[Bug 856711] Re: 11.10 - Suspend fails on Asus 1215B
The final addition to /etc/pm/config.d/modules adds: SLEEP_MODULE="uswsusp" S2RAM_OPTS="-f -a 2" SUSPEND_MODULES="button uhci_hcd" I'm thinking having the most recent kernel you can find could help as the -a parameter makes use of kernel features. I'm using 3.6.1 as in http://mib.pianetali.../kernels/3.1.6/ and the latest ATI driver http://www2.ati.com/...-x86.x86_64.run Seems pretty solid now even with lid close for suspend. You may have to check with the Ubuntu community for the integration of pm-utils and s2ram. It seems acpid and pm-utils also manage the lid close and special keys part. [Bug 960630] [NEW] Cannot burn Ubuntu Installation CD
Public bug reported: System Information - * Ubuntu 11.10 machine (32-bit) * Brasero 3.2.0-0ubuntu1.1 Description -- I wanted to create an Ubuntu installation CD. I downloaded the Ubuntu 11.10 ISO file but Brasero could not burn it to a blank CD because it thinks the file is too big (download size is 695 MB, my file manager Nautilus 3.2.1 reports it as 729.1 MB). K3b is able to burn the disc so I know it is a Brasero issue. Steps to Recreate Issue -- * Download the Ubuntu 11.10 ISO from http://www.ubuntu.com/start-download?distro=desktop&bits=32&release=latest - The download manager in Firefox says the download is 695 MB - The downloaded file shows as 729.1 MB in Nautilus * Insert a blank 700 MB CD into the CD-write drive * Right click on the downloaded file and select Write to Disc... * A Brasero window pops up and says that the file is too big to write on the disc even with overburn * Close the Brasero window and attempt to write the file using K3b. K3b reports the file as 695 MB and writes it to the CD. Problem: Brasero is the default disc-writing software that comes with Ubuntu and one would expect it to be able to create an Ubuntu installation disc without issues. ** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/960630 Title: Cannot burn Ubuntu Installation CD To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/960630/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 734628] [NEW] Feeds blocked on Facebook showing in Gwibber
You have been subscribed to a public bug: There are a fair number of people I'm connected to in Facebook whose feeds I have indicated I don't want to see. That works in Facebook's web UI, but Gwibber is still presenting the posts from such people. It's a bit annoying. I'd like to avoid unfriending these people (they _are_ in my network) but unfortunately without doing so really drops the signal to noise ratio of the stream presented by Gwibber. I'd have to guess you are constrained by the API presented by Facebook, but if there's any way to query whether the user has actually requested certain posts (or more to the point, all posts by a given user) be omitted then it'd be terrific to use that information to not present those posts in Gwibber. You have been subscribed to a public bug: Using Gwibber 2.0.0 on Ubuntu 9.10 1. Invoked Gwibber. 2. Created a new twitter account (using the short username and password) called lramesh. 3. On the left side panel, choose lramesh and nothing happens. I mean, there were some errors made like no autherization on the previous attempts, but they no longer appear, I don't have an option to autherize and I don't see any error too. How do I authorize Gwibber to access twitter? In the related bugs, I saw 2.3.0 version. Where can I get it from? [Bug 959037] Re: Don't start local resolver if a DNS server is installed
If you're installing dnsmasq on top of the standard desktop install, why is it such an issue to edit the NetworkManager configuration to cater it to your needs? Wouldn't it make sense it this case to go further steps and make sure the network connection is setup in /etc/network/interfaces rather than NM, to ensure you don't suddenly get a different IP address from DHCP? I don't think adding complexity by creating new virtual packages for configurations is a sensible thing to do; and setting up a special upstart job to spawn a local resolver won't work (NM spawns it itself, using a custom configuration on purpose). Since NM relies on dnsmasq-base for the standalone binary rather than the 'dnsmasq' package itself; I guess a workable solution would be to check for /etc/default/dnsmasq and not spawn dnsmasq if the value of ENABLED is 1. Working on top of that for later releases we might then be able to try speaking to a running instance via DBus in such cases to pass server changes to it. Setting to Triaged; we've got a way to possibly deal with this use case... ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Low => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/959037 Title: Don't start local resolver if a DNS server is installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/959037/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 952556] Re: [Precise] [Hardware-killer] HD restarts every few seconds
