[Bug 939300] Re: Update Apache to 2.4

2013-08-27 Thread Christoph_vW
I would like to see this patch included as well:
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=49559

This would allow for better Forward Secrecy Support without having a
weak key exchange.

[Bug 1067888] [NEW] Https verification + usage + support

2013-08-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Currently we have limited https verification and support.

The inbuilt urllib2 will try to use it, but no verification occurs (and
there isn't an easy way to specify a incoming certfile to use).

The boto library we are calling for metadata also needs to have the same
params/support to use it (this seems to be solved).

Some ideas:

- just the url_helper file + boto that this might affect
- https://github.com/boto/boto/commit/ad0f4aa82a8f30522b0ce3e40e40f145080bf955
- https://github.com/boto/boto/blob/develop/boto/https_connection.py might be
something we can 'borrow'/use
- https://github.com/boto/boto/blob/develop/boto/connection.py might in general
be useful to use directly as well

I did the last upload - looks like 'bzr merge-upstream' merged alot more
that I thought it did.

mongodb.upstart is the one of a number of files that got merged in from
the upstream tarball; I'll tidy those up as well.

[Bug 584668] Re: iscsi_trgt: scsi_cmnd_start(1035) Unsupported 85

2013-08-27 Thread Emmanuel Kasper
After reading
http://utcc.utoronto.ca/~cks/space/blog/linux/IETUnsupportedMessage, I
think this warning is harmless.

The ICSI initiator sends an ATA PASS THROUGH command to the server, the
server does not know what to do with and that's it.

According to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/open-
iscsi/PbKHnapEqCQ/5icFrw1fZQsJ it might be that smartd is sending this
command.

[Bug 1181777] Re: kvm: freeze a guest with a NIC PCI passthrough

2013-08-27 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for testing. That's a shame. I had hoped the new driver for
your card would fix it. I'll try some more testing to see if this is a
more general problem that I can somehow reproduce.

James is a sysadmin at a company and is interested in getting his charms
into the store for convenience/peer review. He's got some internal stuff
that he can keep seperate, but he doesn't want to maintain boring
  infrastructure charms on his own.

Kirk is deploying a charm but finds that it's missing a feature or needs
a bugfix and he thinks he knows how to fix it.

Robert is a developer at a company who works on a database that is
charmed up, he notices that the charm needs improvement to follow his
project's recommended best practice, but isn't sure how to claim
  ownership of a charm.

Lars is used to github and is totally confused on how to get charms he's
  interested in.

Cliff submitted a fix to a charm two weeks ago and has no idea how to
get someone to get his fix in.

  [ASSUMPTIONS]

  - Mims/Castro want to mirror how OpenStack does reviews and code
contributions as well as their usage of LP Blueprints.

  [RISKS]

  - There's only so much simplification that can happen when it comes to
submitting code.
  - Poor response time leads people to believe that we don't want to help them.
  - Workflow ties into the store, so we need to be careful on how we simplify
this.

  [IN SCOPE]

  - Refining workflow for submission
  - Measuring contributor metrics and enforcing a fast response time.

  [OUT OF SCOPE]

  [USER ACCEPTANCE]

  [RELEASE NOTE/BLOG]

  - We've made it easier than ever to contribute to charms with a new
  submission workflow.

  [notes from cloudsprint 2013-05]

  Low hanging fruit
Docs! Big issue to getting new contributors
Instructional videos will be a big help to resolving “How do I get going” for
new people
“Contribute to this charm” on jujucharms.com

Better charm tools to help contributors (charm-helpers, charm-tools,
  charmsupport)

[Bug 1194940] Re: open-vm-dkms 2013.04.16-1098359-0ubuntu1: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build [control.c:211:4: error: implicit declaration of function ‘create_proc_entry’]

2013-08-27 Thread Alexey Borzenkov
For control.c it could be an easy fix, instead of create_proc_entry()
it's proc_create() now and there shouldn't be an assignment to proc_fops
(it's now a parameter to proc_create). An example of a compatibility
layer is here:

http://gerrit.openafs.org/#patch,sidebyside,9948,1,src/afs/LINUX/osi_compat.h

However, I just installed Saucy and it's Linux 3.11 now, with another
problem in vmhgfs/dir.c, because file_operations.readdir is now
file_operations.iterate with a serious change to the interface. :(

Only when I tried fixing it I realized how much stuff is failing:
dentry_operations.d_revalidate since 3.6, getname/putname since 3.7,
this would require more work than I anticipated... :(

This bug no longer affects me. Unfortunately, I can't say for sure what
happened meantime, but it seems that my xsane has problems in
recognizing the scanner if it is plugged into a usb hub. If I connect it
directly to a usb port of my computer, it seems to recognize it every
time.

