[Bug 1210859] Re: kernel panic when restarting containers

2013-08-12 Thread Christer Solskogen
apport information

** Description changed:

With 3.8.0-28-generic stopping a container (at least if there under a
minute or so it was started) will crash the kernel.

  To repeat
Make sure you have that kernel (release kernel works fine) - its in the
raring-proposed.
Create a container (with ubuntu template)
  Start it
  Stop it

Sometimes it will stop the container, but the kernel will crash if you start
the container again.

[Bug 1134103] Re: [SRU] log flooded with cannot get STP status on nonexistent port messages

2013-08-12 Thread James Dingwall
@James Page

We moved our platform to 13.04 for other reasons and we stopped seeing
this issue due to a newer ovs release. I will try to find a system with
12.04 to test the proposed fix but I may not be able to do this
immediately.

[Bug 1210859] Re: kernel panic when restarting containers

2013-08-12 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Christer Solskogen, thank you for providing the crash log. Could you please
test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder,
but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel,
please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is
fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc4

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why
specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags:
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

As per the comment in config.install.armhf.template, SAY is not
implemented in the uboot on highbank. However, there is a SAY command
in config.local.template and that breaks booting of a deployed node.
Removing the SAY command makes it work.

MAAS.

[Bug 1211447] [NEW] MAAS default timezone is not UTC

2013-08-12 Thread Andres Rodriguez
Public bug reported:

MAAS sets the default timezone for provisioned nodes to:

$ cat /etc/timezone
America/New_York

This is probably because of:

d-i debian-installer/locale string en_US.UTF-8

...in /usr/share/maas/preseeds/preseed_master. It would be a far better
idea to set this to UTC, adding:

d-i time/zone string Etc/UTC

...to this preseed file.

Version affected: 12.04 LTS / maas / precise-updates / 1.2+bzr1373+dfsg-
0ubuntu1~12.04.1.

How reproducible is the problem? / Steps to Reproduce:

 * Install MAAS
 * Deploy some nodes with MAAS.

[Impact]
Allows MAAS to set the deployed systems to UTC timezone by default.

[Test Case]
1. Install MAAS
2. Deploy a system.

[Regression Potential]
Minimal. This only changes the timezone of the node when deployed.

[Bug 84782] Re: slow samba transfer speed to/from windows machines

2013-08-12 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
cyd, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder,
but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel,
please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is
fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc5

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why
specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags:
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

@Matthias:
A sync of apper and listaller would be sufficient? I don't see any Ubuntu
specific changes.

What kind of internal API do you mean? I use the GPK tools daily on my
Debian box with aptdaemon.

I uploaded an updated packagekit and aptdaemon package to
ppa:packagekit/0.8

@Colin:

I will wait until you have updated your click package plugin before
uploading to Ubuntu.

Installed python-apport to run apport-collect, and needed my lauchpad

[Bug 1210859] Re: kernel panic when restarting containers

2013-08-12 Thread Christer Solskogen
apport information

** Description changed:

With 3.8.0-28-generic stopping a container (at least if there under a
minute or so it was started) will crash the kernel.

  To repeat
Make sure you have that kernel (release kernel works fine) - its in the
raring-proposed.
Create a container (with ubuntu template)
  Start it
  Stop it

Sometimes it will stop the container, but the kernel will crash if you start
the container again.

[Bug 1210575] Re: Right-click emulation of Onboard does not work

2013-08-12 Thread marmuta
Thanks for the logs. No right click at all, but apart from that I don't
notice anything unusual. I believe Onboard's passive grab is successful,
but then for some reason press events don't seem to arrive in the event
filter.

Let's try something else first. The new click mapping for bug #1191098
is ready for a test. Middle and right click work very differently now,
there's a new chance they will do something on your touch-screen.

Francesco will update the snapshot repository, but you can build from source
too. For example:
sudo apt-get build-dep onboard
bzr branch lp:onboard
cd onboard
debuild binary
./onboard

If you're happy with the result, install with
sudo dpkg -i ../onboard*.deb

[Bug 1211178] [NEW] I'm a novice--attempted to run true ubiquity to fix a boot/ubuntu can't see win 7 problem-true ubiquity was unable to load grub to any device

2013-08-12 Thread pat ricks
Public bug reported:

Have no idea if this is a bug or not. Before running true ubiquity, I ran
os-prober and got this:
(short form) sda1: win 7(loader) windows:chain
sda2: win 7(loader) windows 1: chain
   sdd5: ubuntu 13.04(13.04) ubuntu: linux
then ran WINOSDATA=true os-prober and got this:
sda2: win 7(loader) windows 1: chain
sdd5--same as above

13.04 is actually installed on my external drive but when I attempt to
boot to ubuntu I get what appears to be a dos prompt with some wording
about grubfordos. When I installed 13.04 to the external disc there was
no partition(s) seen(only sda) at the point where I set up my partitions
on the external hdd(I used the something else option).

