I'm in 13.10 (Saucy) with the latest version packaged: 3.8 with this problem.
The package: eclipse-globalmenu fix my problem.
Why there are only 3.8 packaged and in the page you get the 4.3 ???

[Bug 1022231] Re: O2Micro card reader doesn't work properly

2013-07-20 Thread madbiologist
There have been some memory stick support enhancements and fixes in
recent kernels, so you might want to retest on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring
Ringtail, which is based on the 3.8 kernel. Also just committed to the
upstream 3.11 kernel is the following commit which will probably be
included in 3.11-rc2:

author Maxim Levitsky 2013-07-18
committer Stephen Rothwell 2013-07-18
commit 1014d1afb46ee5603866afb5fec4e830910a (patch)
tree a4e04569a04fe98de6b360bef7cb6683f76057fa

memstick: add support for legacy memorysticks

Based partially on MS standard spec quotes from Alex Dubov.

As any code that works with user data this driver isn't recommended to
use to write cards that contain valuable data.

It tries its best though to avoid data corruption and possible damage to
the card.

Tested on MS DUO 64 MB card on Ricoh R592 card reader.

Signed-off-by: Maxim Levitsky
Cc: Valdis Kletnieks
Cc: Jens Axboe
Cc: Alex Dubov
Cc: Tejun Heo
Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton

Also, from reading through the code, This driver works with old (bulky)
MemoryStick and MemoryStick Duo but not PRO.

How to fix this on older versions:
Become root and edit /usr/sbin/ddclient. Look for require Digest::SHA1 and
replace it with require Digest::SHA. Then look for import Digest::SHA1 a few

Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 12.04. I am having problems with crashes and I keep
getting a message with the title: Nautilus crashed with signal 7.

I haven't been able to use updater for a while now,and the error report
confirms that there are obsolete packages installed.

I cannot open files and folders, nor upload images.

Internet works ok.

The terminal also keeps crashing...

A package that seems to be a problem is nautilus 1:3.4.2-0ubuntu8

[Bug 896922] Re: Lenovo L520 - psmouse.c: touchpad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync and stops working for seconds

2013-07-20 Thread rooobertek
This bug is killing me long long years... I had the same problem with R61e, now
I have thinkpad L520. If I remember correctly, this bug is there miminally
since 8.04 or 7.10 (maybe 7.04?) when I began to use ubuntu.
It's absolutely irritating and frustrating to have mouse freezed sometimes 3
times per 10 minutes. I am lucky I am using much more keyboard than mouse
(trackpoint, touchpad). Otherwise could be ubuntu absolutely useless for me.
Today was this bug upgraded. In attached dmesg it's last row:
psmouse serio5: Failed to enable mouse on synaptics-pt/serio0.
Cursor completely disappeared. I can not imagine, what would do beginner user...

2013-07-20 Thread rooobertek
Today was this bug upgraded on my L520. See last row in attached dmesg. Cursor
completely disappeared until reboot.
It's horrible to have mouse freezed many times a hour... Since I started to
write this message, it happened two times.

[Bug 1203235] Re: [H87N-WIFI, Realtek ALC892, Green Line Out, Rear] Underruns, dropouts or crackling sound

2013-07-20 Thread Brian Ahr
That's interesting. This is a brand-new computer build - new motherboard
and case. I get the same problem if I connect the cable to the
connectors that are directly on the motherboard, and also if I plug it
into the headphone jack that is built into the case. Interestingly
though, this exact setup (same cable, same sound file) works flawlessly
with my macbook air.

Not a problem with the ubuntu/debian package, the producer of the
package you downloaded should set correct Conflicts/Replaces for his
package. For user support, open a question on launchpad or
askubuntu.com. This is not a bug in Ubuntu, closing as invalid.

[Bug 1203283] [NEW] Online accounts SIP settings looks like it doesn't work

2013-07-20 Thread Phill
Public bug reported:

When adding a SIP account to online accounts, the settings area is blank
for over a minute then the settings appear - but you can hit the
cancel/done button and there's no indication in the UI that it's busy .
It just looks like it doesn't work unless you persivere and wait for a
while. After adding an account it seems to ignore when the use this
account to call landlines and mobile phone, clicking Done and going
back in (it's quick this time) and the tick is missing (this is the
dispay wrong values bit. Completely quit (gnome-control-centre) and go
back in to look and it's ticked (after waiting ages for the settings to
appear).

