[Bug 1005821] Re: Can't use # as the delimiter between key prefixes and IDs.

2012-07-29 Thread Clint Byrum
Patch looks good to me. I don't see any problem with carrying it until
upstream imports it, especially since I think distros are the only real
users of start-memcached.

I forwarded it upstream and to Debian. Marking Triaged.

[Bug 1027061] Re: Postfix upgrade to 2.9.3-2~12.04.1 changes configuration files

2012-07-29 Thread Mephisto
If this is any help, here is the installation log
(/var/log/apt/history.log) from the package upgrade that changed the
config file:

Start-Date: 2012-07-20 06:39:28
Commandline: apt-get -qq -y upgrade
Upgrade: postfix:amd64 (2.9.1-5, 2.9.3-2~12.04.1)
End-Date: 2012-07-20 06:39:31

This is not an issue with puppet, as puppet was not involved in the
package upgrade at all. The upgrade was done by a nightly cron job that
uses only apt-get.

2012-07-29 Thread Ante Karamatić
To make it clear. When one installs postifx and dovecot, mailbox_command
is not set. It's up to the administrator to set it to whatever it wants.
This bug (actually, it's a feature request) impacts only those that
install mail-stack-delivery and then go to customize it, it does not
impact everybody that installs dovecot.

[Bug 1030520] [NEW] logwatch: Makes use of $^X, broken under overlayfs.

2012-07-29 Thread Mike Mestnik
Public bug reported:

Bug number 1030519 tracks this issue in perl and Bug number 1007089 is
the root cause. In Ubuntu perl is located in /usr/bin/perl, so using
$^X isn't necessarily needed. Also you should investigate using eval()
or other methods to get a sub-perl instance.

One solution may be to copy stdin to another handle and then close stdin
and open STDIN $(cat ... |). A pipepare can be used to get an actual
system filedescriptor. Then the perl code can be run in an eval,
instead of a system.

I would be willing to help with development.

/etc/cron.daily/00logwatch:
sh: 1: /bin/perl: not found
sh: 1: /bin/perl: not found
system 'cat '/var/log/mail.log' '/var/log/mail.log.1' | /bin/perl

''/tmp/logwatch.BMbdlb_J/maillog' failed: 32512 at /usr/sbin/logwatch line 871.

[Bug 1030534] [NEW] sftp -r remotedir . creates directories with wrong permissions

Public bug reported:

[Bug 988819] Re: [SRU] wrong path to libxml2.so.2 in mod_security - broken by multiarch enabled libraries

2012-07-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package modsecurity-apache - 2.6.3-1ubuntu0.2

---
modsecurity-apache (2.6.3-1ubuntu0.2) precise-proposed; urgency=low

  * debian/mod-security.load: revert previous change, since an alternate
solution has been agreed in the bug.
  * debian/mod-security.load: drop LoadFile directive entirely, and rely on
the loader to resolve all required dependencies. This avoids the
hardcoded path which fails on multiarch-enabled systems (LP: #988819).

modsecurity-apache (2.6.3-1ubuntu0.1) precise-proposed; urgency=low

  * debian/mod-security.load: remove libxml2.so.2 path, since with
multiarch it is always incorrect on i386 and amd64. Use no path and
a corresponding apache2 change to use the standard dlopen search
path in this case to allow the library to be found (LP: #988819).

---
mod-proxy-html (3.0.1-1ubuntu0.1) precise-proposed; urgency=low

  * debian/rules: explicitly link against libxml2.so, so that it gets
declared as a dependency. This will allow apache to load the module
without explicitly specifying the correct multiarch path.
  * debian/conf/mod-proxy.load: drop LoadFile directive entirely, and rely
on the loader to resolve all required dependencies. This avoids the
hardcoded path which fails on multiarch-enabled systems (LP: #988819).

Hi,
I can't reproduce this issue now. It only happen once. As my first
description, i use multipath -f to remove the duplicate device. then
everything is ok.

Here is the log, configuratin file as requested. Due to no duplicated
devices are produced, maybe these log can't help debuging.

[Bug 516430] Re: Please merge libapache2-mod-perl2 (2.0.4-6)(main) from debian squeeze(main)

http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/2009/CVE-2009-0796.html
Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron): ignored (reached end-of-life)

I happily accept that the desktop version has reached end of life.
However the server version has support until April 2013.

The comment above says that the bug was fixed in 2.0.4 in February 2010,
which was within the support period even for Hardy desktop!

What is the point of having LTS versions if you still fail to patch
issues which have been fixed already in other versions within the
support period!

[Bug 780656] Re: {DRDY ERR} trouble with CD-ROM

2012-07-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Bogdan Butnaru, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available? It
will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please do not test the
kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment on
which kernel version specifically you tested.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not
boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment
as to why specifically you were unable to test it.

Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1030554] [NEW] cannot see folders or other devices in ubuntuone gui

2012-07-29 Thread Barry Drake
Public bug reported:

On both 12.10, the Ubuntu-One window fails to show the folders for
syncing and only syncs the Ubuntu-One folder. Adding a folder on my net
book on which sync is working properly brings up a pop up on my desktop
that tells me a new folder is available for syncing - but the Ubuntu
window fails to show it.

I have put a screenshot from my net book with 12.04 (working OK) at:
http://www.colwicktheatreclub.org.uk/barry/ubuntu1_b.png

and from my desktop (showing problem) at:
http://www.colwicktheatreclub.org.uk/barry/ubuntu1_a.png

I can do:
barry@quantal:~$ u1sdtool
--subscribe-folder=9f70c8d9-0f5a-4f17-86bf-60167bb38464
barry@quantal:~$ u1sdtool --list-folders
Folder list:
  id=9f70c8d9-0f5a-4f17-86bf-60167bb38464 subscribed=True path=/home/barry/prog
cut

So the folders can be subscribed manually - and it is currently syncing
the newly subscribed folder. How can I help diagnose where the problem
is hiding? I've got the following:

barry@quantal:~$ bash ubuntuone-ubuntu-syncdaemon-diag.sh
Stage: All checks completed
Report:
Is user home encrypted? no
Is metadata readable? yes
Is syncdaemon running? yes

[Bug 1030556] [NEW] Special keys don't work on ASUS N56VZ

2012-07-29 Thread sami
Public bug reported:

Special keys don't work on ASUS N56VZ.

This is very simlar to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=679158#62 but with very small differences.

Here is a list of the available special keys:
 Key Description
Fn+
  F1 Sleep
  F2 Wireless on/off
  F3 decrease keyboard backlight brightness
  F4 increase keyboard backlight brightness
  F5 decrease screen brightness
  F6 increase screen brightness
  F7 enable/disable screen
  F8 toggle screen/external
  F9 disable touchpad
 F10 mute sound
 F11 decrease volume
 F12 increase volume
C? (maybe Splendid Video Intelligent Technology on/off, maybe not)
   V start webcam application
   Spacecycle through power saving modes
  Up (multimedia) stop
Down (multimedia) play/pause
Left (multimedia) backward
Right(multimedia) forward
Enter (on the keypad) calc

On a fresh ubuntu 12.04 install, nothing works, except F1, F2 and F7.
I set up an upstream 3.5 kernel and path it acording to
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.platform.x86.devel/3537

With the patch: everything works but F5, F6, C, V.
- C and V can be configurated through keyboard settings, so there is nothing to
worry about
- F5 and F6 give nothing to dmesg and are not recognized by keyboard settings
(i cannot use them on any shortut)...
- I don't know if space is working (let me know and i will do the test)

-- Finally,
- there is a need to backport the fix mentionned above
- there is really something wrong with F5 and F6 that are still not working
even after the fix...

[Bug 762203] Re: Computer is not turned off at shutdown

2012-07-29 Thread dino99
Sadly this issue persist with all the kernel versions up to the trunk
one on one of my system, so its related to hardware/chipset (here asus
p5wdh):

- first cold boot: either panic after getting the grub menu choice loading or
it self kill
- second cold boot most of the time kill itself before getting the grub menu
- thirs cold boot works but the grub menu does not activate its countdown timer.

- shutdown seems working normally
- reboot never works: need to cut power, then get the 3 first cold boot issue

[Bug 1030556] Re: Special keys don't work on ASUS N56VZ

2012-07-29 Thread sami
Some interesting research : http://dev.iksaif.net/issues/235
And :
http://askubuntu.com/questions/156708/how-to-get-multimedia-keys-working-at-my-asus-n56vz-ubuntu-12-04-notebook/169706#169706

** Description changed:

Special keys don't work on ASUS N56VZ.

This is very simlar to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=679158#62 but with very small differences.

Here is a list of the available special keys:
- Key Description
+  Key Description
  Fn+
- F1 Sleep
- F2 Wireless on/off
- F3 decrease keyboard backlight brightness
- F4 increase keyboard backlight brightness
- F5 decrease screen brightness
- F6 increase screen brightness
- F7 enable/disable screen
- F8 toggle screen/external
- F9 disable touchpad
- F10 mute sound
- F11 decrease volume
- F12 increase volume
-C? (maybe Splendid Video Intelligent Technology on/off, maybe
not)
-V start webcam application
-Spacecycle through power saving modes
- Up (multimedia) stop
- Down (multimedia) play/pause
- Left (multimedia) backward
- Right(multimedia) forward
+   F1 Sleep
+   F2 Wireless on/off
+   F3 decrease keyboard backlight brightness
+   F4 increase keyboard backlight brightness
+   F5 decrease screen brightness
+   F6 increase screen brightness
+   F7 enable/disable screen
+   F8 toggle screen/external
+   F9 disable touchpad
+  F10 mute sound
+  F11 decrease volume
+  F12 increase volume
+    C? (maybe Splendid Video Intelligent Technology on/off, maybe
not)
+    V start webcam application
+    Spacecycle through power saving modes
+   Up (multimedia) stop
+ Down (multimedia) play/pause
+ Left (multimedia) backward
+ Right(multimedia) forward
  Enter (on the keypad) calc
-

