try to disable N by loading the module with 11n_disable=1 and/or try the latest firmware. I tried both. The new firmware didn't help at all. Disabling N speeds helped but I was still plagued by latencies sometimes going up into 200ms+ range making the network sluggish. Reloading the iwlagn module would restore the connection temporarily. [ The firmware version I currently have installed is from [ http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/iwlwifi/downloads/iwlwifi-6000g2b-ucode-17.168.5.2.tgz [ Which contains version 17.168.5.2 build 35905. [ The one in the current linux-firmware is 17.168.5.1 build 33993. Today I decided to try the latest proposed kernel hoping the iwlagn changes it contains would fix the problem. Unfortunately not. The transfer rate still drops to b/g speeds quickly during the first large network transfer after reboot or iwlagn reload. The only improvement is that even though the transfer rate drops, the latency remains good. I can reproduce the problem - i.e. trigger the degradation to b/g speeds - reliably just by performing a scp of a file from my home server/router to the laptop. I've ruled out problems on the server-side or other network elements by performing the same transfer and other tests with other wireless devices on the same network. I can clearly see it happening by running a ping to the server while running the scp. Below is what I observe. I start pinging my home router/server/etc (linux box). [Bug 505188]
Created attachment 55747 Test .ppt and mangled result 1. mangle.ppt is the original drawing created in PPT 2003 2. open mangle.ppt in LOImpress 3.5.0b2 3. add one word to the slide, outside the diagram 4. save as mangle2.ppt 5. exit LOImpress 6. Open mangle2.ppt in LOImpress or PPT 2003 Result: some of the text which was originally horizontal has rotated to vertical. 3.4.4 release does exactly the same thing. I just went through a .ppt file I had been using to import .pdf (as a way of converting SVG drawings) which had been repeatedly opened in LOImpress 3.4.4. There were numerous examples of mangled diagrams, mostly text originally rotated by 90 degrees now at -90 degrees, and a few cases where the rotation was completely lost (not shown). Some of them were really awful, with text drawn mirrored, possibly the result of multiple cycles of .ppt open/save in LOImpress. (I have not yet reproduced that problem.) Conclusion: it is unsafe to open a .ppt drawing in LOImpress and save it again in that same format. The only safe way to convert (from PDF) through LO is to create a fresh .ppt for each diagram imported and then later move the contents of that .ppt into the main .ppt within Microsoft PowerPoint. The easy method, doing that conversion in the complete .ppt opened in LOImpress, results in earlier slides being mangled by later .ppt saves. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/505188 Title: [Upstream] Impress mis-rotates text saving to .pptx To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/505188/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 505188]
Created attachment 55744 Screen shot, only example at 90 degrees is incorrect. Two more observations. 1. With LOImpress 3.5.0b2 made an odp with text at 89,90, and 91 degrees. Saved as .ppt Opened in PowerPoint 2003. Result: Only the text at 90 degrees is flipped, +/- one degree away is good enough to avoid the problem. (See the screen snap). Previous result showed that +/- 45 degrees also not a problem. Suggests that problem is most likely restricted to multiples of 90 degrees. 2.
