Hi Serge,

Thanks for that.

Please find attached my VM complete xml configuration file (virsh

Could you tell me which network device type you are using?

It looks like I should set up a precise host on which to test.

 Title:
Windows 7 VM freeze on Ubuntu 12.04 KVM

Status in “qemu-kvm” package in Ubuntu:
   Confirmed

 Bug description:
   Hi,

I recently started using KVM over VirtualBox for my Office needs. I
setup a Windows 7 VM on KVM and started using it through remote
   desktop.

What happens is that, after some hours of usage, the remote desktop
connection freezes. I thought it was a remmina bug, as the it was
enough to kill and restart it to successfully connect again to the VM.

However, today I've switched to a different RDP client (2X Client
chromium app) and the freeze just happened again!

   Some information:
   - the host and the VM are completely idle when the freeze occurs
   - I've tried sniffing the network packets toward the RDP port during the
freeze and found that the client is sending packets but no packet is sent
 back

Could this be a KVM issue? How can I further debug this one (I expect
 the freeze to happen again...)?

2013-06-13 Thread Robie Basak
@Shane

Could you please confirm the patch that you're using on memory.rb, and
confirm that this fixes the problem for you?

I've also been seeing 'puppet apply' hanging via cron, but never figured
out if this was the issue or if this patch fixed it. I've been working
around it with a timeout.

If we can get some confidence in the fix, I'll put this forward as an
SRU in Precise.

[Bug 504368] Re: sdl window intermittently scales instead of resizing

2013-06-13 Thread Lekensteyn
Scaling can be triggered by:

- Pressing ctrl-alt-{minus,plus} (on certain keyboard layouts)
- a SDL_VIDEORESIZE event

SDL_VIDEORESIZE is always sent on an X ConfigureNotify event when a
SDL_VideoSurface is active. (SDL_VideoSurface is NULL if a resize was
done in SDL_SetVideoMode).

So it really must be a window manager or something sending this resize
event. What WM are you using?

Notes, SDL_VIDEORESIZE (and other events) may be eaten:
- in the very early start-up stage[1] (causing the issue mentioned in comment
13)
- during switches to and from fullscreen
- (some other paths that do not affect QEMU)

[Bug 504368] Re: sdl window intermittently scales instead of resizing

2013-06-13 Thread Jamin W. Collins
Window manager varies. In the original report it was openbox (as I
believe I stated, in comment #7). Current window manager is xfwm4. For
the screenshot provided, I intentionally moved the window with
Alt+left_click as I knew this would trigger the issue (also indicated in
comment #7). However, as stated before, the issue happens seemingly
randomly on its own without moving the window or interacting with it in
any way.

Can you apply the attached debug patch, reproduce your bug (move with

[Bug 1190791] [NEW] cinder's rbd backend driver now uses python library

2013-06-13 Thread Adam Gandelman
Public bug reported:

The rbd cinder driver now uses the rbd and rados python libraries
instead of shelling out to the rbd CLI tools. As a consequence, the
driver fails on startup if the python-ceph package is not installed.

[Bug 968112] Re: Emerald (the original Compiz Window Decorator) not available in Precise, Quantal, Raring and Saucy, while it was working on all Ubuntu versions before [needs-packaging]

2013-06-13 Thread MC Return
@Phillip:
The instructions on how to compile/build Emerald are posted in the bug
description, but I will repost them again:

git clone git://anongit.compiz.org/fusion/decorators/emerald
cd emerald
git checkout -b compiz++ origin/compiz++
./autogen.sh
export LIBS=-ldl -lm ./configure
make

To install:
sudo make install

** Summary changed:

- Emerald (the original Compiz Window Decorator) not available in Precise and
Quantal, while it was working on all Ubuntu versions before [needs-packaging]
+ Emerald (the original Compiz Window Decorator) not available in Precise,
Quantal, Raring and Saucy, while it was working on all Ubuntu versions before
[needs-packaging]

** Changed in: emerald (Ubuntu)
   Status: Invalid = Confirmed

** Description changed:

I hope Emerald does not get forgotten and someone can fix this, because
it is still by far the best window decorator available, coupled with a
great theme manager and possibilities for the power user to adjust
window decorations in both looks and functionality.

