Hi ,

I guess I have a problem connected to this thread:
I installed latest image ubuntu-13.04-desktop-i386.iso,
on the laptop, I have HP printer connected to it and
work well, but when I share it I can see it and connect to
it from windows machine but not send a test page print.

[Bug 1181777] Re: kvm: freeze a guest with a NIC PCI passthrough

2013-09-18 Thread Nigel Jones
After getting the bug mail for this bug and reading it with interest, I
happened to run into this issue today myself and did some investigation
at a seabios level.

My original hit of the issue was with RHEL, but I reproduced it with the
same card (Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express
Gigabit Ethernet Controller (PCI ID 10ec:8168)) on Ubuntu saucy.

The logs in QEMU logs list however the follow:

virsh edit'ing the VM and adding rom bar='off'/ to the hostdev
entry to read:

hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'

address domain='0x' bus='0x06' slot='0x00' function='0x0'/
  /source
  rom bar='off'/
  address type='pci' domain='0x' bus='0x00' slot='0x05'
function='0x0'/
/hostdev

caused the message to go away.

I applied the same element on the RHEL machine, which also seemed to
solve that problem, so it's possible that precise also needs this
option.

I'm suspecting what is happening is that the ROM on the network devices
is confusing seabios/coreboot but need to do some more digging first.

[Bug 1227092] [NEW] LXC Container will not start

2013-09-18 Thread Justin Shafer
Public bug reported:

I was able to run lxc version lxc_0.9.0-0ubuntu23 with Ubuntu Touch
running kernel version 2.6.35, without AppArmor or PSTORE , without
having a mountpoint sys/fs/security (security filesystem), with a cgroup

But with lxc version lxc_1.0.0~alpha1-0ubuntu4 I get this error starting up:

I have also had to add this manually for my fstab as update-fstab does
not find my vendor partition, nor has it mounted /system under in my lxc

[Bug 1227172] [NEW] wrong upstream project

2013-09-18 Thread Philip Crotwell
Public bug reported:

On
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sheepdog

it says
sheepdog: distributed storage system for KVM/QEMU

but also says the upstream connection is:

Project SheepDog ⇒ trunk

Project to create church management software to aid Pastors and other
Workers with maintaining and organizing the non-spiritual aspects of the
Church, so that they can focus more of their energy on doing GOD's work.

I am pretty sure that the sheepdog ubuntu package us unrelated to the
sheepdog upstream project.

Re: [Bug 1227092] Re: LXC Container will not start

2013-09-18 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for filing this bug. You are running with an older kernel which
has the ns cgroup, but the package source from which you built your
package doesn't ahve support for ns cgroup (because it has been
deprecated for quite some time). If you switch to the ubuntu-lxc ppa,

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-lxc/daily
sudo apt-get update

the lxc version there should work.

[Bug 1217950] Re: SSH public key isn't created in vagrant cloud images

2013-09-18 Thread allpoints
As a point of information, the virtual instance works fine on the second
boot.

i.e. if you vagrant up: vagrant halt; vagrant up everything works as
expected with the exception that the post provisioning/configuration
process will have failed.

System configuration:
  Ubuntu image:
http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/vagrant/raring/20130917/raring-server-cloudimg-amd64-vagrant-disk1.box
Host Distribution/Release: Linux Mint 14/Nadia which is based on Ubuntu
Quantal
  Vagrant version: 1.3.1
VirtualBox package: Oracle maintained, version 4.2.18-88780~Ubuntu~precise

As an additional check, I attempted to SSH in manually after the VM had
booted. The debug output is attached.

[Bug 1227252] [NEW] Upgrade from precise to precise SRU maas unconditionally disabled system DHCP

2013-09-18 Thread James Troup
Public bug reported:

We have a MAAS installation that was installed with original precise
MAAS (0.1+bzr482+dfsg-0ubuntu1) that was using the system (ISC) dhcpd.

When we upgraded it to the SRU MAAS
(1.2+bzr1373+dfsg-0ubuntu1~12.04.1), it unconditionally¹ disabled the
ISC dhcpd by shipping a '/etc/init/isc-dhcp-server.override' file.

The next time the isc-dhcp-server package was upgraded, our dhcpd
stopped and didn't start back up.

AFAIK (and the docs appear to confirm this), running MAAS with your
own DHCP server is a supported configuration, so it seems like the
upgrade process could be a little more flexible.

--

¹ At least, I can't see anything in the maintainer scripts or debconf
stuff that would mean this file is ever not installed on upgrade.

[Bug 1227327] [NEW] ceph osd repair fails with assert(missing.num_missing() == 0)

2013-09-18 Thread James Troup
Public bug reported:

After an unfortunate incident with dhcpd going away, we lost 3/6 of
our ceph cluster and had to remotely power cycle them to get them
back. Now that everything is back up, the ceph cluster has mostly
recovered but we had a couple of pg's stuck in an inconsistent state,
so I ran 'ceph osd repair' on one of the osds involved in the
inconsistent pgs. It ran for a while and fixed some things, and then
exploded with this:

[Bug 1227313] [NEW] Error parsing lxc-start apparmor profile

2013-09-18 Thread Andre Nathan
Public bug reported:

The lxc-start package reads its apparmor profile from
/proc/$PID/attr/current but does not remove the trailing newline
character. When trying to run an unconfined container, this causes
comparisons with the unconfined string in the source code to fail, and
the apparmor profile is set, even when there's no need to do so. This,
in turn, makes it impossible to run containers with a read-only /proc
filesystem.

