[Bug 1030520] [NEW] logwatch: Makes use of $^X, broken under overlayfs.
Public bug reported: Bug number 1030519 tracks this issue in perl and Bug number 1007089 is the root cause. In Ubuntu perl is located in /usr/bin/perl, so using $^X isn't necessarily needed. Also you should investigate using eval() or other methods to get a sub-perl instance. One solution may be to copy stdin to another handle and then close stdin and open STDIN $(cat ... |). A pipepare can be used to get an actual system filedescriptor. Then the perl code can be run in an eval, instead of a system. [Bug 1030554] [NEW] cannot see folders or other devices in ubuntuone gui
Public bug reported: On both 12.10, the Ubuntu-One window fails to show the folders for syncing and only syncs the Ubuntu-One folder. Adding a folder on my net book on which sync is working properly brings up a pop up on my desktop that tells me a new folder is available for syncing - but the Ubuntu window fails to show it. I have put a screenshot from my net book with 12.04 (working OK) at: http://www.colwicktheatreclub.org.uk/barry/ubuntu1_b.png and from my desktop (showing problem) at: http://www.colwicktheatreclub.org.uk/barry/ubuntu1_a.png I can do: barry@quantal:~$ u1sdtool --subscribe-folder=9f70c8d9-0f5a-4f17-86bf-60167bb38464 barry@quantal:~$ u1sdtool --list-folders Folder list: id=9f70c8d9-0f5a-4f17-86bf-60167bb38464 subscribed=True path=/home/barry/prog cut So the folders can be subscribed manually - and it is currently syncing the newly subscribed folder. How can I help diagnose where the problem is hiding? (maybe Splendid Video Intelligent Technology on/off, maybe not) V start webcam application Spacecycle through power saving modes Up (multimedia) stop Down (multimedia) play/pause Left (multimedia) backward Right(multimedia) forward Enter (on the keypad) calc On a fresh ubuntu 12.04 install, nothing works, except F1, F2 and F7. I set up an upstream 3.5 kernel and path it acording to http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.platform.x86.devel/3537 With the patch: everything works but F5, F6, C, V. - C and V can be configurated through keyboard settings, so there is nothing to worry about - F5 and F6 give nothing to dmesg and are not recognized by keyboard settings (i cannot use them on any shortut)... - I don't know if space is working (let me know and i will do the test) -- Finally, - there is a need to backport the fix mentionned above - there is really something wrong with F5 and F6 that are still not working even after the fix... [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
Just my 2 cents I have this problem also (kubuntu/ Q6600 /64 bits/ precise) A sure way for me to trigger this problem is creating an large avi (openDML file) from another large file (TS or mkv) i.e. for example read a 6 GB MKV file over the network and create a local or networked large openDML file. It happens also with TS, basically any large files (several GB). The larger the file, the higher the probability. It happens also when doing less io intensive stuff but much more rarely Doing the openDML file trick is a 90% chance of deadlock (and i have tried creating/reading from local HDD1, local SSD, NFS mount + memtest x86 to rule out faulty hdd/memory) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. [Bug 984970] Re: Audacity and Inkscape are in the video production menu
I think the problem here is that people aren't expecting the menu to be ordered according to workflow categories, but according to the the application definition. Incskape, by definition is a graphics application, while Audacity is by definition an audio editor. I'd like to discuss moving back to a menu system that is purely based around application definitions, and let workflow categorization exist else where, in documentation or in a custom application meant to guide the user to different workflows. The menu does not work well for this. First of all, it's confusing finding applications in the wrong category. Second, the menu gets flooded with double entries, when all you need is one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/984970 Title: Audacity and Inkscape are in the video production menu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntustudio-default-settings/+bug/984970/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1030559] [NEW] pulseaudio sound glitches when playing over network
Public bug reported: What I expected to happen: Playing a flash video eg. from ted.com using chromium-browser. I forward the application sound output via the network (using paprefs and pavucontrol). I expect glitchfree playback via the remote pulse audio server (which is connected with a local threaded network to the local computer). What happens: The sound is very choppy and/or the video stops and then fast forwards for a couple of seconds. See example here: http://youtu.be/bv0SoMbJr9g Step to reproduce: Enable network forwarding (Make discoverable PulseAudio network sound devices available locally) on the Local machine and Enable network access to local sound devices on the remote machine. Start a ted.com video and it will stutter. You can get the sound working again by switching to local output device and then back to remote. This fixes the stuttering until another video is started. Other notes: The stuttering only happens for flash content ie. rhythmbox works just fine. Html5 version of youtube works (although I am not sure that it always works). Flash content does not stutter when using local output. [Bug 1030503] Re: 14e4:4315 No wifi (BCM4312)
Shahar Or, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please do not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Summary changed: - No wifi (BCM4312) + 14e4:4315 No wifi (BCM4312) ** Tags added: kernel-wifi needs-upstream-testing ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1030503 Title: 14e4:4315 No wifi (BCM4312) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1030503/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1030320] Re: [HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, IDT 92HD75B3X5, Speaker, Internal] No automute - Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32bit
** Description changed: Hello. I had a problem with the output of my internal speakers, when I had headphones connected to my Hp Pavilion dv6 laptop, via jack port. The sound output was generated from both my internal speakers and the headphones, instead of coming only from the headphones (jack-sense issue). I modified the contect of the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and set the options snd-hda-intel model option to hp-dv5 instead of auto and that solved my problem. After rebooting, the speakers are muted while jack headphones are connected to my laptop, as they should. It is worth to mention that this solution only worked for the 1.0.25 version of the driver. I also applied the solution while having the 1.0.24 version, but it didn't work. I lost sound from my internal speakers no matter if the headphones were connected or not. - I didn't have the same problem on Ubuntu 11.10 and older installations on my laptop.
