[Bug 994533] Re: cannot install ia32-libs on Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64
But how was this inconsistancy possible? Any idea, what I did wrong? I don't think this is due to anything you did wrong; most likely, there was simply a single-bit memory or disk error that broke the checksum of your conffile. Could I found this solution by myself? Not easily, and for that I reassign the bug to dpkg rather than just closing it outright. [Bug 995364] [NEW] Language switching unavailable in official web help for 11.10 and 12.04 desktops
Public bug reported: I discovered that https://help.ubuntu.com/11.10/ubuntu-help/ and https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/ubuntu-help/ site directories are available in several different languages, but there is no way to switch between them from the site itself. Currently, to access them, you need to manipulate Accept-Language request header in your browser. In Firefox, it can be done (1) by editing intl.accept_languages preference at about:config page, (2) in Preferences-Content-Languages window or (3) by using an extension like Quick Locale Switcher. I think it's better practice for multi-language site to provide some control to select the language. It will make difference when a user is not sure he/she understands a sentence in his/her current language correctly and wants to consult the same page in another, or suspects a translation mistake. It will make checking translations for mistakes on- line faster and easier. ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995364 Title: Language switching unavailable in official web help for 11.10 and 12.04 desktops To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/995364/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 995366] [NEW] Local Port 0 causes trouble with firewalls
Public bug reported: When fixing #513166, it was introduced that the Local Port 0 option is always sent to vpnc. This however causes problems as some access point do not accept traffic other than from the default port 500. There is no possibility in networkmanager to change this behaviour. Since there seems to be a need for bothe, the default port 500 and random port selection as demanded in #513166, this should be made into a GUI option. [Bug 995372] [NEW] switching external monitors impossible
Public bug reported: after upgrading to 12.04 I've encountered the following problem with gnome3 desktop: I have 2 screens for my laptop (dell xps502z), one at home and one at work. they have different resolutions, and both connected via the mini- displayPort socket (the hdmi socket on this dell doesn't work due to Nvidia Optimus crap). When moving from one monitor to the other, the monitor doesn't get a signal. Opening the display manager shows the screen blackened, and trying to enable it brings about the following error: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: No such interface `org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.XRANDR_2' on object at path /org/gnome/SettingsDaemon/XRANDR restarting X11 solves this, but of course means I have to exit any open window, and reconfigure my dual monitor layout each time. this was 100% fine in 11.10. this happens when moving from either screen to the other. [Bug 995293] Re: Gtk3 applications look awful under Xfce
xfce themes can support gtk2 and gtk3 (look in /usr/share/themes to see if your theme has a gtk-3.0 subfolder). It does not matter if xfce is written with gtk2; that does not stop it from running and theming gtk3 apps. Even Gnome and KDE allow theming each others' apps (though it doesn't always work perfectly). I'm running xfce and I use a theme with gtk2 and gtk3 configuration. [Bug 939161] Re: Hardware not showed in Gnome-Control-Center. - [M31EI Series, Realtek ALC861, Green Headphone Out, Rear]
If I start gnome-control-center sound in unity - the tab Hardware is not shown and I'm not able to switch between integrated speaker output and HDMI-Output. Re: [Bug 982303] Re: msyql configuration via dbconfig-common not picked up by initctl automatically during installation
Is this really a problem with mysql? As I said in my original bug report, I am not sure, see below. If upstart is missing a new job file, I think this is most likely caused by some problem with inotify or upstart itself, not mysql or its maintainer scripts. Indeed, that is also why I also mentioned the usb stick. Isn't inotify integrated in the file system? I suspect this issue result from the fact that the stick has vfat fs. Is your system using overlayfs? IIRC, inotify does not work with overlayfs, which is why aufs was re-instated for the precise kernel, but perhaps your system still uses overlayfs? So my question: could the same problem be with vfat? And if so, where should this bug go, to upstart (to check for the file system)? Paul By the way, the bugs I set as duplicates yesterday are probably not dups of this bug, but more likely related to bug 986892. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982303 Title: msyql configuration via dbconfig-common not picked up by initctl automatically during installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.5/+bug/982303/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 838811] Re: load average too low
see also bug 985661 ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/985661 ) I made a kernel with the patch taken out and verified, basically 0 load average (which we already know load averages are always at or near 0 no matter what the real load is undet these conditions.) I also verified my patch version2 behaves the same (version 2 is the one I escalated to kernel.org, but it got changed to cover a code path condition that my computers never take) I went back even further to my patch version 1 (see posting way 23 above), and while it does better under these low load but high frequency enter/exit idle conditons, it still isn't very good (I'll try to post a graph tomorrow). The root issue/challenge is still one of signal aliaising with the 10 ticks grace period stuff that allows for catch up due to long idle periods. Under the current structure of this part of the sched.c code, I am not sure that a solution to cover all conditions is possible in a tickless kernel. The code is also extremely difficult to follow. I do not understand why the code treats going into idle differently than exiting idle. To my way of thinking the code should be completely symetric in that regard. Anyway, I will continue to work on it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838811 Title: load average too low To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/838811/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
