[Bug 875440] Re: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql

2012-09-16 Thread potatochip
Bugger I spoke too soon. It seems to have stopped working again.

I've now done as evrimfuruncu suggested and used rimap. it's far easier than
banging my head against the wall.
For anyone interested my steps were;

Edit /etc/postfix/sasl/smtpd.conf so that it only conatins;

pwcheck_method: saslauthd
mech_list: plain login

Edit /etc/default/saslauthd and change these lines;

MECHANISMS=rimap
MECH_OPTIONS=127.0.0.1
OPTIONS=-c -m /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd -r

Everything is now working and my system is up to date.

[Bug 952556] Re: [Precise] [Hardware-killer] HD restarts every few seconds

2012-09-16 Thread Thierry Volpiatto
I wonder why you are not using by default laptop-mode in ubuntu instead of
trying to hook hdparm rules here and there.
I have switched to laptop-mode, set all values for hdparm -B to 254 and problem
is gone.
I have uncommented also in /etc/apm/event.d/20hdparm:
APMD_DRIVES=
Don't know if it is relevant.
I am using xubuntu and I have unchecked in the power manager setting the
spindown option, to let laptop-mode do the job.
laptop-mode allow fine settings for many other things also, using it would
simplify a lot power settings in ubuntu.

[Bug 829086] Re: Artifacts in 3D with Sandy Bridge

2012-09-16 Thread postadelmaga
I have same problem on 12.04 using different kernel 3.2/3.4/3.6
The issue is for me visible only in Never Winter Night ( linux native version):
- cpu intensive use and heat
- render artifacts

Render Artifacts are experimented only when I wear some special object in the
game.
Cpu intensive use is bug as well, the game is very old and my pc is i5 + 4 gb (
during the game play temperature goes 90' degree and my pc shutdown, I have a
notebook )

[Bug 1036543] Re: screen shot from the onboard keyboard layout shift state in Ubuntu 12.04 not possible

2012-09-16 Thread marmuta
Do I understand you right, are you trying to take the screen shot by
pressing Onboard's Prnt key? If so, then releasing the shift key (or
any latched modifier) is expected, this is just how Onboard works. You'd
have to lock the key, i.e. press it twice to make it stick.

However, you can catch Onboard in any state by taking a delayed screen
shot. Run the Screenshot application, set Grab after a delay of to
10 seconds, click Take Screenshot, adjust Onboard to your liking and
wait. The same from the command line would be gnome-screenshot -d 10.

[Bug 1043066] Re: Test Case dwi001- Full disk install PPC Alternate- 12.10. Yaboot installation failure

2012-09-16 Thread ojordan
I've reassigned this to ubiquity (even though the original bug report
was using the debian-installer). This will cause ubiquity to not
complete the installation properly (unless things have changed in
quantal) and so ubiquity needs a clean way of handling failures from
yaboot-installer. Installing the bootloader manually is not a problem
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCFAQ#I.27ve_lost_yaboot.2C_what_can_I_do.3F
), but the failure to complete installation fully is. Ubiquity needs to
display an error message that yaboot-installer has failed and move on.

** Package changed: yaboot-installer (Ubuntu) = ubiquity (Ubuntu)

[Bug 401003]

2012-09-16 Thread Lo-bugs
master opens the attached document without any obvious problem.

LibreOffice is id 741c56a, pulled 2012-09-13.

autogen.lastrun:
--enable-symbols
--enable-dbgutil
--enable-crashdump
--disable-build-mozilla
--without-system-postgresql
--enable-debug
--enable-werror

Build and execution environment:
$ uname -a
Linux cougar-natty 2.6.38-15-generic #64-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 6 17:18:17 UTC
2012 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
$ gcc --version
gcc (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-8ubuntu4) 4.5.2

For comparison, LibreOffice supplied with ubuntu-natty (LibreOffice
3.3.4, OOO330m19 (Build:401)) has used 100% of the CPU for several
minutes without producing any visible result.

In the complete absence of any idea about what changed in the program,
I am setting bug status to RESOLVED WORKSFORME. Can other commenters,
especially those on other platforms, please confirm the lack of crash?

Terry.

[Bug 1051389] Re: Sync sope 1.3.16-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2012-09-16 Thread Jeroen Dekkers
The reason they don't show up with nm is that SOGo and SOPE are written
in Objective-C. Objective-C has dynamic binding and methods are looked
up at runtime, so things work a bit different than with C/C++. If you
look at the nm output, you will only see symbols for the classes.
Methods don't have symbols at all. That's also the reason the libsope1
dependency doesn't have the correct version: it isn't possible for dpkg-
shlibdeps to figure that out. This means I have to specify the library
dependencies by hand and I will do so with the next upload.

[Bug 410432]

2012-09-16 Thread Vivek-ap
Created attachment 73953
New crash information added by DrKonqi

digikam (2.8.0) on KDE Platform 4.9.00 release 559 using Qt 4.8.2

- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Alt+Tab works when dragging files and switching directly to Dolphin, but
crashes Digikam when I first switch to another program (that is, pick
up file, Alt+Tab to Firefox, then Alt+Tab again to Dolphin, and drop
file). Expected behaviour: start dialog to Move/Copy/Link.

