[Bug 996326] Re: Grub starts in high resolution

2012-05-08 Thread Aditya
I have updated the message to include more details.

Thanks

** Description changed:

- After I install Ubuntu or Xubuntu 12.04 and restart, grub starts in high
- resolution and my monitor displays "Out of frequency".
+ After default installation of Ubuntu 12.04, grub gets configured to use
+ high resolution beyond that of my monitor. When the computer reboots, I
+ see "Out of Frequency" on my monitor.

- I had to customize grub by installing grub-customizer.
+ Hardware specs of my computer:
+
+ 18 inch Acer LED Monitor
+ AMD 7750 Dual Core Processor
+ 2 GB DDR2 RAM
+ 500 GB Samsung Hard disk
+ On board Nvidia 6600
+
+ The same error was observed on Xubuntu default install as well.
+
+ Had to use grub-customizer to rectify grub settings as a temporary fix.

[Bug 947296] Re: Update-manager stopped updating

2012-05-08 Thread Perry Blanchard
The dist upgrade is placing the 'independent' repo on all of the source URIs in
sources.list. When did 'independent' repos get into the dist channels? Oh,
wait... http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/ . They aren't. :)
just the regulars.
Easy fix.

open up your sources.list in etc/apt as root, delete 'independent' from
every dist url and save.

Attached is the corrected sources.list for reference,

[Bug 806980] Re: Compiz should handle "inappropriate" images as skydomes better

2012-05-08 Thread Chauncellor
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. Compiz, in particular, is
in heavy development and this bug may have been fixed in the newest
version of Ubuntu (12.04) if not on the current 11.10 release. If you
are able, it would be of great help if you could confirm if the bug
still exists.

I have tested out on my computer and haven't had an issue.

[Bug 988138] Re: Iagno hangs every game or two in Ubuntu 12.04. Pulse Audio related?

2012-05-08 Thread Derek
Another hilarious way that Iagno is now screwed up.
I just finished a game, after many freezes and delays.

Keep in mind this is only against the level 1 AI. And yet it still
crawls along and frequently hangs when it used to respond almost
instantly. Nonetheless it seems as dumb as ever or even dumber, so if
anything was done to the AI it made it worse.

Anyway. On to the amusingness.
After winning it gives the score:
Dark (AI): 06 Light (me): 57

Actual score?
Dark (AI): 04 Light (me): 60

[Bug 988138] Re: Iagno hangs every game or two in Ubuntu 12.04. Pulse Audio related?

2012-05-08 Thread Derek
So. I don't think it has anything to do with pulseaudio, since it hangs and the
window greys out even with sound completely disabled.
I haven't gotten it to completely lock up though, so it could be that it only
actually crashes if it is trying to play sounds when it locks.

As for Tha's AI theory - maybe? But it probably means someone really
screwed up something that worked great in 11.10 - perhaps related to
adding that annoying top message area that makes the game area resize.

It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

[Bug 996567] Re: Setting a window to appear on all desktops and then trying to move it over spaces causes it to go mad

** Attachment added: "bug.ogv"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-core/+bug/996567/+attachment/3137786/+files/bug.ogv

** Description changed:

If I take a window, right click it's title bar and then try and drag it
around the spaces view it goes mad when traversing the desktops. I know
this isn't a normal thing to do but it should handle this properly.
Personally I think it should trat it as a single window if it is being
dragged around and then cause it to appear on all desktops once the
  window has been dropped.

[Bug 865672] Re: "Adobe Flash Player Settings" dialogue does not respond to mouse clicks

2012-05-08 Thread Sean Fitzpatrick
In 10.04 and earlier compiz was enabled by default but could be toggled
on and off. You can either hit Alt-F2 and then enter metacity --replace
or you can install the compiz fusion icon (this may have been called
fusion-icon; it's been a long time since I was on 10.04.) This gives you
a little icon in the system tray you can use to switch between compiz
and metacity as your window manager.

Well, I'm sorry, but I just can't get it to happen. I've even tried
removing my binary driver (because it has an awkward dual screen mode)
and used the FOSS driver. :/

The only option I have is "gnome failsafe" but not "Ubuntu Classic" (no
effects). I tried gnome failsafe but that didn't do anything.

Thanks

lit but black with no image and no lock screen displayed."

I am running a newly installed version of Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) 32-bit

I have tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to hard drive several times.

[Bug 703389] Re: [panel] Invisible items in systray

2012-05-08 Thread Gremlyn1
I should also add that the icon WILL show up on the systray under Unity
3D, but does not under Unity 2D. Skype will show up on both with no
problems. I manually enabled both icons to show up in the systray as I
could not get either to integrate properly with the messaging menu (I
would love for the messaging menu to take over on this, though).

[Bug 703389] Re: [panel] Invisible items in systray

2012-05-08 Thread Gremlyn1
I can click where it should be and bring up the buddy list window, so
yes I'd say it's invisible rather than missing entirely. It isn't
properly integrating into the messaging menu either for me, as it
doesn't give me any way to bring up the buddy list window...but that is
a different bug I think.

[Bug 995483] Re: [HP Compaq dx2200 MT, Realtek ALC861, Green Line Out, Rear] No sound at all

2012-05-08 Thread Graham Innes
** Description changed:

- I do not know if this is a bug. I have installed every ubuntu distribution
for at least the last 5 years and the latest distro 12.4 which I installed as a
fresh install is the only one that I have had any sound problems with. I have
tried all the usual basic things to prove drivers and sound cards are visible
and loaded and I cant find anything wrong. Everything else appears to be
working well including compiz and the cube.

The sound has been off from the first boot after installation and before
anything else has been installed or altered.

  yours hopefully,

+ Sorry all, this problem was caused by the ALSAMIXER automute settng which was
enabled and only required to be disabled.
+ I knew nothing about the ALSAMIXER controls untill I read a mailing list
concerning the same problem. However since my install was a new one and not an
upgrade this setting must be the default one and must have caused problems for
many.
