[Bug 1125443] [NEW] Development packages are ordered above Ubuntu base packages
Public bug reported: When development packages are installed, updates to them are shown individually at the top level, above Ubuntu base, when people are likely to care more about the latter. One solution would be to group development packages into a single group. Another would be to still show them individually, but sort them below Ubuntu base. [Bug 1125442] [NEW] Always Visible and On Top Windows Steal Focus on Workspace Switch
Public bug reported: 1. Open any application (e.g. TextEditor) 2. Right click the title bar 2a. Select Always on Visible Workspace 3. Right click the title bar 3a. Select Always on Top 4. Open a different application (e.g. Terminal) 5. Ensure that window has focus 6. Switch workspaces (Notice: the first application now has focus) 7. I'll try to reproduce on Quantal on my test machine, and report back. It may be that the problem has been fixed somewhere between Oneric and Quantal. Or it might be something in Gnome Shell I guess. Will take a few days. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/924531 Title: Could not switch the monitor configuration after undock To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/924531/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1113679] Re: Close session failed when burning 25gb blu-ray disc
Ubuntu doesn't seem interested in this bug (it's been around for a long time apparently) and I've noticed other people reporting the same bug. Nero Linux seems to have its own problems (can't seem to write dual layer DVDs and can't handle upper and lower case correctly for blu-ray using UDF (and Nero apparently has no intentions of fixing this or making any changes or improvements to the Linux version of Nero EVER - so why buy Nero Linux?) My work-around is to use xorriso using -as cdrecord argument. There is a simple example included in the man page that seems to work with any media. I've used xorriso to burn dual layer DVDs and 25 GB blu-ray UDF images. (Nero Linux, as mentioned above, does not handle UDF for unix/linux correctly - it complains if you have names that would be the same except for case.) xorriso burns the UDF image (which I create first using mkudffs as illustrated above) without any error or warning messages. And I have checked the discs and can't find any problems with them. I'm not sure why burning blu-ray discs is such a mystery on Ubuntu and Linux in general. It's difficult (if not impossible) to find clear, easy to understand examples on the web. If someone knows a good tutorial I would love to see it. I also don't understand why growisofs is not fixed. xorriso seems to be currently worked on. The only problem with using xorriso with -as cdrecord is that it seems to only accept cdrecord options and I haven't found a way to given a volume id to the disc. It always labels the disc as Linux UDF (which I can live with). xorriso has a -volid option but it doesn't work with -as cdrecord. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1113679 Title: Close session failed when burning 25gb blu-ray disc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dvd+rw-tools/+bug/1113679/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1125500] [NEW] Music lens shows album before track when searching track name
Public bug reported: (using Rhythmbox as default player) Searching music through the music lens works fine and shows my entire library, but it's showing albums before tracks when searching for track names. Example: Search Karma Police in music lens Expected outcome: Track Karma Police is shown in music lens and pressing Enter right from the search box plays the track Actual outcome: Album OK Computer is first result and individual song Karma Police second; pressing Enter without manually selecting the track causes Rhythmbox to play the entire album in the play queue This is illogical behavior because one can search the album name if they want the album. I don't mind the album coming up as a result; it should just show the track first so that individual tracks can be selected more quickly. [Bug 299361] Re: Preload doesn't start because state file has wrong entry.
I had the same problem. Reinstalling would fix it, but just for a day or two. I went through and wrote a script that seemed to work in restarting preload. This script checks for errors in the preload log, saves the state and log file as an backed up log, and then reinitiates the preload. Which seems to work. It fails maybe once a week, but once the state file is rebuilt, everything operates pretty smoothly. Put this script in /usr/local/bin, chmod +x it, and then add it to the startup applications, browse to the file and set it. The notify-send and logger commands, will display an image on the script running so you can check it, and the logger commands will drop it in the syslog for you. #!/bin/bash now=$(date +%m_%d_%Y_%H_%M) if grep 'invalid syntax\|duplicate index\|failed' /var/log/preload.log; then service preload stop cp /var/log/preload.log /var/log/preload.log.$now cp /var/lib/preload/preload.state /var/lib/preload/preload.state.$now rm /var/lib/preload/preload.state rm /var/log/preload.log touch /var/lib/preload/preload.state touch /var/log/preload.log service preload start logger -p local0.notice -t PRELOADCHECK There was a problem with preload, reset notify-send PRELOADCHECKER There was a problem with preload, it has been reset -i /usr/share/icons/gnome/256x256/status/error.png -t 5000; else logger -p local0.notice -t PRELOADCHECK Preload has started successfully notify-send PRELOADCHECKER Preload has started successfully -i /usr/share/icons/gnome/256x256/status/starred.png -t 5000 exit 0; fi -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/299361 Title: Preload doesn't start because state file has wrong entry. [Bug 1095117] Re: update-software-center-channels crashed with NameError in trigger_axi_update_and_wait(): global name 'GLib' is not defined
Error occurred after installing Steam deb file downloaded from Steam site. The deb was installing, Steam info dialog asked to Start it after which Steam started updating the client. Clicked close button on the info dialog and USC crashed. Clicked relaunch and it crashed again. Clicked relaunch and now didn't crash. 'Install' button still visible for the deb even though install seems successful, dpkg also says installed, no broken packages (sudo apt-get install -f). Running Raring, installed cleanly a few days ago. uname -a Linux wolverine 3.8.0-6-generic #11-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 11 16:02:49 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux software-center 5.5.4 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1095117 Title: update-software-center-channels crashed with NameError in trigger_axi_update_and_wait(): global name 'GLib' is not defined To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/1095117/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1051373] Re: Problems with opening an youtube movies
Hello! Thank you for answer. The bug i report still exists. I can not update my Ubuntu 8.04 for newer version because super-stable and I have no reason to change for newer. I do not like newer versions. They are too modern and has too many goodies. I use just Instant messenger, e-mail, FF, and lot of Ham Radio software. Ok thank you for your time! Bye Bye! Pawel Ostolski from Poland Walter Garcia-Fontes pisze: Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. [Bug 1125508] Re: wifi is off on boot up
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1125508/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