Hi Steve, I'll try and give it a shot (not tonight) ; however, in 15+ years of intensive daily Linux use, I am yet to see any Linux machine (in use) that can keep its disk spinned down for more than a minute, unless using the laptop-mode tools and appropriate FS and write-cache settings, which are not so easy to finely tune, and very specific to some netbook uses. That's probably why "128" was the default value so far. I strongly believe that allowing disk spindown will never result in actual energy savings, *but* it may and will result in a much shortened HD life. One who wants max energy savings has better go for "suspend" mode after a short inactivity period (let's says 5 or 10 minutes) rather than playing with HD spindown. it's a nonsense for any modern multitasking OS with crons and other tasks schedulers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/952556 Title: [Precise] [Hardware-killer] HD restarts every few seconds To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hdparm/+bug/952556/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 291760] Re: network-manager roams to (none) ((none)) - background scanning
Please, if you're still seeing this issue, seeing as this bug was closed as Fix Released (and there *has* been changes at the NM level to handle this better); please file a new separate bug report for your particular issue. Please keep in mind that the fewer "workarounds" applied here actually help a lot with the testing and debugging; otherwise we may end up debugging bad configuration. The most useful thing to do here is to try this for your own system on a clean install of the current development release - Precise Pangolin, and to file a bug report for the issues you're seeing. There *is not* anything else to be done at the NetworkManager level to support these broken drivers; the issues are at the kernel driver level. As it was mentioned in the upstream kernel bug report, the situation will have greatly improved in kernel 2.6.35 and higher (so at least Maverick); and the same has been observed using the NM trunk PPA (note that these versions do end up in newer releases, that's why testing with Precise Pangolin is useful). As far as I can see all the remaining comments mention the WL driver; which can easily be buggy (and unfortunately, is outside of our control). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291760 Title: network-manager roams to (none) ((none)) - background scanning To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/291760/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 960598] [NEW] utouch-grail aborts when there are multiple accepted atomic gestures
Public bug reported: 1) activate the following subscriptions: - an atomic 3-touches' Drag - an atomic 3-touches' Touch 2) perform a 3-finger's drag on a touchpad or touchscreen and while the 3 fingers are still on the touchpad/screen lay down a fourth finger. both subscriptions will have their corresponding gestures accepted. When processing the event that carries the fourth, an assertion failure will abort the program (because it found 2 accepted atomic gestures). ** Affects: utouch-grail Importance: Medium Assignee: Daniel d'Andrada (dandrader) Status: In Progress ** Affects: utouch-grail (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: utouch-grail Assignee: (unassigned) => Daniel d'Andrada (dandrader) ** Changed in: utouch-grail Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Also affects: utouch-grail (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: utouch-grail Status: New => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/960598 Title: utouch-grail aborts when there are multiple accepted atomic gestures To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/utouch-grail/+bug/960598/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 412845] Re: gvfsd-trash crashed with SIGSEGV in async_ready_callback_wrapper()
This just happened to me in 12.04 Precise. I accidently click on move to trash in Rhythmbox so I right clicked on the trash can on the Unity sidebar and it gave me this exact error. On a side note I never emptied the trash but when I went into Nautilus immediatly after I right clicked on the file and then clicked on restore it said the file did not exist. I assume that has something to do with a cache write being out of sync because not more than 1 min later the file was able to be restored properly Linux rain 3.2.0-19-generic-pae #30-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 16 18:34:15 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/412845 Title: gvfsd-trash crashed with SIGSEGV in async_ready_callback_wrapper() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/412845/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