When running true ubiquity first error was unable to install in sda I then
chose sdd, then sdd1--neither worked. i then chose continue without a
bootloader and THAT caused the installer to crash.
My most recent paste info BEFORE I tried true ubiquity was
//paste.ubuntu.com/5974385.

thanks,
Pat Ricks

[Bug 1207169] Re: Please merge packagekit 0.8.10-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-08-12 Thread Matthias Klumpp
GPK, Apper and Listaller can all be synced, I think (if there are no
Ubuntu-specific changes - for GPK, the Ubuntu packages were a sync from Debian
experimental, so merging the new packages from unstable will work (transition
is included)).
Listaller uses PackageKit's internal interfaces through a plugin, which only
works with PK (it basically installs a thin layer in front of the native
backend to catch Listaller packages). Aptd would need a rewritten Listaller
plugin, which does not exist.
GPK and Apper should work with aptd (if the system DBus API is complete).
Thanks for the merge-work!
Cheers,
Matthias

[Bug 1211184] [NEW] lucene++ 3.0.4-0ubuntu2 needs releasing

2013-08-12 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Public bug reported:

We prepared a new release of lucene++. This release fixes a few
packaging issues noted by Didier Roche during the preliminary review. We
added proper multi-arch support.

Also, this version is very important because of bug LP: #1207584. This
release fixes the issue, as we are now building with
-DENABLE_STANDARD_ALLOCATOR:BOOL=ON. Without this release lucene++ is
not as useful as it should be.

Packaging branch: lp:lucene++/ubuntu
(https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-unity/lucene++/ubuntu)
Test package: ppa:sil2100/testing - 3.0.4-0ubuntu2~test1

[Bug 388064] Re: the chess game hang and the oppenent does not move for a long time

2013-08-12 Thread rado
I guess the problem might be that the chess is taking too long time to
make its move, probably because timing is set to infinite.

Re: [Bug 1207169] Re: Please merge packagekit 0.8.10-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-08-12 Thread Sebastian Heinlein
Am 2013-08-12 08:54, schrieb Matthias Klumpp:
GPK, Apper and Listaller can all be synced, I think (if there are no
Ubuntu-specific changes - for GPK, the Ubuntu packages were a sync
from Debian experimental, so merging the new packages from unstable
 will work (transition is included)).
Listaller uses PackageKit's internal interfaces through a plugin,
which only works with PK (it basically installs a thin layer in front
of the native backend to catch Listaller packages). Aptd would need a
rewritten Listaller plugin, which does not exist.
GPK and Apper should work with aptd (if the system DBus API is
 complete).
 Thanks for the merge-work!
 Cheers,
 Matthias

I prepared a merge for GPK, too. Unfortunately my upload to the ppa
contains a typo (yelp-utils instead yelp-tools).

gnome-packagekit (3.8.2-4ubuntu1) saucy; urgency=low

   * Merge from Debian Unstable. Remaining changes:
 + Drop obsolete python-packagekit-gtk package
+ Drop build dependency on obsoleted gtk-doc-utils and
libapt-pkg-dev
+ Replace build dependecy on gnome-doc-utils by yelp-tools
+ Raise version of the libglib2.0-dev build dependency
+ Alternatively depend on aptdaemon's PackageKit compatibility layer

So we would just sync Listaller from Debian. It is ok if it depends on
packagekit. It is not the purpose of aptdaemon to provide a complete
replacement for PackageKit. We just want to use the normal client
libraries.

Cheers!

[Bug 1006988] Re: ivview application does not start

2013-08-12 Thread Graham Inggs

+ - patches/add-required-libs.patch: Link with -lXm before -lXt. (LP: #1006988)
+ - patches/buildsystem.patch: Use xdg-open as PDF viewer. (LP: #1208162)
+ - patch/configurability.patch: Fix opening About page in revo. (Upstream
revision 46200)
+
+ [IMPACT]
+ Attempting to run any of the programs listed below fails with the following
error:
+
+ Warning: XmManager ClassInitialize: XmeTraitSet failed
+ Error: attempt to add non-widget child DropSiteManager to parent ivview

+
+ In package inventor-clients:

+ /usr/lib/inventor/textomatic
+
+ Additionally, all of the above programs are hard-coded to use xpdf for
+ displaying their help pages (LP: #1208162). Xpdf would not be installed
+ on a typical desktop as libinvenotr's recommends in Ubuntu were on xpdf
+ | pdf-viewer, which would be satisfied by the desktop's default PDF
+ viewer even though it would never be used. If xpdf is installed, it is

[Bug 1211123] Re: Xorg i915 hangcheck hung GPU after workspace switch

2013-08-12 Thread Chris Wilson
That's not actually the relevant error-state, but an earlier non-fatal
one. If you look in dmesg you can see when that first error-state is
generated prior to the hang and clear it with echo
/sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state and then attach the error for
the fatal hang.

[Bug 1134103] Re: [SRU] log flooded with cannot get STP status on nonexistent port messages

2013-08-12 Thread James Dingwall
@James Page

We moved our platform to 13.04 for other reasons and we stopped seeing
this issue due to a newer ovs release. I will try to find a system with
12.04 to test the proposed fix but I may not be able to do this
immediately.
