[Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
3.2.0-32-generic 64 bit. Fresh 12.04 install about 5 days ago due to11.04 support expiring. I started getting freezes yesterday in Gnome Classic with and without effects. Hard reboot has been the way to get out of it. This along with several other issues makes me regret the decision to upgrade. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. [Bug 1067876] Re: Missing Safely Remove Drive Option from Context-Menu
Original reporter should use the proper terms for the Unity desktop components involved. There's no Unity-Task-Bar -- it's called the Launcher. And the pop-up that appears when right-clicking on a Launcher icon is called a Quicklist, not a context menu. For general Unity terminology, see: http://askubuntu.com/questions/10228/whats-the-right- terminology-for-unitys-ui-elements/19166#19166 Anyhow, under 12.04 and earlier my Patriot USB memory stick also had the Safely Remove Quicklist entry, but in 12.10 there's only Eject which doesn't perform a sync operation before telling me the device has been ejected. Ejecting (i.e. unmounting) without syncing can corrupt the filesystem if a write operation has been recently performed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1067876 Title: Missing Safely Remove Drive Option from Context-Menu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/1067876/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1077449] [NEW] Modem doesn't work in 12.04 3.2.0-32-generic (#51-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 26 21:33:09 UTC 2012)
Public bug reported: Minicom and Efax-gtk will not work. Both appear to iniatialize, but no further function, no response to modem commands given, etc. I'm NOT trying to connect to an ISP right now, I just want to use it with eFax- GTK. This exact same modem and computer worked together very well until recently. There had been several updates, including Ubuntu before it just quit working. This modem works fine in Windoze, SAME machine, just switched to Ubuntu 12.04 drive by mechanical switch. I can go back and forth, always works in Windoze, never in Ubuntu. Modem will attempt to answer an incoming call, but can't be sure about function since I don't have another modem to call with. I have come to the conclusion that there is very likely a problem within the updated Ubuntu that prevents proper modem communication. [Bug 1077417] Re: Intel Cedarview graphics drivers don't have PAE support
** Description changed: - On an Asus 1025C with Intel N2600 and GMA500 and a default PAE 3.2.32 + On an Asus 1025C with Intel N2600 and GMA500 and a default PAE 3.2.0.32 kernel (installed 4 GB RAM), the basic driver drm driver for Intel GMA500 installs after 5 minutes and a crashed display (then reboot). Shifting tty's shows the graphics are just corrupted after installation from enabling them on the fly. After a reboot there is 2D support and unity performs slowly (YouTube and etc is choppy). Afterwards, installing the Intel Cedarview graphics driver requires a reboot and afterwards xorg crashes and I'm dropped to the console. Installing the generic image and headers and adding an entry for this kernel in 40_custom (grub) allows xorg to work with full support for both drivers. The bug report that appeared on successful boot however, shows the generic non-PAE kernel image as a REQUIREMENT for cedarview-drm. I haven't investigated further into the driver itself to see if it does not support PAE kernels but once again, as far as the bug report the dependencies specify the generic non-PAE as a requirement. If this can be fixed, I can upgrade my netbook to 8 GB RAM, and many other cases that have abandonded Windows for Ubuntu can enjoy an Ubuntu fully supported on their GMA500-based computers with support for 2GB RAM, unless their mobo/bios enables 64-bit (bah humbug). [Bug 1059037] Re: suspend/resume does not work
As it seemed quite strange that I had gone so backwards in the kernels and suspension still did not work, I tried to change my PC's power supply, with another power supply and with this other power supply my PC suspends correctly. If I put back on the original power supply the problem comes back and my PC does not suspend any more but just switches off. So I definitly think that it was a hardware problem. I think this bug should be marked as invalid. Thank you for your help anyway and sorry for the inconvenience. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1059037 Title: suspend/resume does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1059037/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1077490] [NEW] Input method in Skype on amd64 after 12.04 breaks
Public bug reported: Skype 4.0.0.8 is 32bit qt application. Input method should be done with qt-immodule, ibus-qt and arbitrary ibus input method engine. It works well with 32bit(i386) environment but there is a issue in 64bit, amd64 environment. ibus-qt4 is not multi-arch supported. There cannot co-exist libibus-qt1 :amd64, i386. so I cannot install libibus-qt1:i386. It make Skype cannot connect with ibus input method engine in amd64 environment. In 12.04, dependent icu48 also don't support multi-arch, but it support m-a in 12.10. An attachment is a patch for ibut-qt4 to suport m-a and co-installable i386/amd64 libraries. I can use input-method in Skype 4.0.0.8 on amd64 environment with this patch and libicu48:i386/amd64 from 12.10. ** Affects: ibus-qt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: m-a support of ibus-qt4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1077490/+attachment/3429922/+files/ibus-qt-multiarch-2.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1077490 Title: Input method in Skype on amd64 after 12.04 breaks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus-qt/+bug/1077490/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is fixed in libwnck 2.31.0. Note that xfce4-panel would have to be rebuilt after the upgrade.