[Bug 1227370] [NEW] ceph osd weight get reset to 1 on daemon restart

2013-09-18 Thread James Troup
Public bug reported:

AFAIK, the documented¹ way to set weights for an OSD is with:

  ceph osd crush reweight {osd-id} {weight}

And this works... but only for as long as the ceph-osd daemon is
running. Because, with ceph 0.48.3-0ubuntu1~cloud0 from the Folsom
pocket of the Ubuntu Cloud Archive on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, the weight
gets reset to 1 every time the daemon is (re)started by the upstart
job.

The problem is the upstart job does this:

weight=$(ceph-conf --cluster=$cluster --name=osd.$id --lookup
osd_crush_weight || :)

i.e. it expects to find something like this:

   [osd.38]
osd_crush_weight = 2.0

in /etc/ceph/ceph.conf. However that file is managed by juju, and if
I edit it in-situ, it'll get overwritten. As it stands, I'm unable to
reweight an OSD and make it stick with ceph deployed by juju.

This is fixed/changed in newer versions. The current releases will
weight based on df reported size. Or, weighting on start can simply be
diasabled... That is probably the thing to do for 0.48.

[Bug 1157105] Re: [Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8740w] suspend/resume failure

2013-09-18 Thread Eugene Pelekhay
Bug is still there,
It's 100% reprodusable with following scenario:
1. Suspend undocked notebook
2. Dock it to the docking station
3. Resume - hang

From time to time it happens without that

Thanks,

[Bug 1226952] [NEW] Option -ProfileManager does not work without (bogus) -u

2013-09-18 Thread era
Public bug reported:

You need a secret extra option if you want to run the Firefox profile
manager.

Steps to repro:

bash$ firefox -ProfileManager

Expected outcome:

Profile manager dialog box

Actual outcome:

New Firefox browser window in your current default profile

Workaround:

bash$ firefox -u bugger -ProfileManager

The -u option is not visible e.g. in firefox --help output, but somehow
it actually exists, and allows you to work around this problem (can't
remember where I discovered it, Google no doubt?).

I'm sorry if this is a duplicate, this problem has existed since
basically forever but I was unable to find a report in Launchpad.

[Bug 1226952] Re: Option -ProfileManager does not work without (bogus) -u

2013-09-18 Thread era
** Description changed:

You need a secret extra option if you want to run the Firefox profile
  manager.

  Steps to repro:

  bash$ firefox -ProfileManager

  Expected outcome:

- Profile manager dialog box
+ New Firefox instance displaying the Profile Manager dialog box

  Actual outcome:

- New Firefox browser window in your current default profile
+ New Firefox browser window in your current default profile, existing
+ Firefox instance if one was running

  Workaround:

  bash$ firefox -u bugger -ProfileManager

The -u option is not visible e.g. in firefox --help output, but somehow
it actually exists, and allows you to work around this problem (can't
remember where I discovered it, Google no doubt?).

+ The -u option requires an argument (apparently, a profile name) but you
+ can put anything there, it doesn't seem to matter.
+
I'm sorry if this is a duplicate, this problem has existed since
basically forever but I was unable to find a report in Launchpad.
+
+ Historical proof:
+
+ * From 2009: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1323430
+ * From 2011: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=9t=2359133
+ * SuSE 2009:
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/network-internet/403948-firefox-profilemanager-doesnt-work.html
+ * Win 2011: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/807487
+ * Alternative workaround, haven't tried:
http://www.usmessageboard.com/computers/85692-firefox-profile-manager-in-ubuntu.html
 (hopelessly meandering thread, don't open)
+
+ Possibly relevant upstream bugs:
+
+ * https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=317903
+ * https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=297470 (duplicate of less
focused 264181)
+ * https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=264181
+ * https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=297618 (duplicate of unobvious
bug)
+
+ If the intention is that -ProfileManager is not available, it should not
+ be displayed in --help (but that would be a pity). If it is supported,
+ it should work (duh).

[Bug 1218129] Re: runstat has a carry bug

2013-09-18 Thread Andrew Pollock
I've actually found a pretty good way to reproduce the bug:

runstat sleep 0.9; cat /tmp/cronutils-$LOGNAME/sleep.stat | grep elapsed
sleep,elapsed_time,1.-098452563,s

seems to be doing it very reliably, so now I have a good verification
for the proposed update fixing it.

[Bug 1226961] [NEW] Krita gets extremely slow while handling trnasparent .png files

2013-09-18 Thread Fabien NGUYEN
Public bug reported:

I usually work on 4000 x 4000px @ 400 dpi files and I happen to insert
.png files in my document by :

+ importing the layer from an imported .png file in Krita ;
+ pasting from The GIMP as Monitor.

Some parts of the layer are transparent.

Every time I handle this layer and work on the layer itself (rotate,
screw, resize), Krita freezes for a while when I try to undo one of this
operations, for several minutes sometimes. No apparent disk access
during this undo.

Memory handle problem ?
