Public bug reported: The libtcmalloc-minimal4 package installs libtcmalloc_minimal.so.4.1.0 and creates a symlink libtcmalloc_minimal.so.4 to it. [Bug 1218817] Re: [FFE] Update to Xen-4.3 in Saucy
Since I have not heard anything back from Citrix, I did an attempt of checking myself and found that even without any update to Xen the xen- api/xcp state is ... highly improvable. The command-line examples in the README.Debian of xcp-xapi more or less work (with the caveat that you have to leave network config to xcp and that fails to send the hostname with dhcp which then makes networking in a pain in the bum, but that is probably another story). A more grave problem is that the xen command (which is a wrapper that is supposed to automatically use the right xm/xl toolstack) in not handling xapi as a toolstack and seems to cause the xapi daemon to loose its mind (until restarting). And unfortunately the xendomains startup script uses xen list. Again that is broken right now without any updates. Openxenmanager is supposed to be a graphical frontend to control a host running the xapi stack but right now shows more python exceptions than anything else. Also without any changes to current Xen. That said with replacing xen to 4.3 and using the updated xen-api from my PPA I managed to get a PVM guest up. [Bug 977391] Re: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#8 stuck for 61s! [kvm:*] in lucid
Rahul, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest server release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://releases.ubuntu.com/raring/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc7 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: needs-kernel-logs needs-upstream-testing ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/977391 Title: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#8 stuck for 61s! [Bug 1218433] Re: Latest systemd updates break touchpad disable hotkey on Dell laptops
I discussed the problem with upstream, and attached hwdb.d keymap is now an actual fix instead of a workaround (for Samsung models, too). I tested it with udevadm hwdb --test, but if you want to test it on actual hardware again to make triple sure, I'd appreciate. Thanks! ** Attachment added: final hwdb file (V4) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1218433/+attachment/3798695/+files/60-keyboard.hwdb -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218433 Title: Latest systemd updates break touchpad disable hotkey on Dell laptops To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1218433/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1212481] Re: [FFE] CouchDB 1.4.0 needed to work with Erlang 16.b.1
** Description changed: - The current CouchDB 1.2.0 package in Saucy is broken and can't be - installed as it was built against Erlang 15.b.1, and can't be rebuilt - with the version now in Saucy, Erlang 16.b.1. + CouchDB 1.2.0 doesn't work at all with Erlang 16.b.1, so the current + CouchDB package in Saucy is completely broken and should be removed if + it can't be upgraded. - However, the soon to be released CouchDB 1.4.0 does work with Erlang - 16.b.1. So the options are to remove CouchDB 1.2.0 from the archive - before Saucy is released, or to upgrade to CouchDB 1.4.0. + To work with Erlang 16.b.1, we'll have to upgrade to the recently + released CouchDB 1.4.0. The needed compatibility fixes are extensive and + include upgrading CouchDB's internal mochiweb server, so backporting the + needed changes to CouchDB 1.2.0 isn't practical. - My vote is to upgrade to CouchDB 1.4.0, which should be released before - the Saucy feature freeze on August 29th (based on what was said at the - latest CouchDB developers IRC meeting). + Following is an overview of the testing I've done, results, and known + issues: - In preparation, I have a 1.4.0 pre-release git snapshot in the Novacut daily PPA ready for testing: - https://launchpad.net/~novacut/+archive/daily?field.series_filter=saucy + == Unit Tests == - The packaging for which is here: - https://code.launchpad.net/~jderose/+junk/couchdb + CouchDB 1.4.0 now has quite extensive unit tests, which I'm running + during the build. These tests are (generally) passing fine when building + with pbuilder, and when building in a PPA (i386 and amd64). - I know at least several things are still incorrect in the packaging, but - I wanted to start putting it through its paces as soon as possible. + Note I've not tried a build on armhf yet. - ** Feedback Wanted ** + There are a few unit tests that occasionally fail when building on + Raring, but so far I haven't encountered this