[Bug 1060900] Re: HTTP proxy config being created in /etc/apt/apt.conf on nodes
Ahh, if it is d-i doing it directly, so be it. The reason it should be separated out into a .d entry is basically, splitting out into .d entries are generally more manageable than using a main config file, especially if you want to undo this functionality change. (Remove the .d file rather than grepping through apt.conf trying to remove that line without blowing away other potential functionality in there.) In our specific case, we don't want the running node to be using MAAS's local squid-deb-proxy setup, due to needing to add non-standard apt sources as part of a deployed Juju charm, and having a local archive mirror anyway. Ideally it would be best to have an option to not use a proxy server in MAAS (and there are bugs open asking for this), but failing that, I've added code to our charm to disable the apt proxy as one of the first steps of the charm, before the other apt sources are added. That is how I found the conf option is being put directly in /etc/apt/apt.conf, rather than an apt.conf.d file. ** Changed in: maas (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1060900 Title: HTTP proxy config being created in /etc/apt/apt.conf on nodes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/+bug/1060900/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

If so, could you please provide the information following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend ? As well, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. Steps to reproduce: 1. start a guest session 2. allow the computer to suspend after timeout 3. resume the computer from suspend 4. a password prompt prevents guest (or any) user from resuming session As it stands, the user must press switch user at #4 above to go back to the login screen and may then re-enter the guest session from there. If the way that a guest session works is that it creates a temporary random password every time, that password should automatically be entered at step 4 above so the user never sees the password prompt, OR the guest session should always be created with require my password when waking from suspend unchecked. OR, computer should resume at login screen indicating that a guest user is already logged in (automatically run switch user command before suspend or after resume)? Re: [Bug 1068862] Re: upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10 on a sans-pae CPU leaves kernel broken
Christopher, i understand the issues and am making the emotional adjustment. i was aware of the PAE thing HOWEVER i COULD have installed xubuntu 12.04 without any knowledge of PAE and arrived in xubuntu 12.10 as i have without even trying. IF i were such a naive user i'd be out on a limb, surprised and possibly disappointed. actually though i'm not stranded and have plenty of choice. certainly by the end of the 12.04 cycle this hardware will seem quite ancient. a test (for PAE support) in Software Updater prior to advertising a version update could have been done. yes i know hindsight is 20/20 BUT let's face it MANY if not MOST ubuntu installs are done to upCycle ex Windows boxes - old hardware is a BIG part of the scene. thanks for your efforts. [Bug 1034108] Re: Lubuntu, won't take system password, always prompts for keyring
Confirming that this still happens on Lubuntu 12.10. Ubuntu One insists on storing its information in keyring 'default', which then needs to be unlocked separately after login. There is an entry on this in the Ubuntu One FAQ ( https://one.ubuntu.com/help/faq/how-do-i-get-rid-of-the- keyring-password-prompt/ ), but it doesn't apply here - I am not using auto-login, and the keyring password is the same as the login one. tm-o's solution above does not work either: there's no 'Details' button on the password dialog. And the 'Passwords and Keys' program (run 'seahorse' from terminal) offers no option to unlock on login either, as far as I can see. I already tried deleting the default keyring (result: U1 stops working), reinstalling U1 (result: default keyring is created again), but to no avail: every time I log in, the 'unlock keyring' dialog is awaiting me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1034108 Title: Lubuntu, won't take system password, always prompts for keyring To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntuone-client/+bug/1034108/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

However, the driver on 64 bit should be blacklisted, the driver does not work and will hang on probing. A patch to fix the hang has been posted to next/stable. I have got the driver running on 64 bit with unsecured connections but there is still a nasty deadlock on with wpa supplicant. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162671 Title: VT6656 wireless chipset is unsupported To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/162671/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Unless AMD's website, or an AMD representative notes how a card is or is not supported, the information you are quoting is, at best, conjecture. Despite this, because this is a development bug report, not a discussion forum, and you are not the original reporter, please refrain from further commenting in this report. [Bug 1068144] Re: Libreoffice Impress opens with no menus
A little update... while I actually got a menu to appear, it didn't seem to actually do anything. For example, going to Data - Sort (in Calc), didn't open the sorting dialogue. This seems like a pretty grave bug.