For example the window decoration can be individualized and upgraded by
adding buttons to make windows Sticky/Unsticky Shade/Unshade Roll-
Up/Down or by adding glow, changing fonts and adjusting
  shadows/transparency and colors.

All of those functionality and the great look with transparency and glow
cannot be matched by any other available window decorator out there, so
this is a big regression on Precise and Quantal for many users, who used
to use it on Ubuntu before.

Also it was designed to accomplish Compiz and Compiz without Emerald is
not Compiz anymore, while the combination Compiz/Emerald/Unity was
- really great in the past and still is (with 2 minor bugs, which still
- need to be fixed).
+ really great in the past and still is.

Here a few links showing the undaunted popularity of Emerald:

  http://www.webupd8.org/2012/01/install-emerald-in-ubuntu-1110-oneiric.html

http://www.linux-geek.co.nz/2011/06/04/how-to-change-ubuntus-window-borders-with-emerald/
+ http://www.webupd8.org/2013/05/how-to-install-emerald-in-ubuntu-1304.html

Fetching the source and compiling works, when done this way:

  git clone git://anongit.compiz.org/fusion/decorators/emerald
  cd emerald
  git checkout -b compiz++ origin/compiz++
  ./autogen.sh
  export LIBS=-ldl -lm ./configure
  make

Please package this great window decorator for Precise, Quantal and
  future versions of Ubuntu.

[Bug 1190465] Re: Include a fix for webkit bug #111979

The patch doesn't apply on top of either qtwebkit 5.0.1 or qtwebkit

[Bug 729979] Re: [nvidia] Windows appear blank white

2013-06-13 Thread hansvschoot
I also suffered from this bug, but managed to solve it by manually fixing all
the libGL.so symlinks in /usr/lib (and lib32) to point to the libGL.so in the
nvidia-current subdirectory.
After this, I re-installed nvidia-current using: sudo apt-get install
--reinstall nvidia-current
You can check your own libGL.so symlinks using: ls -l `find /usr | grep
libGL.so`

[Bug 1190356] Re: Can't connect to Ubuntu One

2013-06-13 Thread Mauro Franzoni
Same problem for me since a few weeks... I tried all the
cleanup/restart/reinstall instruction found in other bugs/problem reports with
no success so far.
I'm syncing fine from home (12.04) and android app browses files happily...
nope, instead, from the office server still running 10.04 (on AMD64)...

Isn't it that the 10.04 client is no longer supported (and working) by
the cloud server?

I am planning an upgrade the to newest LTS available... yet it is a
production server and I can't take the hassle to upgrade as long as the
production quit for summer vacation... (and then 12.04 sounds so much
heavier on cpu than 10.04... but this is another matter).

[Bug 1190485] [NEW] libreoffice crash to zombie when saving to samba

2013-06-13 Thread taj
Public bug reported:

Reproduce: open a file via thunar from a samba drive, change it and save it.
Reproduced in writer an calc, other libreoffice programs not tested.
This happens in libreoffice-core 4.0.2 (official ubuntu release) and 4.0.3 (ppa
)
Libreoffice stops resonding. The process does not stop when command is given to
end the process.
The network drive is mounted via gvfs.
This problem was reported to be solved in 4.0.2-RC2

Still open after ending the process:
soffice.bin
oosplash

oosplash can be killed. killing the soffice.bin process ends up with zombie.
Then only logout helps (fortunately reboot is not needed).

[Bug 1190487] [NEW] package libgl1-mesa-dri 9.1.1-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite shared '/etc/drirc', which is different from other instances of package libgl1-mesa-dri:i386

2013-06-13 Thread James Matarrese
Public bug reported:

This particular happening of the problem arose on its own, but I see a
similar message every time I try to launch Steam. I get a Terminal
window that says I need to install the above package. I enter my
password and hit Enter, but the installation ends up failing, causing
another few error windows to pop up, then Steam launches and runs as
normal. Was not going to submit a bug report until the issue arose
without the involvement of Steam.

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04. GPU is an AMD Radeon HD 6850, using the open
source drivers.

