[Bug 1019985] Crash report cannot be processed

2012-07-02 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

outdated debug symbol package for libunity9: package version 5.12.0-0ubuntu2
dbgsym version 5.12.0-0ubuntu1.1
zlib1g version 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3ubuntu4 required, but 1:1.2.7.dfsg-13 is
available
libuuid1 version 2.20.1-1ubuntu3 required, but 2.20.1-5.1ubuntu1 is available
outdated debug symbol package for libuuid1: package version 2.20.1-5.1ubuntu1
dbgsym version 2.20.1-1ubuntu3
outdated debug symbol package for libevince3-3: package version 3.5.3-0ubuntu1
dbgsym version 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.1
outdated debug symbol package for libappindicator3-1: package version
0.4.92-0ubuntu2 dbgsym version 0.4.92-0ubuntu1

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 1019903] Re: nautilus crashes at random times

2012-07-02 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 958174] Re: Wireless Mouse not registered on Startup or Reboot

2012-07-02 Thread Mark Fraser
Hope this gets fixed soon as I upgraded the wife's computer at the
weekend and only came across this bug after she turned computer on for
the first time after the upgrade.

This is with a keyboard/mouse combination and this bug causes both to
stop working.

[Bug 1019989] [NEW] dead links in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu

2012-07-02 Thread Manfred Hampl
Public bug reported:

Some links in the Other Links chapter
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu#Other_Links are
dead.

3. Adding extra repositories
https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/add-applications/C/extra-repositories-adding.html
leads to 404
(the closest existing match most probably is
https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/add-applications/C/adding-repos.html )
4. Adding, Removing and Updating Applications
https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/add-applications/C/index.html leads to 404
(the closest existing match most probably is
https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/add-applications/C/index.html )
5. The Debian Apt User Manual http://www.debian.org/doc/user-manuals#apt-howto
apparently does no more exist on that page (no such anchor)
(the closest existing match most probably is
http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/apt-howto/ which is marked Obsolete
Documentation)

Browsing the web documentation reveals some more astonishing facts:
https://help.ubuntu.com/11.04/add-applications/C/index.html
does not exist at all, even if in launchpad code an entry
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-doc/ubuntu-docs/natty/files/head:/add-applications/
 exists.
For oneiric and precise the pages
https://help.ubuntu.com/11.10/add-applications/C/index.html and
https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/add-applications/C/index.html do not exist, and I
did not find a related launchpad code entry.

[Bug 1019994] [NEW] pam_ssh has been removed

2012-07-02 Thread Andrey Bondarenko
Public bug reported:

The package is effectively orphaned in Debian and Ubuntu. Debian package
maintainer Jens Peter Secher retired in since July 2011 (see
https://nm.debian.org/public/person/jps). In December 2012 the package
was removed from Debian unstable because of looking abandoned and has
multiple problems.

Package has low popcon so Debian developers decide not to support it any
further. I'm trying to update the package to a new upstream version 1.97
in my bazaar branch, but there is a need to update Debian patches for a
new version. I'm not PAM expert, and it's hard for me to decide if some
patch was superseded by upstream changes or not. Also I'm afrait to
introduce severe security bugs because of lack of knowledge.

Currently, package is in works for me state, but it is updated to
upstream version 1.97 and all debian patches on top of 1.92 disabled
because of conflicts. Brach uploaded to launchpad, and packages for
precise available in my PPA. Unfortunatelly, I don't have enough free
time to become package maintainer, sorry.

[Bug 1019557] Re: package squid3 3.1.19-1ubuntu3.12.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2012-07-02 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu, so I'm marking this bug as Invalid.

Specifically, you don't have squid configuration files in /etc/squid3,
so the squid3 upgrade could not complete.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 929989] Re: compiz (decor) - Warn: failed to bind pixmap to texture

2012-07-02 Thread Miklos Juhasz
Yes, this bug is fixed, the warning is gone from the terminal. The
warning however never bothered me but the constant crashes with the
proposed package do.

I read in the linked guide:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification
, that If you encounter a regression in a package that has been uploaded to
*-proposed, please::
step 5: Set the verification-failed tag on the corresponding SRU bug report.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood something.

2012-07-02 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu, so I'm marking this bug as Invalid.