[Bug 1203286] [NEW] [HP Probook 4510s] System fan not working correctly after suspend

2013-07-20 Thread Davide Depau
Public bug reported:

I noticed that since Natty or Oneiric (I don't remember precisely) I have a
strange behaviour: after resuming the PC from suspend, the fan starts rotating
too fast, even if the PC is not hot. When I first had the problem, I could
solve it by (dis)connecting the power cable. In latest versions of Ubuntu,
maybe since Precise, this workaround doesn't work anymore.
I have the mainline kernel downloaded from here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.11-rc1-saucy/

I attached some logs, I don't know what else I can provide to help
troubleshooting this bug.

I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 amd64.

[Bug 1203204] Re: [Acer Extensa 5635ZG] suspend/resume failure

2013-07-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
al2003, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in the
mainline kernels archive directory daily folder, but the one all the way at the
bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel
version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel,
please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc1

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why
specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags:
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 1203300] [NEW] Can no longer mount (cifs)

2013-07-20 Thread Ken Sharp
Public bug reported:

I have no idea what is going on now but following a recent dist-upgrade
(yesterday) my computer refused to boot.

I commented out all the non-essential stuff in my fstab to try and work
out why:

# sudo mount -av
mount.cifs kernel mount options:
ip=192.168.0.5,unc=\\192.168.0.5\winetricks,guest,sec=none,noperm,uid=0,gid=50,ver=1,user=,pass=
Unable to find suitable address.
mount.cifs kernel mount options:
ip=192.168.0.5,unc=\\192.168.0.5\wine,guest,sec=none,noperm,uid=0,gid=50,ver=1,user=,pass=
Unable to find suitable address.

Jul 20 14:11:33 aspire kernel: [ 2619.660374] CIFS VFS: Error connecting to
socket. Aborting operation
Jul 20 14:11:33 aspire kernel: [ 2619.660585] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed

Jul 20 14:11:39 aspire kernel: [ 2625.660338] CIFS VFS: Error connecting to
socket. Aborting operation
Jul 20 14:11:39 aspire kernel: [ 2625.660551] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed
w/return code = -113

I went back to the previous kernel to see if that was the cause but it
made no difference. Not even sure if this is the correct package to
report it against!

I can still use gvfs to access the mounts but that's not ideal.

[Bug 1169614] Re: /etc/init.d/umountroot: mount: / is busy due to dhclient is not stopped

2013-07-20 Thread M4he
I'm using raring and also having the issue of shutdown/restart hanging
for a short time due to mount: / is busy.

I made a script that executes ps -Af on shutdown/reboot and writes it to a
log file. (see attachment)
There's a long line containing /sbin/dhclient; I presume that indicates
dhclient being the root cause?

[Bug 1163147] Re: Please run dnsmasq in such a way that it can also be used on the host — to look up the VMs' names

2013-07-20 Thread Thomas Hood
1. Note that my instructions in comment #12 are partly superseded by my
comments in #16. I think you understood that. To make it clear for other
readers I will repeat the instructions below.

2. In comment #16 I wrote

Also you will have to do
 echo nameserver 127.0.3.1 | resolvconf -a lo.dnsmasq-libvirt
 and
 resolvconf -d lo.dnsmasq-libvirt

without saying *when* these commands need to be run. You understood what
I meant, but to make it clear for others: one has to do

echo nameserver 127.0.3.1 | resolvconf -a lo.dnsmasq-libvirt

after dnsmasq-libvirt has started and

resolvconf -d lo.dnsmasq-libvirt

before stopping it.

3. Your etc-init-lxc-net.conf starts dnsmasq with incorrect options.
You need to be careful with how bind-interfaces, interface and
listen-address options are used. You do the following

--bind-interfaces --listen-address=10.0.3.1 --interface=lxcbr0
--interface=127.0.3.1

3.1. You presumably meant the following.

--bind-interfaces --listen-address=10.0.3.1 --interface=lxcbr0
--listen-address=127.0.3.1

The argument of --interface= must be the name of an interface, not an
IP address; the --interface=127.0.3.1 will cause dnsmasq to fail to
start. On my machine, dnsmasq 2.65-1ubuntu1 with --interface=127.0.3.1
prints unknown interface 127.0.3.1.

3.2. In bind-interfaces mode dnsmasq binds all and only the addresses on
interfaces that it is configured to listen on. By default it listens on
all interfaces that are present when it starts, but when you give an
interface option, dnsmasq listens only that interface plus interface
lo. You can add listen addresses by giving additional interface and
listen-address options. So if you give --listen-address=10.0.3.1
--interface=lxcbr0 --listen-address=127.0.3.1 then dnsmasq will listen
on 10.0.3.1, 127.0.3.1, 127.0.0.1 plus the address of lxcbr0.

