[Bug 1110139] Re: Broadcom BCM4313 wireless card driver not working

2013-02-01 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.8 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1112695] [NEW] Hybrid Intel/AMD has low graphics mode when using discrete GPU

2013-02-01 Thread Christopher Townsend
Public bug reported:

I've been trying to get hybrid graphics working on my Dell Inspirion 15R
and I get the low graphics mode when starting up. This is on Raring.

I have tried fglrx fglrx-updates from the restricted archive, AMD
sources, and the fglrx-updates found in ppa:andrikos/ppa and all fail
the way. The X server seg faults every time (see attached Xorg log). I
have also tried the workaround at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI#WORKAROUND. I
even downgraded the xserver-xorg-video-intel package to the one found in
ppa:andrikos/ppa.

I will also add the info from apport-collect to this bug.

[Bug 1111690] Re: [SRU] walinuxagent IsPackaged() logic is broken, runs two instances of waagent

2013-02-01 Thread David Medberry
ACK: I've tested upgrades from walinuxagent_1.2-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb
I've tested upgrades from walinuxagent_1.3-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb

I've tested the actual package itself. Looks like a good fix. (Still no
way to reproduce original issue the SRU fixes as reported by Microsoft
but I've seen no degradation of any azure instances so nothing has
regressed.)

[Bug 1111547] Re: screenblank.sh script shuts down disrupts wireless connection

2013-02-01 Thread Steve Langasek
Thanks for following up. I don't think we can reasonably claim this is
a bug in acpi-support, then. If you've remapped your keyboard, it's
possible that whichever key you mapped to XF86MonBrightnessDown is also
a hotkey and the hardware was handling this event directly.

I' ve this issue since kernel 3.8.0-1 (at the moment the 3.8.0-0 allows
ethernet connection without any issue) :

if I plug in an ethernet cable, nothing appends (cable unplugged in
network manager Gnome applet). If I put on instead of auto in the
  file :

  /sys/devices/pci:00/number of ethernet pci port/power/control

then the ethernet connection begins immediately and succeeds.

Wifi works flawlessly in any 3.8 kernel.

I can confirm this problem with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-Bit

the wrong dates (-1 day of the real events).

[Bug 1112751] [NEW] DHCP over wireless stopped working

2013-02-01 Thread Havard Bjastad
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have a Dell Vostro 3700 notebook running Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS and a Netgear
FWG114P WLAN router which I bought 2005.
Since the update on Sunday 27. January 2013 the NetworkManager fails to connect
to my WLAN Router.

The Indicator applet shows all available wireless networks, but the
NetworkManager fails to establish the connection. Due to the fact that I
see the available networks I think the WLAN driver itself works fine. It
seems to be a DHCP problem, but I have no idead how to solve it.

If I boot from an Ubuntu 12.04 USB stick which I created about 1 year
ago WLAN works fine. Thus it's not a hardware problem.

Please could you give me some hints how to solve this problem.

Thanks Best regards,

Franz Hollerer

[Bug 1112773] [NEW] HP LJ 1010 doesn't print some images with default settings

2013-02-01 Thread Ivan Zakharyaschev
Public bug reported:

When printing the attached image on an HP LJ 1010 attached to Ubuntu
12.04 system, only a stripe of few cm at the top is printed.

At the same time, simpler things (like a random Wikipedia page) are
printed fine.

I simply plugged the USB cable from the printer into my Toshiba AC100
(ARM) with Ubuntu 12.04. It was configured automatically.

Here's the head of /etc/cups/ppd/hp-LaserJet-1010.ppd in my system
(Obviously, it's an hpcups driver. Perhaps, this problem is related to
the one described in https://bugzilla.altlinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28488
; there, after replacing the hpcups 3.12.10a driver with the hpijs
driver, this image could be ultimately printed; but with the hpcups
driver, there was a PCL InsufficientMemory error):

[Bug 1093850] Re: VLC plays choppy audio without proprietary ATI drivers

2013-02-01 Thread Damjan Aleksiev
You can find attached the VLC logs.
To produce these logs I have opened an avi video file (the sound worked
correctly after open) and than paused and hit play agin. All the warnings you
can see in the log are from the loss of audio afterwards.

[Bug 1072531] Re: [regression] X11 screen blanking after 10 minutes with no UI to change it

2013-02-01 Thread Doug Coleman
This is a real usability issue. I have a Mac Pro running two Ubuntu VMs
and I never want them to activate screensavers/sleep mode/locked screen
--the Mac Pro has its own power-saving features. The 12.04 VM works
correctly, but the 12.10 has no easy option to stop the screen from
turning black.

I found a fix here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/207131/screensaver-
blanking-problem

The accepted answer worked for me -- setting idle-dim-time to 0 is my
guess at what fixes things, but I also have the screensaver disabled
thanks to an answer below it.

Ideally the setting for this would be configurable through the System
Settings application so that people don't have to know about dconf.

Thanks!

2013-02-01 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in linux.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 940485] Re: No way to skip waiting up to 60 more seconds for network configuration

2013-02-01 Thread meiradarocha
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 950662 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/950662

I have a firewire netowork cable whit fixed IP in /etc/network/interfaces, and
have the same problem.
I do a workaround with this tip:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/185515/disable-network-configuration-
services-during-boot-time

A better ideea than disabling the service is to remove the sleep time.
To do this, open /etc/init/failsafe.conf with your favourite editor, and
around line 25 you should see the following lines of code:

# Plymouth errors should not stop the script because we *must* reach
# the end of this script to avoid letting the system spin forever
# waiting on it to start.
$PLYMOUTH message –text=”Waiting for network configuration…” || :
sleep 40
$PLYMOUTH message –text=”Waiting up to 60 more seconds for network
configuration…” || :
sleep 59
$PLYMOUTH message –text=”Booting system without full network configuration…” ||
:

To solve your problem, just comment the sleep times (add '#' in front of
the text). It should look like this:

# Plymouth errors should not stop the script because we *must* reach
# the end of this script to avoid letting the system spin forever
# waiting on it to start.
$PLYMOUTH message –text=”Waiting for network configuration…” || :
#sleep 40
