[Bug 626080] Re: yama.py crashed with DBusException in call_blocking()

2012-04-18 Thread René van Buuren
fltorres180466yanes, I have the exact same problems as you (running a
fully updated 12.04 installation). The shutdown problems are especially
worrying.

Google translation of fltorres180466yanes' posts for others who don't
speak Spanish:

-
Often applications are closed when running, the instability of these is almost
permanent. Also I have problems shutting down the computer from time to time:
it remains on the screen, and will not let me off the computer, unless you
reset.
-
The applet window Yama Awn launcher fails again and again in the same, and even
crashes shortly after startup.

[Bug 985334] [NEW] Cannot Open With > Others

2012-04-18 Thread Jo-Erlend Schinstad
Public bug reported:

I just branched the ubuntu developer site project to see if I could
improve it. Wanting to have a look at one of the php files, I clicked it
in Firefox, it asked me if I wanted to save or open it in GEdit. I
didn't want to use GEdit, so I chose to Open With > Others. But that
presents me with a File Chooser. I can't select an application from
that.

I attached a video of it to illustrate.

[Bug 985323] Re: package linux-image-3.2.0-23-generic 3.2.0-23.36 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2012-04-18 Thread Brad Figg
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during
any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all.
Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request
further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel
than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test
again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still
exists or not.

You can update to the latest development kernel by simply running the
following commands in a terminal window:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to
Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from
Incomplete to Fix Released.

If you want this bot to quit automatically requesting kernel tests, add
a tag named: bot-stop-nagging.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

[Bug 985328] [NEW] Touchpad scrolling stops working on gtk3 apps after scrolling off-limits

2012-04-18 Thread Nicolás Abel Carbone
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

- Open nautilus
- Scroll with the touchpad up and down using kinectic scrolling. Keep scrolling
even if it reaches the top of the list.

Eventually the scroll with the touchpad will stop working. Scrolling
with an external mouse works fine.

[Bug 985326] [NEW] Pen-in on non-core tablet -> Xorg segfault

2012-04-18 Thread Ben A
Public bug reported:

Trying to troubleshoot a problem with Inkscape, I added Option
"SendCoreEvents" "false" to my xorg.conf and logged out and back in.
When I moved the pen in range of the screen to test to make sure the
InputClass was taking, X promptly crashed. And then would crash
immediately on trying to restart it. I had to reboot to get X back, and
found that putting the pen anywhere near the screen would cause the
crash and force me to reboot again.

[Bug 841259] Re: Crashes with "invalid opcode: 0000"

2012-04-18 Thread openhacker
I had the same problem -- virtualbox kept crashing "soon" -- (NOHZ=off
seemed to help some, but I'm not sure if its real or anecdotal). I was
running ubuntu 11.10 oneiric.

I updated to:
   3.0.0-17
   vbox 4.1.2

and it happens less often (I can get some work done) -- but still
happens occassionally.

I left a virtual machine running for the last day just idle (running
fedora 14) and it crashed again

This sequence seems to happen all the time

Inotify is not defined to return "a subset of changes". It's defined to

[Bug 908203] Re: GRUB2 fails to install on Lenovo IdeaPad V570-1066AJU

2012-04-18 Thread Cory Flick
Same laptop. Ubuntu 11.10 and 12.04 beta both will go through their
installation routines from desktop livecds just fine, then fail to boot
at all from the hard drive.

Linux Mint 12 will install just fine from its livecd, then the
installation will boot just fine from the hard drive upon reboot (
everything works as expected ).

There is something weird about this Lenovo model's bios and hard disk
related to GPT partition table vs ms-dos partition table, and it makes
life difficult for the Ubuntu installer to correctly figure out whether
to install grub-pc, grub2, or grub-efi, IF anecdotal Googling about this
issue is to be believed.

IIRC, the Mint installer is just a tweaked version of Ubuntu's. I have
to believe that if the Mint folks can hit on the right secret sauce, so
to speak, so can the parent distro.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

Recently, there was more of a user's blog emesene with the same problem,
and install python-indicate, solved the problem:

If you know another way to fix this problem, i think emesene developers
are receptive.