Specifically, during the upgrade you used your modified version of
my.cnf rather than the package's version, so errors from this point may
be due to your custom configuration rather than a bug in the package.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
and then change the bug status back to New.

any updates about this? Will a new openssl package be included in

would be useful for most users to apply the patch in the official LTS

[Bug 727903] Re: XDnD directly to a window in the spread fails

2012-07-02 Thread John Lea
** Changed in: ayatana-design
Status: Fix Released = Fix Committed

** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed = Triaged

** Description changed:

Dropping a file into a window via the 'drag file to Launcher, then drag
file to Spread' interaction fails to load the file into the selected
  window.

To reproduce: Open two firefox windows. Drag a .html or .png file to
the Firefox icon in the Launcher. As soon as the spread appears quickly
drop the file to one of the firefox windows while still in the spread
view. The file should open into the window it was just dropped on but
  nothing happens.

Does not work, needs to be fixed ;-)

[Bug 1020005] [NEW] OpenJDK crashes in glXCreateWindow

2012-07-02 Thread Tobias Dussa
Public bug reported:

Hi,

when I'm starting up EVO (http://evo.caltech.edu/evoNext/koala.jnlp), I get a
JRE crashdump.
I'll attach the dump to this bug report.
I'm not entirely certain what other information is necessary to debug this
issue. I'm running
Xubuntu Precise with up-to-date patches, and EVO used to work until about two
weeks ago.
Unfortunately, I cannot pinpoint the exact updates that introduced the bug as I
was out of
office for a couple of weeks and probably did not notice the problem right away.
So, if any other information is required, please let me know.

THX cheers,
Toby.

[Bug 1020004] [NEW] /initrd.img symlink created with absolute target pathname

2012-07-02 Thread Juha Aatrokoski

This makes accessing the latest initrd difficult if the rootfs in

[Bug 1020008] [NEW] My own messages appear as notifications

2012-07-02 Thread Roman Yepishev
Public bug reported:

Under heavy I/O empathy starts regarding my own messages as the incoming ones.
I was able to reproduce this by attempting to create a 5Gb file on a 5400RPM
SATA 2 disk - sending a message during such kind of high I/O periods makes my
own messages appear in the notification bubbles.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04
Package: empathy 3.4.2.1-0ubuntu1
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-26.41-generic 3.2.19
Uname: Linux 3.2.0-26-generic x86_64
ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu10
Architecture: amd64
Date: Mon Jul 2 12:35:55 2012
EcryptfsInUse: Yes
InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Alpha amd64 (20120225)
SourcePackage: empathy
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)

[Bug 893629] Re: LibreOffice Writer: Saving a new file causes crash

2012-07-02 Thread cirrus
In Ubuntu 12.04 Precise I can not work with LibreOffice at all. The fix
from above does not work any more.

Libreoffice crashes every 5 minutes with the error message named above:

I tried reinstalling libreoffice from scratch (using purge and deleting all
~/.libreoffice-Directories). Nothing helps. OpenOffice.org does not work,
either:

Currently I am forced to use a virtual machine running another OS with a
commercial office suite to have access to a text processing software...
that's just too bad.

P.S. Reinstalling libraptor2 does not help, too.

[Bug 1020017] [NEW] [SRU] Backport 2.33-1 to precise

2012-07-02 Thread Daniel Holbach
Public bug reported:

The updates from 2.32-2 to 2.33-1 are important for app developers, as
they are still targetting precise and will do so for a longer while.
Therefore it will be interesting to backport 2.33-1 to precise.

The following changes are going into this update:
- auto.py: Fix crash when encountering binary files with Python 3.
  (LP: #995653)
- auto.py: Fix crash when encountering an UTF-8 Python source code file.
- debian/local/python-mkdebian cleanups: (LP: #706051)
  - Don't use {XS, XB}-Python-Version.
  - Generate an up to date Standards-Version.
  - Generate build dep on debhelper (= 8) as debian/compat is set to '8'
and debhelper overrides are used.
  - No need to generate a build dep on cdbs.
- debian/local/python-mkdebian: For projects using --prefix, install
binaries into a .../bin/ subdirectory instead of into the main project
directory. This avoids potential name collisions with local Python
modules. Thanks to Michael Terry for the patch!
- debian/local/python-mkdebian: Create copyright format 1.0 compatible
copyright files. Thanks Andrew Starr-Bochicchio! (LP: #1002379)
- debian/copyright: Update to copyright 1.0 format.
- debian/control: Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.3.
- python-mkdebian: Fix wrong kde4 ui file detection regular expression.
  Thanks Angelo Compagnucci! (LP: #1002076)

This will give us many more cleaner apps in Ubuntu.

