[Bug 1221520] [NEW] Blank pages inserted in duplex print job
Public bug reported: I have a Brother HL2270DW printer. I've been using it in Ubuntu since I got it a few years ago. It's always worked fine. Lately, however, it has been inserting a blank page between pages in duplex jobs. For example, if I print two copies of a one-page document with duplex on, it used to print on both sides of one sheet of paper; but now it prints on one side, takes the paper back in as if to print on the back side, spits it out with the back side blank, and then does the same routine on a second sheet of paper. I think it started happening when I upgraded from Quantal to Raring. I haven't been printing a lot lately, so I haven't noticed it until now. I found Bug #292, which seems like the same bug, however 1) I have no scale to fit option checked or even available in any of the print dialogs I've been using, both in CUPS itself, in LibreOffice, and in Okular; and 2) I am having this problem with Raring, even though that bug indicates it should be fixed in Raring. On a hunch, I downgraded the cups-filters package (not the cups package) to the version from Quantal, then restarted CUPS, and the problem went away. I also had to install libqpdf8 from Quantal to fulfill the dependencies of that version of cups-filters. cups-filters: Installed: 1.0.24-2 Candidate: 1.0.34-0ubuntu1.1 Version table: 1.0.34-0ubuntu1.1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring-updates/main i386 Packages 1.0.34-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main i386 Packages *** 1.0.24-2 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status libqpdf8: Installed: 3.0.2-1 Candidate: 3.0.2-1 Version table: *** 3.0.2-1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status According to Bug #292, the problem should have been fixed in cups- filters 1.0.30. I'm guessing that either a) somehow the fix didn't make it into 1.0.30 after all; or b) Ubuntu's package somehow missed the fix, despite the newer upstream version; or c) it's regressed since 1.0.30; or d) this is a similar but unrelated bug. Thankfully I've been able to work around it by using the old version of the package, but who knows if that will work in Saucy. Please let me know how I can help fix this bug. [Bug 1221520] Re: Blank pages inserted in duplex print job
Upon further investigation, this appears to be a regression. Rev 7036 http://bzr.linuxfoundation.org/loggerhead/openprinting/cups- filters/revision/7036#filter/pdftopdf/pdftopdf_processor.cc added a single line: outputno++;: if (param.mirror) { curpage-mirror(); } outputno++; // line added proc.add_page(curpage,param.reverse); // reverse - insert at beginning } } However, looking at the latest revision http://bzr.linuxfoundation.org/loggerhead/openprinting/cups- filters/annotate/head:/filter/pdftopdf/pdftopdf_processor.cc#L299, that line appears to have moved: if (param.mirror) { curpage-mirror(); // TODO? update rect? --- not needed any more } proc.add_page(curpage,param.reverse); // reverse - insert at beginning } outputno++; curpage=proc.new_page(param.page.width,param.page.height); } Interestingly, rev 7036 is not listed anywhere on that page. I'm no expert, so maybe I'm misinterpreting it, but it suggests to me that r7036 was effectively lost in a later merge, resulting in the crucial line moving to the wrong place. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1221520 Title: Blank pages inserted in duplex print job To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-filters/+bug/1221520/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1221030] [NEW] FFe: Sync wordpress 3.6+dfsg-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Public bug reported: Please sync wordpress 3.6+dfsg-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception: WordPress doesn't really backport bug fixes or security fixes to old releases so you are forced to upgrade to new release (like with Google Chrome). This particular update doesn't appear to be a security update but I wouldn't be surprised if a future 3.6.1 is one. Except for test-building the package I haven't done any other testing. Changelog entries since current saucy version 3.5.2+dfsg-1: wordpress (3.6+dfsg-1) unstable; urgency=low * New upstream release. * Improve wp-settings to verify that $_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_PROTO'] exists before accessing it (avoids a PHP notice). Thanks to Paul Dreik sl...@pauldreik.se for the report and the patch. * Document in README.Debian the need to login to /wp-admin/ to complete an upgrade. * Drop useless debian/README.source * Drop 008CVE2008-2392.patch since upstream now disables unfiltered uploads by default. See http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/10692 * Drop 009CVE2008-6767.patch since the backto parameter is validated against a whitelist, and externally triggered upgrades are not a security problem as long as they work. * Update debian/missing-sources with latest versions. * Update upstream l10n. -- Raphaël Hertzog hert...@debian.org Wed, 04 Sep 2013 23:18:58 +0200 ** Affects: wordpress (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New ** Changed in: wordpress (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1221030 Title: FFe: Sync wordpress 3.6+dfsg-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wordpress/+bug/1221030/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 261595]
Hi Irving, thanks for the review. For some reason I did not get/read the notification email from Mozilla. I, too, noticed that there are other places which would deserve attention and use of a similar function. However, I would prefer this patch to go through first, and that we make another bug to (1) identify those code segments/files, (2) discuss the appropriate solution for each and, then, (3) write a patch, which I can help with. So I would ask for this patch to go through as is, since you indicated it is ok. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/261595 Title: Thunderbird corrupts Mailbox when hd is full To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/thunderbird/+bug/261595/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