Thanks

Armin, could you try booting with the option
'plymouth:debug=file:/var/log/plymouth-debug.log' added to the kernel
command line, then attach any resulting /var/log/plymouth-debug.log file
here?

[Bug 838792] Re: "Restart" logs out, even when there are no other people logged in

2012-04-18 Thread James Kearney
I am encountering this bug on Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) and would love to
help diagnose/fix this issue. I'm not well versed in the parts of the
system that are invoked when the "shutdown" button is selected, but can
offer the following data points about my configuration:

* Running under VMWare Player 4.0.2 build 591240
* did not experience the issue after initial install and subsequent updates
* began experiencing the issue after installing Chef and its dependencies (via
instructions at
http://wiki.opscode.com/display/chef/Installing+Chef+Server+on+Debian+or+Ubuntu+using+Packages)
* noted that RabbitMQ is a key Chef dependency, and highlighted in other
comments, so may be suspect
* wondered if it may be Lightdm/session related and affected by
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi-support/+bug/933626 or similar

This seems like a fairly big haystack to me, but happy to post any
debugging output that might be valuable.

[Bug 985309] [NEW] [omap4] /etc/fstab still has warning "UNCONFIGURED FSTAB FOR BASE SYSTEM", and is inconsistent with options

2012-04-18 Thread Michael Casadevall
Public bug reported:

After installation on omap4, /etc/fstab has a warning that it is still
unconfigured even though the system is infact configured. In addition,
the options are set considerably different that they are compared to
netboot installation.

Preinstalled fstab:

# UNCONFIGURED FSTAB FOR BASE SYSTEM
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
UUID=6fcaf36f-a4fd-447b-a0fa-c04d83700e5c / ext4
defaults,noatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1
/SWAP.swap none swap sw 0 0

fstab on a netboot installed image:

ubuntu@panda6:~$ cat /etc/fstab
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
#
proc/proc procnodev,noexec,nosuid 0 0
# / was on /dev/sda1 during installation
UUID=8c563f8f-b981-4b91-8189-a51483f3f66b /   ext4

[Bug 984404] Re: e1000e driver failed with error -3

2012-04-18 Thread P. S.
Ok, after two years there is a BIOS update with small changes. But they
don't refer to interrupt settings. Will try it later this week.

BTW, I just tried Knoppix v7 with Kernel 3.2.4 and e1000e driver version
1.5.1-k. This does not show the issue. It seems newer driver versions
have a solution built-in. Maybe 10.04 deserves a back-port of that fix,
because other systems seem to suffer from the same issue. There are
similar bug reports related to e1000e failures.

comments on the bug, and they are not failing. That said, the original
problem with the ucdavis server does not happen anymore for me on Ubuntu
12.04. I think the real problem was PHP not handling the error at all.

[Bug 813139] Re: indicator-session-service crashed with signal 5 in g_type_create_instance()

2012-04-18 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Some of the duplicate bugs were filed on Precise, and had the same
backtrace. So I'm marking this Confirmed since the problem still
seemingly exists with the latest versions of indicator-session.

[Bug 908691] Re: Keyboard events fail to register after resuming from suspend (Dell Vostro V13)

2012-04-18 Thread Ronan Jouchet
Actually, regarding question 1. of my previous message, after testing I
confirm the problem happens also when suspending through sudo pm-suspend
with the no_console_suspend boot parameter.

The #Debugging_Suspend section is quite big, if you need more, please
tell what you need me to do.

[Bug 976942] Re: AppIndicator3 does not honor hidden menus

2012-04-18 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Based on my testing, this isn't the case. If I don't run show on the
menuitem, it doesn't happen. Can you give a simple Python test script to
demonstrate this issue?

[Bug 974165] Re: logprof/genprof skip logmessages concerning unlink

2012-04-18 Thread Steve Beattie
Hi, I can reproduce this in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (lucid) but not 12.04
(precise); can people confirm that's where they're seeing this issue?

If it's only occurring on ubuntu 10.04, then I think we need to SRU the
complete bugfix for bug 623467 as only a partial fix went in in the
version 2.5.1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1.