[Bug 1020017] Re: [SRU] Backport 2.33-1 to precise

2012-07-02 Thread Daniel Holbach
Test-case:
  cd /tmp
  quickly create ubuntu-application test-project
  cd test-project/
  quickly package

Observe in:
 - debian/control: no {XS, XB}-Python-Version, Standards-Version: 3.9.3,
debhelper (= 8), no cdbs build-depends. (LP: #706051)
 - debian/compat: is 8 (LP: #706051)
 - debian/copyright:
http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/copyright-format/1.0/ is used (LP:
#1002379)

More test-cases:
  echo 'widget class=Q' test.ui
  bzr add test.ui
  quickly package

Observe in debian/control: no build-dep on python-kde4-dev (LP:
#1002076), if you change the 'Q' to 'K' in test.ui and re-run 'quickly
package', it will get added as a build depends.

Another test-case:
  wget http://people.canonical.com/~dholbach/tmp/es.py
  bzr add es.py
  quickly package

Note: no crash. (LP: #995653)

Two kernels tested. Both exhibited the problem.

the issue in 1 minute.

[Bug 1020023] [NEW] Packaging: Smartcard and PulseAudio support not enabled in freerdp

2012-07-02 Thread Alex Stanev
Public bug reported:

From the buildlog in Presise(https://launchpadlibrarian.net/106414642

[Bug 1019662] Re: foomatic fails when printing from OSX client, bash error [arg length ???]

2012-07-02 Thread Yann Dupont
I have  the exact same problem, but with a different scenario ;
I just connected a new printer on my system ; (canon C5030i). All is working
well
except when I print PDF files from evince, where it fails with the exact same
messages previously reported.

(that is, bash problem /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed)

The funny part is that printint PDF is OK with adobe reader OR okular.

So the PDF handling is probably different between evince and the rest.
Don't know how this lead to the very same bug of printing PDF from a
remote apple computer ?

Ho, and I can't say if the bug is new or not, I just connected the
printer this morning.

Re: [Bug 794112] Kerberos + LDAP + NFSv4 on Natty - Unable to recover unattended client

2012-07-02 Thread Christophe Ségui
Le 1 juil. 2012 à 17:14, Dominic Gross a écrit :

The Kernel posted by Chris allows, (with console login), the user to unlock
 the
 screensaver

Well, this seems to fix the original bug reported here. Which is that
nobody can log in using LDAP / Kerberos once a ticket of one signed in
 user expired.

yes it is.

but applications, such like web browser, remains stuck and the session has to
be restarted in order to work properly.

This looks like the intended behavior to me. The user's Kerberos Ticket
expires some time after log in. At that point the applications can no
longer access the user's NFS home directory and the applications get
stuck or crash. Once a user enters his / her password again a new ticket
is granted and the user can log into the session /access the home
directory again. However, in my experience few applications fully
recover from not being able to access the home directory for a longer
 time.

It wasn't the behaviour before rpc.gssd returns EKEYEXPIRED. Ce
filesystem was fully accessible to the users apps even if they got stuck
for days … It seems correct to me that the filesystem remains
unaccessible until the user unlock the screensaver … for obvious
security purpose (implementing an auto refresh, just like you said,
seems to me like a security breach). However, it would be nice to have a
way to get the former behaviour which allows user to get back his
session without relogging and ,at the same time, don't give system
access to the user FS even when the user is gone away.

So, it seems to me, that in order to fix this remaining issue one needs
to set up something to automatically renew Kerberos Tickets. This can be
implemented either via a cronjob or packages like kstart or sssd.