On a fresh ubuntu 12.04 install, nothing works, except F1, F2 and F7.
I set up an upstream 3.5 kernel and path it acording to
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.platform.x86.devel/3537

With the patch: everything works but F5, F6, C, V.
  - C and V can be configurated through keyboard settings, so there is nothing
to worry about
  - F5 and F6 give nothing to dmesg and are not recognized by keyboard settings
(i cannot use them on any shortut)...
  - I don't know if space is working (let me know and i will do the test)

  -- Finally,
  - there is a need to backport the fix mentionned above
  - there is really something wrong with F5 and F6 that are still not working
even after the fix...

[Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2012-07-29 Thread mean
Just my 2 cents
I have this problem also (kubuntu/ Q6600 /64 bits/ precise)

A sure way for me to trigger this problem is creating an large avi
(openDML file) from another large file (TS or mkv)

i.e. for example
read a 6 GB MKV file over the network and create a local or networked large
openDML file.

It happens also with TS, basically any large files (several GB). The
larger the file, the higher the probability.

It happens also when doing less io intensive stuff but much more rarely

Doing the openDML file trick is a 90% chance of deadlock

(and i have tried creating/reading from local HDD1, local SSD, NFS mount
+ memtest x86 to rule out faulty hdd/memory)

[Bug 984970] Re: Audacity and Inkscape are in the video production menu

2012-07-29 Thread Kaj Ailomaa
I think the problem here is that people aren't expecting the menu to be ordered
according to workflow categories, but according to the the application
definition. Incskape, by definition is a graphics application, while Audacity
is by definition an audio editor.
I'd like to discuss moving back to a menu system that is purely based around
application definitions, and let workflow categorization exist else where, in
documentation or in a custom application meant to guide the user to different
workflows.
The menu does not work well for this. First of all, it's confusing finding
applications in the wrong category. Second, the menu gets flooded with double
entries, when all you need is one.

switched to fedora) I was noticing that idle IO was jumping to 100%. At
the same time my disk was quiet meaning it wasn't disk IO.

[Bug 1030559] [NEW] pulseaudio sound glitches when playing over network

2012-07-29 Thread Hans Harhoff Andersen
Public bug reported:

What I expected to happen:
Playing a flash video eg. from ted.com using chromium-browser. I forward the
application sound output via the network (using paprefs and pavucontrol). I
expect glitchfree playback via the remote pulse audio server (which is
connected with a local threaded network to the local computer).

What happens:
The sound is very choppy and/or the video stops and then fast forwards for a
couple of seconds. See example here: http://youtu.be/bv0SoMbJr9g

Step to reproduce:
Enable network forwarding (Make discoverable PulseAudio network sound devices
available locally) on the Local machine and Enable network access to local
sound devices on the remote machine.
Start a ted.com video and it will stutter. You can get the sound working again
by switching to local output device and then back to remote. This fixes the
stuttering until another video is started.

Other notes:
The stuttering only happens for flash content ie. rhythmbox works just fine.
Html5 version of youtube works (although I am not sure that it always works).
Flash content does not stutter when using local output.

See also this askubuntu question about the same issue (with pulseaudio logs):

[Bug 1030503] Re: 14e4:4315 No wifi (BCM4312)

2012-07-29 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Shahar Or, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
Could you please test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .

[Bug 1030320] Re: [HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, IDT 92HD75B3X5, Speaker, Internal] No automute - Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32bit

2012-07-29 Thread Elias Ps
** Description changed:

  Hello.

I had a problem with the output of my internal speakers, when I had
headphones connected to my Hp Pavilion dv6 laptop, via jack port. The sound
output was generated from both my internal speakers and the headphones, instead
of coming only from the headphones (jack-sense issue).
I modified the contect of the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and set the
options snd-hda-intel model option to hp-dv5 instead of auto and that
solved my problem. After rebooting, the speakers are muted while jack
headphones are connected to my laptop, as they should.

It is worth to mention that this solution only worked for the 1.0.25 version
of the driver. I also applied the solution while having the 1.0.24 version, but
it didn't work. I lost sound from my internal speakers no matter if the
headphones were connected or not.
- I didn't have the same problem on Ubuntu 11.10 and older installations on my
laptop. My current installation clean, I formatted my hard drive and
installed the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32bit, I didn't upgrade to it.

laptop. My current installation is clean, I formatted my hard drive and

Could you please add in the Alsa code the correct PCI ID for my audio
card so that it works by default with the 'hp-dv5' model?

Here are some more info regarding my installation:
