[Bug 937040] Re: Duplicate ufw rules installed by dovecot packages
I am seeing this here as well. After seeing the comment by Serge above, I took a look at this. Here is what I did, and I propose that anyone who is experiencing this problem should probably do the same: rm /etc/ufw/applications.d/dovecot-common The reason is that you already have these rules in the dovecot-core file, so you are simply eliminating the old duplicate by doing this. I suspect that in my case this arose because the machine in question was upgraded from a Lucid installation to Precise, so would have had an older package in place from before. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dovecot in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/937040 Title: Duplicate ufw rules installed by dovecot packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dovecot/+bug/937040/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 989984] Re: Lookup for 101/8 reports Please upgrade this program.
Excerpts from Kasper Dupont's message of Sat Apr 28 08:14:44 UTC 2012: I'm still a bit new to Ubuntu. I'm more experienced with rpm based systems. I haven't figured out the exact steps I need to do in order to build a patched version of an ubuntu package, but if you could point me at instructions that shows me how to build and install a modified deb package, I'll have a patch ready for you in no time. Certainly! http://developer.ubuntu.com/packaging/html/ https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates In this case, I think we'd want to just *backport* the precise upstream version completely, since almost all changes should have been to add new mappings of networks and tlds, or fix major bugs. Please verify that in the upstream changelog before submitting that as a fix though. If that is the case, I think we can waive the usual no new upstream rule for stable release updates. [Bug 978356] Re: squid3 gets killed at startup with dnsmasq and no networkmanager
Have the same behaviour on a x86_64 server freshly-upgraded from Oneiric to Precise. On system reboot, squid3 does not start properly - gets killed by HUP signal as recorded in syslog. Logging into the system by ssh and manual starting service squid3 helps to resolve the problem. But having squid3 starting normally on bootup would be very beneficial. I strongly suspect this misbehaviour happens due to incomplete integration of upstart, ifupdown and resolvconf packages functionality. I use system without NetworkManager (it's a server after all), my interfaces are controlled by ifupdown and by ppp scripts. Probably upstart starts ifupdown too early, again as it usually happens when you have resolvsconf in universe instead of main. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to squid3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/978356 Title: squid3 gets killed at startup with dnsmasq and no networkmanager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/978356/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 975321] Re: maas-dhcp ignores input
Hi Erwin, After running dpkg-reconfigure maas-dhcp you need to run maas-import- isos to update all the necessary files. Doing so will *automatically* generate /etc/dnsmasq.conf so you do *not* need to move files anywhere. The reason why it is failing is because you are copying the template file, which is a template and does not contain the correct files. Hope this information helps! [Bug 987304] Re: [regression] [precise] 3D apps run much slower under Unity
I have the same issue I think. Any animation in Compiz, when using the nvidia driver and not nouveau and having the unity plugin active, is a series of smooth jerky movements. That is, the movement is very smooth, but it stops randomly. It is most pronounced with scale and wall, and not at all noticeable with wobbly unless the cursor is along a screen edge and the maximise grid is shown. If I disable the unity plugin, every animation immediately becomes very smooth---in fact as smooth as in the old days of Gnome 2+Compiz. If I uninstall the nvidia driver and use nouveau instead, the jerkiness disappears, but the smoothness as well. Also, the dash becomes close to unusable since it takes about a second for a letter to appear after I have typed it. [Bug 990695] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon leaks memory / 100+ percent cpu
Public bug reported: gnome-settings-daemon leaks memory ( adds about 1 MB per minute ) Observed process use 100% + CPU utilization on one core for more than 30 minutes. Memory grew from about 200 MB to 390 MB during this 30 minute period. Process status was reported as Sleeping/futex_wait_queme_me. However, as soon as I typed 'ubuntu-bug' in the terminal it switched to Running ~ and then dropped its CPU usage to 60% and gave back 100MB of memory. Then while typing this comment here it went back up to 102% and started consuming memory again. [Bug 922976] Re: Kernel Oops - BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 850f08bc; EIP is at kmem_cache_alloc+0x50/0x100
Christopher, for the last few months I've been testing a whole range of kernel versions of 2012-2011. The last one was 3.4.0-rc1. The pm-hibernate bug was present in ALL of those. Why to expect a fix in that last one? I don't see a single pm commit there. Branches 3.2 break the sound input for me as well. Now I am running 2.6.38-14-generic #58-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 27 without a single hibernate. It is as solid as rock. That is why, the bug is in the pm-hibernate module, possibly somewhere in the way the memory is dumped on the disk. I've got across a few such old pm-hibernate regression bugs from the git logs. The question is to identify the piece of code in pm-hibernate module that causes it. One interesting fact is that in all of the kernel oopses I got there was last sysfs file: /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:14.4/:09:04.0/net/wlan0/statistics/collisions At the same time I can see that when I don't suspend machine to disk and it is stable, nm-applet process is constantly leaking memory getting up to 300 megs when I restart it. Perhaps it is not a mere coincidence. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/922976 Title: Kernel Oops - BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at 850f08bc; EIP is at kmem_cache_alloc+0x50/0x100 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/922976/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 990699] [NEW] Gwget reports huge remaining time and larger current size
Public bug reported: I expected that - Gwget would cease downloading once the full file had been downloaded - Gwget would create a new download file if a file with the same name already existed Gwget kept downloading after it had reported 100% completion: - reporting a current size in excess of the total size - the percentage returned to 0 % - the remaining time suddenly increased to a huge number, e.g. 1193046 I'm not sure but this may have been caused by changing the mirror for the file being downloaded. I paused GWget and established a new download session and once the new session was in progress with the new mirror for the same file deleted the old session. Gwget did not create a new file but used the partially downloaded file and the percentage appeared to continue on OK from the 5MB already downloaded using the first mirror..