[Bug 1175098] Re: x11vnc terminated due to buffer overflow

2013-08-27 Thread Ronald
I have not looked at the binaries closely... But,

That is probably a static bin with old library's. You will eventually
run into problems as well due to incompatibilities. Furthermore, those
versions of x11vnc could have been compiled with known vulnerability's
in it's statically linked library's.

[Bug 1215826] Re: Lost ability to remap Caps Lock to Ctrl

2013-08-27 Thread Dmitry
I cannot solve this issue by uninstalling indicator-keyboard.

I think, it is not the problem in indicator-keyboard, because there were
changes in keyboard settings menu. Earlier, i had many options -
http://xbb.uz/files/illustrations/soft/os/ubuntu/12.10-layout1.jpg
But now i have only 2 shortcuts - http://ctrlv.in/228499

And it is quite strange.

[Bug 1096989] Re: [10ec:8179] No wireless support for Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 (RTL8188EE)

@Anthony,

Confirmed this device is already working in Saucy (linux-
image-3.11.0-4-generic_3.11.0-4.9_amd64.deb, linux-
firmware_1.113_all.deb)

Can we skip the Precise and Quantal? Since it needs lots of backporting
and kernel-team might not accept a whole driver merging into stable
kernel.

[Bug 1209423] Re: [STAGING] 2.6.32-47 kernel update on 10.04 breaks software RAID at boot

2013-08-27 Thread A1an
@Stefan: --scan command might be useless but thanks anyway since it
helped me noticing the issue that make me solve it :)

Here is the output of the scan command and the relevant content of the config
file:
$ sudo mdadm --misc --scan --detail
ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid1 num-devices=2 metadata=01.02 name=alan-desktop:0
UUID=d5119bd2:7491e0f3:df5db333:6e036bee
ARRAY /dev/md3 level=raid1 num-devices=2 metadata=01.00 name=pca3:3
UUID=154f648b:6076c08b:76f5610a:9fbce7c7

$ cat /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf | grep ARRAY
ARRAY /dev/md/0 level=raid1 metadata=1.2 num-devices=2
UUID=d5119bd2:7491e0f3:df5db333:6e036bee name=pca3:1
ARRAY /dev/md/3 level=raid1 metadata=1.0 num-devices=2
UUID=154f648b:6076c08b:76f5610a:9fbce7c7 name=pca3:3

As you can see there is a mismatch in the configured and scanned names,
the latter coming from the array creation since long ago. Now, I have no
idea why they differ however changing the one in the config file to
match the scanned one made the array build up at boot again. Just
confirmed with 2.6.32-50-generic

So, to reproduce the issue its probably enough to change the array name into
mdadm.conf.
A last notice/recommendation: I do not understand why there is a need for array
information to be placed into a configuration file and even more why to rely so
much on it, such a config file will belong to a single system while arrays
would be used also in multi-boot environments or have to be read also from
recovery system used to boot a machine. I think relying on metadata on the
drives only to be a far better approach.

Thank you for helping in solving the issue and let me know if you need
more info for further development.

2013-08-27 Thread Ben
Well, I was able to get a patch that allows it to build, but it doesn't
scan for networks.

I don't know what would be required to fix this, but I think the patch
breaks it. Or something.

[Bug 1217221] [NEW] Separate sensitivity threshold for taps

2013-08-27 Thread HRJ
Public bug reported:

I am able to control the sensitivity settings using FingerHigh and
FingerLow.

However, these affect both touch and tap events.

What I would like is an ability to control the sensitivity for tap event
separately.

My use case is that I would like the the touchpad to be more sensitive
in general. But I would like the tap detection to be less sensitive as
it often registers spurious clicks.