when building on Saucy. It + is however possible to get successful builds on Raring, you just might + have to retry a build or two. - I'm also hoping to get some feedback on my plan for CouchDB in Ubuntu - going forward. I have some history with the CouchDB package in Ubuntu - [1][2], and for better or worse, the current CouchDB 1.2.0 package is - largely my doing. + == Reverse Dependencies == - Previously my goal was to stay as close as possible to the CouchDB - package in Debian, changing just enough to split it into the `couchdb` - and `couchdb-bin` binary packages. And my hope was to get the Debian - maintainer to eventually warm up to this split so Ubuntu could just ship - a zero-change sync from Debian. + I've built several CouchDB consumers against my proposed CouchDB package + in a PPA, on both Saucy and Raring. These reverse dependencies have + extensive CouchDB using unit tests and are therefor a good measure of + the correctness of my proposed CouchDB 1.4.0 package, and the quality of + the upstream CouchDB 1.4.0 release. - (FYI, this split is critical for Novacut because it allows us to start - our per-user CouchDB instances via `couchdb-bin`, but without having the - needless system-wide `couchdb` instance running all the time.) + UserCouch: https://launchpad.net/usercouch + * Good coverage of key configuration permutations (bind address, port, basic auth, oauth, file_compression) + * Good coverage of SSL options, both for httpd and the replicator + * Provides good confidence that CouchDB actually starts, and starts in a timely manner, across all config permutations + * IPv4 and IPv6 tests - But I think it's time to change my strategy, time for me to just take - ownership for the CouchDB package in Ubuntu. + Microfiber: https://launchpad.net/microfiber + * Good coverage of core DB, doc, and attachment REST APIs + * Deep tests for _bulk_docs API, testing both non-atomic and all-or-nothing update semantics + * Basic view tests + * Basic replication tests + * IPv4 and IPv6 tests - As CouchDB 1.2.0 is still the newest in Debian (even in unstable and - experimental), I think the current Debian maintainer is probably a bit - too busy with other things to spend much time on CouchDB packaging (hey, - life happens). Plus, I've never heard back from him about my idea of - bringing the couchdb/couchdb-bin split into Debian. + Dmedia: https://launchpad.net/dmedia + * Complex, demanding application with lots of real-world test scenarios + * Extensive view tests with complex map functions (but _count, _sum, and _stats are the only reduce functions Dmedia uses) + * Full-stack replication tests with SSL (and client-side SSL certs) + * Tests for complex conflict scenarios - Whereas I *must* have a working CouchDB package for Saucy, even if it - means me just maintaining it in a PPA, because otherwise Novacut doesn't - work on Saucy, Novacut can't move forward during Saucy. If I'm doing the - work either way, I'd rather it be on the actual

[Bug 1214844] Re: Non-CP1252 characters in passwords are insecure
Florian Weimer of the Debian security team writes: I think the proper fix would be to encode the password in UTF-8 for new encryptions, and try both the old cp1252 method and the new one on decryption. [Bug 573690] Re: Kobil M-IDentity usb dongle : no write access anymore since 10.04
Hello Claude, I just checked your instructions. I have configured the /etc/udev/rules.d like in the FAQ of the migrosbank. Does it make a difference if I dont have a number in front of the name like you have ? kobil-midentity.rules I did not find this text-file in my system: /lib/udev/rules.d/91-permissions.rules I did not run the 32bit libraries, as my system is 32bit Mint 15. I dondt think it ist something about read/write. The programm starts, does the update check and then loads the browser. As soon as I see the browser for 1-2 seconds, it closes and the stick is unmounted. When I start it in the terminal, there are no error posts after the crash. Patrik Nilsson (nipn): laptops has switches too, old rusty switches, which can be replaced =) If it's not touchpad gesture. Actually I can reproduce it easily with Eclipse with new mouse. In project list, move mouse over project name and hold and release right button while moving mouse to the right fast (just a little shake of a hand is enough with sensitive mouse) and you get menu highlighted and auto selected fast. Not sure if it's gtk releated though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410636 Title: Right-click should not pre-light first option, too easy to accidentally select the first Context-menu option.
