[Bug 1096079] Re: boot fails when a mount is a dangling symlink
Looking over this bug, I don't think there's anything we can do here to improve mountall's handling without compromising the guarantee of a consistent, race-free boot. We simply have no way of knowing that this particular tmpfs mount is not required for boot unless the admin marks it so in the /etc/fstab (with the 'nobootwait' option). And we can't reliably interact with the user on console until after the virtual- filesystems event is sent, because this is a prerequisite for udev, and udev needs to poke the hardware to make sure we wind up with the right console drivers. So the system is at an impasse. I certainly agree that we don't want to leave the machine deadlocked with no output on the screen; but architecturally, I just don't see a way to address this corner case without introducing substantial bugs in more common scenarios. ** Changed in: mountall (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1096079 Title: boot fails when a mount is a dangling symlink To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mountall/+bug/1096079/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 691588] Re: boot hangs with two fstab entries that reference the same UUID
Testing here, I see the correct behavior: mountall tries to process both mount entries, can't do so because one of the two filesystem types is wrong for the device, and sends an error prompt to plymouth. [Bug 1096079] Re: boot fails when a tmpfs can't be mounted due to a dangling symlink
I'm still going back and forth on this. There's also bug #1152274, which I'm marking as a duplicate. We really should do something better here, I'm just not sure what. [Bug 1225321] [NEW] Add-on remains enabled after the disable button is pressed
Public bug reported: To replicate: 1: In Firefox, open Tools-Add-ons-extensions 2: Press the Disable button on one of the add-ons 3: Click Restart now when it appears What I expect to happen: Firefox should restart with the add-on disabled What happens instead: Firefox restarts but the add-on is still not disabled. [Bug 183456] Re: Trying to load a sf2 file with asfxload returns sfxload: no memory left
I have tried the small 2L change by Thomas Richter and it works fine, no negative side effects so far. Apparently, the 4GB barrier was a bit of an arbitrary value anyway, you can read about that here: https://lwn.net/Articles/152337/ I found the memmap=2048M\\$6144M workaround proposed on http://www .alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Module-emu10k1 rather ridiculous, even if it doesn't require patching. With Thomas' simple fix making it rather easy for us to solve our problem, let's hope the kernel devs won't change the MAX_DMA32_PFN code too soon so that it doesn't apply anymore. Because I do not believe they will care about 1 or 2 pieces of hardware that will eventually fade into history on all new non-PCI systems... Still, isn't it quite an achievement that we can still use a soundcard that has been released ages ago? BTW: The changes no longer have to be done in arch/x86/include/asm.h but in arch/x86/include/asm/dma.h for recent kernels. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/183456 Title: Trying to load a sf2 file with asfxload returns sfxload: no memory left To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/awesfx/+bug/183456/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