[Bug 1217229] [NEW] Laggy Finally Completely Frozen 12.04.2 on Large cp or rsync

2013-08-27 Thread DiagonalArg
Public bug reported:

I have two pairs of raided disks. I am trying to copy 1/2 T of data
from one to the other. First I tried cp /from /to. It seemed to
behave ok, so I left it overnight. When I came back in the AM, the
machine was completely frozen. I had to use the power switch. Only
about 150GB had been copied. I tried again with nice -n 10 cp ... and
the same thing happened. Then I discovered ionice and shifted to rsync.
So I used ionize -n 7 rsync -cva /from /to. I also turned off the
sleep/lock for the display. Again it seemed to behave ok, so I left it
while I went for dinner. Two-three hours later, I found that all
windows were frozen. I couldn't use REISUB, the reset switch _or_ the
power switch. I had to power off using the switch on the power supply.
Rebooting, I found that about 300G had been copied by this point. I am
trying for the 4th time now, again using rsync. iotop is running. It
regularly freezes between rsync's copying one file and the next. If I
try to shift to a window or type at the terminal, there is a freeze
until the file being copied by rsync is finished. If I keep typing at
the terminal (or in the text-box in Firefox, as I am now) then things
become smooth until I stop for a bit. Then the freezing begins to
happen again. (That's not completely true. Tab completion at the
terminal is a disaster. Cut paste in this window is the same.) It
may be my fantasy, but it seems that if I keep using the machine,
getting it to respond to keyboard/mouse intput, then it doesn't
permanently freeze up. It's when I leave to it's own devices for some
time that I have a problem.

The only difference between the last try and the first 3, is that after
having a look at dmesg, I enabled IOMMU in the BIOS. Probably
irrelevant, but I did also notice the spurious 8259A interrupt: IRQ7
message in dmesg that has been reported in bug #75626.

I haven't changed anyting with the I/O scheduler, which has been
reported as causing I/O problems in bug# 427210 and #131094. So, it
still reads: noop [deadline] cfq

Tyan S3970 with 2 CPU's (8 cores).
Two pairs of WD drives (500G 2T)
TARO add-on storage card (used by the 2T drives)
Ubuntu 12.04.3 fully updated.
Essentially new install (During this process I only added iotop, atop, htop,
acpi, m5deep emacs)
500G drives are RAID-1; 2T drives are RAID-1 encrypted.

[Bug 1216947] Re: cron.daily/standard reports /tmp/lost+found missing

2013-08-27 Thread Robie Basak
Sorry, wrong changelog entry. The one I meant was:

  * debian/cron.default, debian/standard.daily, debian/rules: Remove
the lost+found check as this is no longer required and causes
issues with some filesystems (e.g. bind mounts, locally mounted USB
drives). Additionally, in some filesystems the directory
will be generated when required. (Closes: #620164, #658743, #662605,
#660879, #579640, #473711)

[Bug 1216947] Re: cron.daily/standard reports /tmp/lost+found missing

2013-08-27 Thread Robie Basak
cron 3.0pl1-123 has this changelog entry:

  * debian/standard.daily: Apply patch from Steve Allison to prevent checking
two times the same filesystem. This prevents bogus warnings about missing
lost+found in schroot bind mounts (Closes: #660879)

I'm also unable to find /etc/cron.daily/standard or any reference to
lost+found in /etc/cron.daily on Saucy, running 3.0pl1-124ubuntu2. So I
think this bug has been fixed since 12.04 by virtue of having had the
lost+found check removed already.

[Bug 1024590] Re: update-manager crashed with AttributeError in _on_download_changed(): 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_value'

2013-08-27 Thread Kenneth Wrede
13.10 Saucy 64-bit - Xubuntu

The update manager restarts and crashes over and over again on it's own
accord.

If it matters, I misstyped the password at my first try.

At the moment I DO use a custom stable kernel, 3.4.59. But I don't know
if it matters at this moment.

[Bug 1217230] [NEW] [Regression] Can't copy files from digital camera (Operation not supported by backend)

2013-08-27 Thread Jan Rathmann
Public bug reported:

Hello,

on Saucy I can't copy files from my digital camera to my PC anymore via
file manager. This is a serious regression since it worked on all
previous version of Ubuntu since Lucid at least (even earlier versions
not tested because I didn't own the camera at that time).

It is easy to reproduce:
- Start PC from USB stick with current Saucy daily live image
- Connect and turn on camera
- Open Nautilus, browse the files on the camera, select one of them and
right-click - copy
- Now when I try to paste the file into my home directory, I get an error
dialog saying copying failed with the reason Operation not supported by
backend (see attached screenshot)

I get the same error message if I try to copy the file on terminal with
the command gvfs-copy.

However, if I try to copy a file on terminal with the gphoto2 tool, e.g.
'gphoto2 --get-file 1', this works.

Kind regards,
Jan

Andrea, please be more careful with such broad statements. LP has the
option to reopen tickets for a reason. People are apparently still

said that he wants to look at the issue again after raring.

Reopening.
