[Bug 1186679] [NEW] Powernap Service won't start x86_64
Public bug reported: Hi Having happily used powernap with various version of 32bit Ubuntu I thought I'd try 64 bit Ubuntu. Unfortunately Powernap seems to be having problems. I've installed/reinstalled etc but the issue is still the same; no Powernap. After a cold boot the Powernap service isn't running. And when I manually try to start it it seems to start: rory@xxx:/etc/powernap$ sudo service powernap start powernap stop/pre-start, process 2700 But when I look the service has gone. There is no content created in powernap.log or powernap.err. Help please. ** Affects: powernap (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to powernap in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1186679 Title: Powernap Service won't start x86_64 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/powernap/+bug/1186679/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1173571] Re: please change wenquanyi micro hei back with 69-language-selector-zh-tw.conf
After my testing, the good news is that insatalling fonts-droid will provide better visual appearence and more readible than WQY zen-hei in Chinese charaters. However, 69-language-selector-zh-tw.conf has a weird UNACCEPTABLE side effect. It matches DejaVu Serif for sans-serif and monospace first. The result of 'fc-match -s serif' returns uming.ttc: AR PL UMing TW Light DejaVuSerif.ttf: DejaVu Serif Book DejaVuSerif-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Serif Bold DejaVuSans.ttf: DejaVu Sans Book DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Sans Bold uming.ttc: AR PL UMing HK Light Kinnari.ttf: Kinnari Medium wqy-zenhei.ttc: 文泉驛正黑 Regular [...] We can see that AR PL UMing TW is the first font for serif. It is not that good because we would like to see DejaVu Serif to present Western text more than AP PL UMing. The Western text gylphs come from AR PL UMing are not as good as those gylphs Western fonts provide. However, the result is acceptable. The result of 'fc-match -s sans-serif' returns DejaVuSerif.ttf: DejaVu Serif Book DejaVuSerif-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Serif Bold DejaVuSans.ttf: DejaVu Sans Book DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Sans Bold DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf: Droid Sans Fallback Regular wqy-zenhei.ttc: 文泉驛正黑 Regular uming.ttc: AR PL UMing TW Light uming.ttc: AR PL UMing HK Light [...] This is completly unacceptable because DejaVu Serif and DejaVu Serif Bold are not sans-serif style font. The result of 'fc-match -s monospace' returns DejaVuSerif.ttf: DejaVu Serif Book DejaVuSerif-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Serif Bold DejaVuSansMono.ttf: DejaVu Sans Mono Book DejaVuSansMono-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Sans Mono Bold DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf: Droid Sans Fallback Regular wqy-zenhei.ttc: 文泉驛等寬正黑 Regular uming.ttc: AR PL UMing TW Light uming.ttc: AR PL UMing HK Light n022003l.pfb: Nimbus Mono L Regular [...] This is completly unacceptable because DejaVu Serif and DejaVu Serif Bold are not monospace style font. After rm 69-language-selector-zh-tw.conf, The result of 'fc-match -s serif' returns uming.ttc: AR PL UMing TW Light DejaVuSerif.ttf: DejaVu Serif Book DejaVuSerif-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Serif Bold DejaVuSans.ttf: DejaVu Sans Book DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Sans Bold uming.ttc: AR PL UMing HK Light Kinnari.ttf: Kinnari Medium wqy-zenhei.ttc: 文泉驛正黑 Regular [...] The reslt is the same with haveing 69-language-selector-zh-tw.conf, so it implies that 69-lanaguage-selctor-zh-tw.conf does not paly a big role in this serif case. The result of 'fc-match -s sans-serif' returns DejaVuSans.ttf: DejaVu Sans Book DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Sans Bold wqy-zenhei.ttc: 文泉驛正黑 Regular n019003l.pfb: Nimbus Sans L Regular Waree.ttf: Waree Book ukai.ttc: AR PL UKai CN Book ukai.ttc: AR PL UKai HK Book uming.ttc: AR PL UMing CN Light [...] DejaVu Sans is sans-serif style font. The result is acceptable. The result of 'fc-match -s monospace' returns DejaVuSansMono.ttf: DejaVu Sans Mono Book DejaVuSansMono-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Sans Mono Bold wqy-zenhei.ttc: 文泉驛等寬正黑 Regular n022003l.pfb: Nimbus Mono L Regular [...] DejaVu Sans Mono is monospace style font. The result is acceptable. It seems that fontconfig will prepend a full font family of DejaVu Serif for 69-language-selector-zh-tw.conf. Thus I check this configuration in detail. I find that we prepend AR PL UMing TW as first font for serif. And in last section of this configuraton, we define that DejaVu Serif should bind to AR PL UMing TW. This section is also outdated too. The original idea behind this is to mimic the old ubuntu default font setting, but things have changed. I guess this might be the cause and give a test. If we remove the last section which binds DejaVu Serif with AR PL UMing, The result of 'fc-match -s serif' returns uming.ttc: AR PL UMing TW Light DejaVuSerif.ttf: DejaVu Serif Book DejaVuSerif-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Serif Bold DejaVuSans.ttf: DejaVu Sans Book DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Sans Bold uming.ttc: AR PL UMing HK Light Kinnari.ttf: Kinnari Medium wqy-zenhei.ttc: 文泉驛正黑 Regular [...] Well, still the same. 69-language-selector-zh-tw.conf seems to have no big effect for serif. The result of 'fc-match -s sans-serif' returns DejaVuSans.ttf: DejaVu Sans Book DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Sans Bold DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf: Droid Sans Fallback Regular wqy-zenhei.ttc: 文泉驛正黑 Regular uming.ttc: AR PL UMing TW Light uming.ttc: AR PL UMing HK Light [...] Good! DejaVu Serif and DejaVu Serif Bold are not prepended here. The result is acceptable. The result of 'fc-match -s monospace' returns DejaVuSansMono.ttf: DejaVu Sans Mono Book DejaVuSansMono-Bold.ttf: DejaVu Sans Mono Bold DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf: Droid Sans Fallback Regular wqy-zenhei.ttc: 文泉驛等寬正黑 Regular uming.ttc: AR PL UMing TW Light uming.ttc: AR PL UMing HK Light n022003l.pfb: Nimbus Mono L Regular [...] Good! DejaVu Serif and DejaVu Serif Bold are not prepended here. The result is acceptable. So, my suggestion to get a better visual reslut for Chinese (Traditional) users is that 0. make font-droid as the dependent package for zh-tw language

[Bug 930369] Re: apt-get update does not fix duplicat sources
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems And it says that running apt-get update will fix these problems, but it does not. [Bug 1186684] [NEW] Resolveconf generats invalid resolve.conf with commas in DNS entries
Public bug reported: I'm on Arch Linux, the latest version as of 2013 June 02. Resolveconf generates an invalid /etc/resolv.conf file with entries as follows: nameserver 123.123.123.123, nameserver 123.123.123.123 As you can see the commas are unnecessary, and it breaks pacman updating, although ping works. This is because the network config is okay, but pacman apparently uses the resolv.conf data and the commas confuse it. Please stop adding commas to the resolv.conf file since this breaks important features on Arch Linux. ** Affects: resolvconf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1186684 Title: Resolveconf generats invalid resolve.conf with commas in DNS entries To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resolvconf/+bug/1186684/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I saw the following in the release notes for version 319.17 of the NVIDIA driver (http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display- amd64-319.17-driver.html): * Added initial support for restoration of efifb consoles on UEFI systems where the primary display is driven over VGA or TMDS (e.g. DVI, HDMI, or LVDS). [Bug 1186692] [NEW] Missing dependency on libaio, unable to enable innodb_use_native_aio on 12.04,
Public bug reported: The default state for innodb_use_native_aio is enabled as per: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/innodb-parameters.html#sysvar_innodb_use_native_aio It was introduced in 5.5.4 I believe, and offers improved performance, and actual asynchronous writes. However, is seems innodb_use_native_aio is disabled by default in Ubuntu 12.04, and I am unable to enable it. I have this issue on 2 12.04 servers, neither of which seem to meet the requirements for it to be disabled by mysql on startup. It would appear it is enabled by default on Ubuntu 12.10 I initially asked this as a support question, but after looking into it, I think it is a bug. All of the Debian 5.5 packages I looked at list libaio as a dependency. 'ldd mysqld' does not list libaio. http://packages.debian.org/sid/mysql-server-core-5.5 (Wheezy, Jessie and Sid) libaio is additionally not listed as a dependency in the source packages. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/mysql-5.5 My current package version is for mysql-server is 5.5.31-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 Is it possibly just because the builds are being done on machines which lack libaio? [Bug 1186702] [NEW] WebDAV: LibreOffice does not handle vnd.sun.star.webdav protocol out-of-the-box
Public bug reported: Libreoffice is able to open documents located on a WebDAV server if provided with an URL starting with the vnd.sun.star.webdav protocol. (for instance: vnd.sun.star.webdav://example.com/webdav/my-document.odt ) Unfortunately, after installing Libreoffice on Ubuntu these URL aren't still handled correctly. Whether you click on a link in your browser or you try to open the URL from the command line with xdg-open vnd.sun.star.webdav://... you get a message saying that this protocol is unknown. What I expected was that LibreOffice would start and would open the document. A workaround is to create a Desktop file with the following informations: [Desktop Entry] Name=WebDav LibreOffice Exec=/usr/bin/libreoffice %u Type=Application Terminal=false Categories=System; MimeType=x-scheme-handler/vnd.sun.star.webdav; and then to copy it in /usr/share/applications Afterwards you have to run sudo update-desktop-database so that Ubuntu will take the new protocol into account. A more definitive solution would be to modify the libreoffice-base Desktop file that comes with libreoffice (also located in /usr/share/applications) to add the MimeType properties described above. Hi swests, yes looks like that the hold package nfs-common has caused this problem. For improving purposes: Have you done manual steps with aptitude to resolve this problem? Could you give a description of your doing? May be it is possible to teach ubuntu-release-upgrader to do this automatically in futhur. ** Summary changed: - Upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10 and then tried to upgrade to 13.03 + Upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04 failed on package nfs-common ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1179301 Title: Upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04 failed on package nfs-common To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1179301/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
