[Bug 1205713] Re: unable to type Greek characters to the dash
Ok, i checked some more things: My locale settings is el_GR.UTF-8. I dont have a problem with the translation visibility, Unity and the Dash are translated in Greek and everything appears as it should, in Greek. I tried to use the OnBoard screen keyboard to input some greek characters, but summoning the Dash seems to close the OnBoard application (is that a feature or a bug?), so i could not test this. I also tried to type some ASCII-extended characters (eg the ϕ character) using the keyboard, but that was also not possible. On the other side, copying some text containing greek characters pasteing it to the Dash search field works. Characters appear as they normally should, and search also works (eg. if i copy a filename with greek characters and paste it to the Dash, the Dash finds it). Should i add those additional information to the original description? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1205713 Title: unable to type Greek characters to the dash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1205713/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Still getting some weird errors for input, but that's another bug ^_^. @sheridan: There's a PPA here that has the old fglrx drivers... be sure to heed his warning about Unity though as I did have a bit of issues getting unity running on my laptop after installing it: https://launchpad.net/~makson96/+archive/fglrx -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1195425 Title: Corrupted screen using radeon drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mir/+bug/1195425/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1048805] Re: xfrun4 launches very slowly
It happened again. The last note in my previous comment was wrong; there _is_ an appfinder instance running: $ ps -Tg 4030 PID SPID TTY TIME CMD 4030 4030 ?00:00:00 xfce4-appfinder 4030 4031 ?00:00:00 gdbus 4030 4032 ?00:00:00 xfce4-appfinder Like before, DBus has another PID (4029) for the owner of org.xfce.Appfinder, which is probably the case because of daemonization. Attached to it with gdb. (gdb) info threads Id Target Id Frame 3Thread 0x7faf4897d700 (LWP 4031) gdbus 0x7faf5c8c83cd in poll () from /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 2Thread 0x7faf43fff700 (LWP 4032) xfce4-appfinder 0x7faf5cbb182c in __lll_lock_wait () from /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 * 1Thread 0x7faf5f0189c0 (LWP 4030) xfce4-appfinder 0x7faf5cbb182c in __lll_lock_wait () from /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 Two normal threads, and one gdbus thread. The two first threads are waiting on a lock (or a condition?). The gdbus thread, which is currently polling for an event, would have to be the one to awaken at least one of these threads. That's reasonable -- no reason to do stuff until an event comes in. I set a breakpoint on the next instruction in poll (after the syscall returns). It appears it doesn't recieve any events; starting another appfinder instance doesn't cause any breaks in the gdb-attached process. Hm. Looks like I may have to learn some DBus. :) Installed d-feet, tried to look at the org.xfce.Appfinder bus. It shows nothing for a while, then pops up an error message saying org.xfce.Appfinder : Timeout was reached. I guess that rules out any problem in the client code (well, maybe it could be made more robust by trying to check for this condition first, but it shouldn't be needed). At this point, I wasn't sure what to do next, so I figured I'd kill the running appfinder daemon and see what happens. Well, the next start was fine. It daemonized successfully, too. And all following starts worked fine as well. So at least the problem isn't persistent in the dbus-daemon. It could still be a dbus problem, of course, but it seems unlikely. So, what causes the appfinder service to stop responding? I still have no idea. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1048805 Title: xfrun4 launches very slowly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-appfinder/+bug/1048805/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1172852] Re: USB keyboard and mouse don't work
I also confirm the solution given by Nikolai. Installing the linux-image-extra-3.8.0.26-generic pachage solved the USB port problem. Hopefully my update proces description may help in further debugging. Laptop: IBM Thinkpad T42 with Kubuntu 12.04. Distribution upgrade through Muon package manager to 12.10. No problem. Distribution upgrade to 13.04 failed because I had to install the Fake-PAE patch because this old laptop has a Pentium-M processor. [Bug 1205810] [NEW] cups printing an offset
Public bug reported: I am using an up to date Gentoo Lynux system, but got here using the link from www.cups.org to report Bugs in Linux. I have discovered what I think is a bug in net-print/cups-1.6.2-r5 All printing has an X offset of -3mm and a Y offset of -20mm My printer is a Lexmark X543 network printer. Previewing printing is normal in for instance LibreOffice or a PDF in Evince. but when printed to the Lexmark printer there is the offset. Same offset when printing a test page. I downgraded to version net-print/cups-1.6.3-r2 with the same result. I then downgraded to version 1.5.3 which uninstalls net-print/cups- filters-1.0.34-r1 and app-text/qpdf-4.1.0:0/10 and printing is back to normal. ** Affects: cups-filters (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: cups lexmark offset -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1205810 Title: cups printing an offset To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-filters/+bug/1205810/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1205816] [NEW] Linux software raid + usb3 storage + heavy disk activity = recipe for disaster in raring?
Public bug reported: Hi, I have a system with a Nec PCI USB 3 adapter (Renesas Technology Corp. uPD720201 USB 3.0 Host Controller) with a Lindy USB3 disk case for 2 disks attached to it (JMicron Technology Corp. chipset) and two 1TB disks inside. The Lindy disk case is configured to show the 2 disk units (in windows it supports fake raid to with proper dip-switch configuration). Linux is configured to see the two disks as a software raid 1 unit. LVM is set up on top of the raid. Ext4 partitions are created in LVM. Apparently things work just fine. However, if I have heavy disk activity (e.g. copy a large iso file to the raid storage), there are very frequent issues. In the worst case the machine freezes (flashing leds) trashing all the last data written on the raid storage. When the machine comes up the raid starts resync which is a painful activity. No visible oops, nothing in syslog. In the best case, the array simply looses sync. Even when things work fine, the disks in the array make clunky noise that does not seem proper. Also tried with a VIA USB3 controller and with the motherboard integrated USB2 controllers. With USB2 things are much slowlier, but the result is invariably the same. [Bug 1205633] Re: Xorg stalls out the whole system when surfing with firefox
Hi Dave, one possible way to trigger this behaviour is to visit the web page http://urfin.soup.io/post/328152007/Hans-Peter-Uhl-Fordert-zu-jeder- Gelegenheit with Firefox 22.0. I guess something on this webpage makes Firefox trigger the problem. Opening only the main image on that page http://0.asset.soup.io/asset/4713/1040_f146_500.png with Firefox does not cause any problems. Also I found out that visiting http://urfin.soup.io/post/328152007/Hans-Peter-Uhl-Fordert-zu-jeder- Gelegenheit with 28.0.1500.71 Ubuntu 13.04 (28.0.1500.71-0ubuntu1.13.04.1) shows the same behaviour plus Chromium after some time shows a He's dead Jim page. [Bug 1160177] Re: guake starts with abnormal indentation
Thanks, uploaded. As this seems to affect just about every user of guake on Raring, I think an SRU is justified. Since the fix is cherry-picked from upstream, we know that Debian will get the fix eventually. But you could still file a bug in Debian if you feel it is appropriate. Since this introduces a new delta in Ubuntu for this package, and we know that Debian will fix the problem eventually, please keep an eye on any updates from Debian and request a package sync (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SyncRequestProcess) so that we don't fall behind future updates. You can speed this up by filing a bug in Debian ;) ** Changed in: guake (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = In Progress ** Changed in: guake (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Robie Basak (racb) ** Also affects: guake (Ubuntu Raring) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: guake (Ubuntu Raring) Status: New = In Progress ** Changed in: guake (Ubuntu Raring) Assignee: (unassigned) = Robie Basak (racb) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1160177 Title: guake starts with abnormal indentation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/guake/+bug/1160177/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