[Bug 1190485] Re: libreoffice crash to zombie when saving to samba

2013-06-13 Thread taj
** Description changed:

+ == NB edit: this is for package libreoffice-core, not xserver-xorg-
+ video-intel. I thought that I filed the report against that libreoffice-
+ core. I cannot move it. ==
+
Reproduce: open a file via thunar from a samba drive, change it and save it.
Reproduced in writer an calc, other libreoffice programs not tested.
This happens in libreoffice-core 4.0.2 (official ubuntu release) and 4.0.3
(ppa )
Libreoffice stops resonding. The process does not stop when command is given
to end the process.

[Bug 1006765] Re: Hot plugging USB3.0 express card Not possible

2013-06-13 Thread Roland
@ Christopher

Tested it with
 3.8.13-03081302-generic #201306071405 SMP x86_64
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash pciehp_force=1 pciehp_poll_mode=1
Lenovo T520

This kernel works partly !

After booting the system with card inserted and/or inserting the Card
after it, the mouse response is extremely slow, after testing some
times, this response problem is gone.

It works when card is inserted together with the USB device,
It works not when done seperately, see logging below:
(Tested this multiple times, always the same result)

2013-06-13 Thread Robie Basak
@Shane

[Bug 1103018] Re: line6usb - POD Studio UX2 Playback problem. Very robotic and slightly slower than usual

2013-06-13 Thread Danny Werner
Thank you Joseph Salisbury,
for helping us getting our nice sound back :-)

lp1103018 has the bug:

$ uname -a
Linux Yolin 3.7.0-030700-generic #201306121250 SMP Wed Jun 12 16:52:03 UTC 2013
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

In System Settings.Hardware.Multimedia.Phonon, testing 'UX2 Analog
Stereo' still sounds like running through a ring modulator, and testing
' Built-in Audio Analog Stereo' sounds ok (a little low on volume, but
not distorted).

If there is is anything else I can do to help narrowing this down, please let
me know.

[Bug 1093401]

2013-06-13 Thread Jmadero-dev
Thank you for reporting this issue! I have been able to confirm the issue on:
Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+Build ID: b0a1666f756aa5f5315366eca9d7d02ddd55d2b
Date: Tue May 28 08:51:01 2013 +0300
Platform: Bodhi Linux 2.2 x64

Nevermind -found some labels - indeed confirmed

Marking as:

New
Major - in general I wouldn't say this but it essentially makes the print to
labels useless - I would be surprised if it's not a duplicate somewhere
High - default, seems appropriate

As a temporary workaround I was able to install a .deb from the Debian
repos which apparently installs the .ko files and the updated userspace
binaries. It throws no errors when running but its behavior is not
correct (probably best left for another bug report)

[Bug 701505] Re: Problem with Adobe Reader update: Unable to find the HTML rendering library

2013-06-13 Thread Klaus Fischer
Hi,

I really wonder why a bug and I would call it a bug (now matter what
shankao tries people to talk into). What I am useing is kubuntu 13.04
and this stupid error message and the icon persist. All comments in this
thread which are not about reporting this issue are basically useless.
Sorry to say.

Linux is a great system but some software perfomrs poorly on it. Adobe
acrobat reader is a remarably bad example for this. It is more annoying
features than the icon which users complain about in this thread. Maybe
it is a wise idea to just throw acroread in to trash.

Best,

Klaus Fischer

[Bug 1190500] [NEW] Xorg shutdown shortly after unsuspend

2013-06-13 Thread bluemonki
Public bug reported:

Every night I suspend my laptop, every morning it unsuspends
successfully. A little while after being up and running (10 minutes
perhaps) the X server shuts down and dumps me at a boot console showing
me what things started up when I booted.

Lightdm is still running but X is dead. The Xorg log file appears to be
acting as if it was asked to shutdown

[Bug 1190504] [NEW] kate doesn't set an initial preference

2013-06-13 Thread Harald Sitter
Public bug reported:

kate packaging contains
debian/patches/kubuntu_kate_initial_preference.patch to set the initial
preference (which would force it to take priority on all mimtypes
associated with, such as preventing libreoffice/calligra from opening
.txt files).

BUT

on 2012-12-05 (r99) Riddell dropped debian/patches/series so it is not
applied and has not been applied for half a year effectively making all
of raring pre-releases, final and saucy snapshots open .txt files by
default with libreoffice or calligra words. i.e. since neither LO nor C
define an initial preference any of the three may be picked as deafult
choice for .txt