[Bug 885525]

2012-09-16 Thread David Lechner
I have a proposed solution to this. I would like some feedback before I
attempt a patch.

As WADA mentioned in Comment 32, the reason for the restriction on
choosing the Trash folder for a GMail account is that TB is using XLIST
to get the trash folder. Whenever TB starts up, the value from the XLIST
writes over any user specified value.

There are a couple of ways to work around this:

#1 Patch Thunderbird (aka the hard way)
---
We could add a 4th option to Account Settings... Account Server Settings
 When I delete a message:

Current options are:
- Move it to this folder (which is ignored is server supports XLIST)
- Just mark it as deleted (setting recommended by google)
- Remove it immediate

New option would be:
- Use server specified folder

The new option would be selected by default for servers that support XLIST and
be disabled for servers that do not support XLIST. Functionally it would work
the same as Move it to this folder does now.
If the server supports XLIST and Move it to this folder is selected, then the
value returned by XLIST will be ignored and the user specified folder will be
used.

This could be a good thing for other IMAP users (not just GMAil) that
want to bypass a server specified Trash folder.

#2 Use an extension (aka the easy way, aka the shameless plug)
--
There is an extension (that I wrote) for using Thunderbird with GMail -
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/gmailbuttons/

As I was fixing a problem that was introduced in TB 16 that broke my
extension, I came across this bug. It turns out that in fixing the other
problem, I have created a work-around for this bug. Note that currently,
this only applies to TB 16 and v0.5.0 of the extension (both currently
in beta).

If you select the trash folder you want in Server Settings Move it to
this folder and click OK, then open the settings again and select Just
mark it as deleted, then the Gmail Buttons extension will remember
your selection and use that folder for its Trash button.

[Bug 1051520] [NEW] virtualbox-dkms 4.1.2-dfsg-1ubuntu1: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2012-09-16 Thread bluefrog

I got the following error message when upgrading:
INFO: rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks when, after having partially
completed an upgrade from 11.04 server to 12.04 server version, the upgrade
process required a restart to complete the upgrade.
I simply switched off the PC server, which has a software raid 5 configuration.
It rebooted sucessfully (thankfully as I had GRUB problems with previous
versions and had to perform a complete rebuild once before )-; ).
I then went to update manager to check for updates and a message appeared
informing me that there were errors related to Virtual Box.

[Bug 1051227] Re: image viewer crashes ubuntu on viewing fullscreen jpg

2012-09-16 Thread Peter Johnson
The problem would appear to be size related. The original problem applies to a
selection of photos all sized 4000 x 3000 px (filesize 5M - typical example
attached). I used GIMP to scale the size.
-- 3000 px wide (2.6M) caused no problem and the app behaved as expected,
-- 3500px wide (3.3M) caused the app to freeze once (and I was able to kill the
app only) and it loaded OK another time
-- 3750 px wide (3.6M) froze the whole PC and required a manual shutdown

It does not appear to be camera related: I look a new photo this morning
on a lower setting (3264 px wide filesize 3M) and the app behaved as
expected.

Today's manifestions have been different from the last few days:
-- 4 times it logged me out (so a simple login was all that was required)
-- once it restarted the PC
-- 4 times it froze the PC (last screen was frozen, no ability to do anything,
no pointer movement)
-- twice it gave a me a static command line screen (not the rolling ones I got
yesterday and previous days)
I cannot find any correlation between the apps I had open prior to launching
image viewer (if any) and the reaction when I open a large image.
Thanks for your support!

I am not sure if this is a bug or it purely allows you to enable the
repo's you require.

If you are going to ltsp-build-client --copy-sourceslist remember --apt-
keys aswell (point to trustedgpg)

Patch to allow for connection watching without the cacheable flag

Basically if you require a network, and you don't report yourself as
cacheable, then GeoclueMaster isn't watching the connection status so
you'll never get to a connected state in a reasonable way. This makes
sources that want to check and update over time using the network as
basically unusable.

[Bug 979697] Re: Modeswitching modem not working with NEC Corporation uPD720200 USB 3.0 Host Controller

2012-09-16 Thread Wessel Dankers
I have the same issue on an Asus UX21A (should be very similar to
Cristophes UX31A). These laptops have Intel Panther Point USB
controllers. So I doubt whether the problem is restricted to NEC
uPD720200 controllers.

Xorg log file

I am running Kubuntu 12.04, and after upgrading to the packages in the
xorg-edgers PPA, some OpenGL elements are no longer rendered correctly. Among
the package upgrades were:
 . xserver: 1.11.4 - 1.12.1+git20120502+server-1.12-branch.ed33772a
 . xserver-xorg-video-intel: 2.19.0 (x-updates PPA) -
2.19.0+git20120501.7e09babb

The rendering bug can be seen with GLX-dock. I have attached a
comparison screenshot where you can see the dock reflections are
incorrect. and the icon below the one with focus disappears.

Anton, do you have a source for your statement? That may help people
identify the right changeset and maybe backport it to 3.5.