What you want is for it to listen on the virtual-machine-facing
address(es) and on 127.0.3.1 but not on 127.0.0.1. Assuming that the
virtual-machine-facing addresses are 10.0.3.1 and the address of lxcbr0,
the options should be:

 --bind-interfaces --listen-address=10.0.3.1 --interface=lxcbr0
--except-interface=lo --listen-address=127.0.3.1

3.3. (We would be better off using bind-dynamic than bind-interfaces
so that dnsmasq-libvirt continues to listen on the correct addresses
when interfaces go up and down and have their addresses changed.
However, my testing seems to indicate that you can't use bind-dynamic
along with listen-address. That's a bug, I think, which I will report,
but until it's fixed we can't use bind-interfaces along with listen-
address, alas.)

4. Now create the script /etc/resolvconf/update.d/dnsmasq-libvirt (not
.../dnsmasq which will conflict with the script installed by the dnsmasq
package). The script you posted (etc-resolvconf-update.d-resolvconf) is
good for that except that one line has to be changed. The line

RSLVCNFFILES=$(/lib/resolvconf/list-records | sed -e
'/^lo.dnsmasq$/d')

must be

RSLVCNFFILES=$(/lib/resolvconf/list-records | sed -e '/^lo.dnsmasq-
libvirt$/d')

to reflect the fact that we are going to use the record name dnsmasq-
libvirt. To be ready for resolvconf 1.74 it should be

RSLVCNFFILES=$(/lib/resolvconf/list-records --after lo.dnsmasq-
libvirt | sed -e '/^lo.dnsmasq-libvirt$/d')

so please use this.

5. Currently the Upstart job file starts dnsmasq in the pre-start
script. You should actually use an exec clause to start dnsmasq so
that Upstart can monitor it. This means that you need to create a
separate dnsmasq-libvirt job file with triggers that look something like
the following.

start on starting lxc-net
stop on stopping lxc-net

The Upstart Cookbook

http://upstart.ubuntu.com/cookbook

recommends that the daemon be execed in foreground mode. So instead
of running dnsmasq in a pre-start script, add an exec stanza.

exec dnsmasq --keep-in-foreground ...other...options...

Then put the following

echo nameserver 127.0.3.1 | resolvconf -a lo.dnsmasq-libvirt

in a post-start script stanza and

resolvconf -d lo.dnsmasq-libvirt

in a pre-stop script stanza.

Warning: I haven't tested this.

6. After all this is done, when lxc is started it should start dnsmasq-
libvirt which registers one of its listen addresses 127.0.3.1 with
resolvconf which calls its update scripts which writes the addresses of
external nameservers to /var/run/dnsmasq-libvirt/resolv.conf and writes
127.0.3.1 to /etc/resolv.conf so that resolving on the host goes through
dnsmasq-libvirt and dnsmasq-libvirt forwards queries that it can't
answer itself to the external nameservers.

7. To simplify things we could omit 127.0.3.1 and just register one of
the virtual-machine-facing addresses with resolvconf. Edit the Upstart
job file to start dnsmasq with

 --bind-interfaces --listen-address=10.0.3.1 --interface=lxcbr0
--except-interface=lo

and in the post-start do

echo nameserver 10.0.3.1 | resolvconf -a

[Bug 1149056] Re: No linux-backports-modules-cw-precise for 3.5 kernel

2013-07-20 Thread Das Auge
Thank you, @fabiomarconi, for the hint with the link. I am not sure, if
I understood well the steps indicated, but I give it a try:

[Impact]
I agree to pilot 6: The package should be made aviable for 12.04. Since I
upgraded from 3.2 to 3.5 the microphone is not working anymore (so: no skype).
Thats a major regression that must not happen in an LTS .

[Test Case]
When i have installed 3.2 (with backports) and 3.5 Kernel (without backports),
the Mic always works with 3.2 and never with 3.5.

[Regression Potential]
none, I think

[Step 4: Ask someone in the Ubuntu bug control team to nominate the bug for the
appropriate Ubuntu release(s)/series]
Fabio, since you are member of the bug control team, I ask YOU to nominate the
bug for the Ubuntu 12.04 release. Thank you very much!

[Bug 1201906] Re: [Acer AOA150] suspend/resume failure

2013-07-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
fabrizio columbano, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. As per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an update is
available for your BIOS (3310). If you update to this, does it change
anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.
