[Bug 929552] Re: package resolvconf 1.63ubuntu7 failed to install/upgrade: Unterprozess installiertes post-installation-Skript gab den Fehlerwert 1 zurück
The following is a copy of Sebastian Unger (sebunger44)'s comment (#7) from #922491 which I think is another report arising from this (#929552) issue. --- I'm not sure whether this is related to this or not. I was about to raise a bug for it, but thought I'd comment here in case it is related to something someone did recently in regards to this bug. Here's my scenario: I'm using oneiric-mini.iso to install from a local ubuntu mirror (more like a cache) that is constructed using reprepro. In essence it's a mirror of only the important bits of oneiric to set up an ubuntu- standard server + resolvconf from precise since the one in oneiric is totally broken. Until very recently (1.63ubuntu3) this installed just fine (using DHCP for the single interface and getting the DNS info from that). Now I've just updated my mirror to the latest packages which pulled in resolvconf 1.63ubuntu6 from precise and now this no longer installs properly. In particular /etc/resolv.conf is still a file and not a sym- link after a clean expert install. If I subsequently try to fix thinks by running dpkg-reconfigure resolvconf, it goes through a couple questions (Yes, I want to prepare /etc/resolv.conf and no I don't want to append the original contents) it fails saying (in effect) that /run/resolvconf does not exist. If I create /run/resolvconf and /run/resolvconf/interface manually and then run through dpkg-reconfigure it appears to start coming right. I don't have the means to try this on a plain precise install at the moment. Anybody any comments? [Bug 877438] Re: Unity/compiz has sluggish performance on dual-head with nvidia driver
I have had this issue for 1-1.5 year despite of my and other bug reports. It was a pain to use Unity with compiz or compiz alone. Had to use 2d or nouveau drivers. Nouveau got new issues in 11.10 so it become even harder. Certainly some bug exists in the proprietary drives. NVIDIA doesn't care of the old cards I am afraid they won't investigate this issue. But I have solved all problems recently. Pulled out that bastard(8400m GS) and replaced it with hd 3650 Really any problem now. I am serious. hd 3650 is free from theses bugs for me. Thanks to ATI. [Bug 854814] Re: cd drive lock does not work after oneiric upgrade
In my case, I experience the opposite of the problem described. I cannot eject my optical disk as it it always locked, despite my configuration value: dev.cdrom.lock = 0 Every time I insert a disk, the drive is locked. When I issue the command $ eject -i off which is essentially a $ ioctl(fd, CDROM_LOCKDOOR, 0) then the eject button works fine again. So, it seems that the configuration value in dev.cdrom.lock is not reprected anymore and thus the drive locking is setting (another) default value? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/854814 Title: cd drive lock does not work after oneiric upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/854814/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 931963] [NEW] File upload dialog does not fit netbook screen when Unity's Accessibility font size is set to Large
Public bug reported: See attached screenshots. The first screenshot is a full-screen grab of an eeePC netbook running Firefox when I pressed Upload a file in this bug tracker and typed scr (the first three letters of a file I have called screenshot). As you can see the relevant part of the dialog is off-screen. However this can be worked around by zooming the dialog window (dragging its titlebar to the top of the screen) as shown in the second screenshot. Perhaps the dialog should be zoomed by default in these circumstances? or ideally the layout code could be adapted so that it copes with reduced screen space? I'm not sure if this should be reported against Firefox or against a library that it uses to display the dialog. Could somebody please reassign this to the correct package if it's not Firefox? [Bug 931976] [NEW] run in xpdfrc parsed incorrectly making arguments impossible
Public bug reported: The following line in ~/.xpdfrc makes xpdf run ls (with the output in the console that xpdf was launched from): bind b any run(ls) This seems to be the correct behaviour. However, the following lines in ~/.xpdfrc don't work: bind c any run(ls -l) bind d any run(ls %f) For example, when I press c, xpdf says Error: Invalid command syntax: 'run(ls' Error: Invalid command syntax: '-l)' Based on my reading of the man page for xpdf, I believe this is a bug: xpdf should run ls -l when c is pressed, and run ls %f where %f is replaced with the currently loaded pdf filename when d is pressed. This is annoying, because I'd like to pass the currently loaded pdf filename as an argument to a script, and I can't see how to do this because of this bug. Adding quotation marks and/or trying to backslash-escape the space between ls and -l doesn't seem to help. Version information: $ apt-cache policy xpdf xpdf: Installed: 3.02-21 Candidate: 3.02-21 Version table: *** 3.02-21 0 500 http://ie.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Complete ~/.xpdfrc: $ cat .xpdfrc bind b any run(ls) bind c any run(ls -l) bind d any run(ls %f) ** Affects: xpdf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/931976 Title: run in xpdfrc parsed incorrectly making arguments impossible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xpdf/+bug/931976/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 930106] Re: Software Updater Fails to download a package
I did download those firefox files via my browser but, I can't get Ubuntu's Software Manager nor its Update Manager to take them. With Mandriva Linux, its RPM Manager does effortlessly take any such update files downloaded from the web. I have learned to rely on or to just use RPM only to do such things. Installing software on my own without RPM doesn't work. I bet its the same with Ubuntu also where I must use its software installing system as evidenced by the db triggers being processed. As such, opening the file firefox-mozilla-build_10.0-0ubuntu1_i386.deb (which I downloaded) with Software Manager does not work. It just hangs with the processing animation, for hours. Update Manager has no way to read from a downloaded file but just archive mirror sites of which I tried specifying that http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/ubuntuzilla/mozilla/apt/pool/main/f /firefox-mozilla-build/firefox-mozilla- build_10.0-0ubuntu1_i386.deb?r=ts=1329168082use_mirror=superb-sea2 site as an APT Deb site but, it won't accept it as such (OK set to sensitive) or it tries to process it but, gets the same internet connectivity error. So, this update is unprocessable now. Unless theres a way to get the software management of Ubuntu to use it. I have noticed here that I can issue sudo get-apt package names, on Ubuntu. Is there a package name for this update that I can use with sudo? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/930106 Title: Software Updater Fails to download a package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/930106/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