[Bug 392204] Re: Huge CPU usage by mount.ntfs process

2012-07-02 Thread Sam Geen
I have the same problem (running Wubi with Ubuntu 12.04) and it's
rendering my computer virtually unusable. I have also had this problem
on a different computer running Wubi with Ubuntu 11.10. I have been
using Wubi with Ubuntu 11.04 on the same machine with no problems in the
past. All have been clean installs (i.e. not upgraded from previous
versions). My version of ntfs-3g is ntfs-3g 2012.1.15AR.5 integrated
FUSE 27 (though the problem has existed for other versions after Ubuntu
11.04).

mount.ntfs appears to run whenever write-to-hard-drive is occurring.
Additionally, it blocks most applications from running (presumably as
they all eventually need to read/write to HDD), resulting in greying out
of the application window for a few minutes. It's especially problematic
when doing 1MB file operations (e.g. installing packages with apt-get).
The Windows install is barely used, so it's unlikely to be highly
fragmented.

I have tried various things mentioned in this thread to no effect (I
came unstuck with the suggestion to backport ntfs-3g as Ubuntu refused
to backport fuse/fuse-utils for some reason). I agree that it's bizarre
that this bug has persisted for so long without a fix, especially since
(in my experience) it make Wubi unuseable. I suspect that my solution
will eventually be to give up on Wubi and create a new partition for
Ubuntu, but it's frustrating that I'd have to do this when previous
versions have worked fine.

[Bug 1020027] [NEW] Alt-backtick should leave current window at the top of the stack *while* switching

2012-07-02 Thread Sparhawk
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1) Have 3 or more windows open from one application.
2) Press alt-backtick (alt-`) twice. (That is, hold alt, press-and-release
backtick twice, then release alt.)

Expected behaviour:
The third-highest window should move to the top of the stack and be activated.

Rationale:
This is observed when you do the same thing with alt-tab; the third-highest
application is activated.

Observed behaviour:
The initial top-most window is reselected.
N.B. This happens whether you press alt-backtick quickly or slowly. For a rapid
press, I would expect the alt-tab switcher not to pop up visually, although
it does. This issue relates to this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/987156

This bug occurs because unity immediately moves the top-most window to
the second position in the stack (as observed from the alt-tab
switcher thumbnails). That is, if the windows are initially ordered as
#1, #2, and #3, then the alt-tab switcher shows them as #2, #1, #3.
The initial alt-backtick then selects the top-most of this stack, which
is now #2. This is counter-intuitive not only because of the bug
described here, but also because until alt has been released, the
switch has not occurred yet. The behaviour of the alt-tab switcher is
more intuitive, where the #1, #2, #3 order is maintained, but the
selection begins at the second-highest application.

This bug means the selection of other windows is counter-intuitive, and (for
windows lower than #2) requires an extra key-press. i.e.:
1 × alt-backtick = select window #2 (as expected)
2 × alt-backtick = select window #1 (expect selection of window #3)
3 × alt-backtick = select window #3 (expect selection of window #4)

[Bug 1020017] Re: [SRU] Backport 2.33-1 to precise

2012-07-02 Thread Daniel Holbach
** Description changed:

The updates from 2.32-2 to 2.33-1 are important for app developers, as
they are still targetting precise and will do so for a longer while.
Therefore it will be interesting to backport 2.33-1 to precise.

The following changes are going into this update:
- - auto.py: Fix crash when encountering binary files with Python 3.
- (LP: #995653)
- - auto.py: Fix crash when encountering an UTF-8 Python source code file.
- - debian/local/python-mkdebian cleanups: (LP: #706051)
- - Don't use {XS, XB}-Python-Version.
- - Generate an up to date Standards-Version.
- - Generate build dep on debhelper (= 8) as debian/compat is set to '8'
- and debhelper overrides are used.
- - No need to generate a build dep on cdbs.
- - debian/local/python-mkdebian: For projects using --prefix, install
- binaries into a .../bin/ subdirectory instead of into the main project
- directory. This avoids potential name collisions with local Python
- modules. Thanks to Michael Terry for the patch!
- - debian/local/python-mkdebian: Create copyright format 1.0 compatible
- copyright files. Thanks Andrew Starr-Bochicchio! (LP: #1002379)
- - debian/copyright: Update to copyright 1.0 format.
- - debian/control: Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.3.
- - python-mkdebian: Fix wrong kde4 ui file detection regular expression.
- Thanks Angelo Compagnucci! (LP: #1002076)
+ - auto.py: Fix crash when encountering binary files with Python 3.
