2013-09-23 Thread Thomas Hood
Dnsmasq gets its nameserver addresses from resolvconf via the file
/var/run/dnsmasq/resolv.conf. That /etc/resolv.conf contains only
127.0.0.1 is correct.

[Bug 1229023] Re: Nameservers are not setup correctly

2013-09-23 Thread Thomas Hood
You don't need to set `listen-address=127.0.0.1` in /etc/dnsmasq.conf;
dnsmasq listens on that address by default.

If dnsmasq is not being used then you have a nonstandard configuration.
If you do not need a nonstandard configuration then I suggest that you
purge the dnsmasq package and reinstall it.

[Bug 1228955] Re: dnsmasq changeds virtualbox guests PTR queries into A queries

2013-09-23 Thread Bar Ziony
Hi Thomas,

Because when I disable dnsmasq from NetworkManager config, and I get the
my regular DNS server into resolv.conf (of my host), the Virtualbox
guests behave normal.

so I thought if the issue occurs with dnsmasq, and doesn't occur without
it, then it's dnsmasq's fault and not Virtualbox (which can't really
know if dnsmasq is even used or not).

[Bug 1228955] Re: dnsmasq changeds virtualbox guests PTR queries into A queries

2013-09-23 Thread Bar Ziony
Hi Thomas,

This is indeed not a dnsmasq issue.

It is Virtualbox, turning PTR queries into A queries when the name
server on the host's resolv.conf file is from 127.0.0.0/8 segment.

I'm still investigating why.

Hi Bar,

I can reproduce the behavior: Debian 7 in VM with NATted network
interface on VirtualBox 4.2.16 on Ubuntu 13.04 with the NetworkManager-
controlled dnsmasq instance running. Using wireshark on the host I see
127.0.1.1 receiving an A query instead of a PTR query.

[Bug 1226855] Re: Cannot use open-iscsi inside LXC container

2013-09-23 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug.

Your example command says '$ip:$port'. Is the iscsid running on the host
or in the container? Is $ip the ip of the host?

If $ip is the host ip and you just want iscsiadm in the guest to talk to iscsid
on the
host, that should work.

There are several ways depending on your configuration where netlink sockets
might be being attempted. Could you show strace -f output to show exactly
which fails? (iscsiadm itself should only fail if you're trying offload, which
it
doesn't look like you are)

Netlink sockets are per-netns, so if you want to be able to connect to a
netlink socket from another netns, then something will need to open a
socket from the target netns and pass that into the other ns. (This
could be arranged with setns, but only from the host).

[Bug 1228485] Re: smbd and nmbd can start up before their respective apparmor profiles are loaded

2013-09-23 Thread Steve Langasek
This is not an appropriate change to apply to the samba package in its
current form, because we are not shipping an apparmor profile for either
smbd or nmbd by default. If you have a local apparmor profile, you will
need to be responsible for local modifications as well. It's not
reasonable to have each upstart job provide apparmor integration that
won't be used on most systems (and indeed, the upstart jobs need to run
correctly on systems that don't have apparmor installed - e.g., in
Debian).

[Bug 1229275] [NEW] juju destroy-environment also destroys nodes that are not controlled by juju

2013-09-23 Thread Andres Rodriguez
Public bug reported:

In a saucy MAAS environment, I had machines allocated to the admin user
that were deployed using maas-cli (not using juju). These were perfectly
running machines. However, while trying to use juju I noticed that a
'juju destroy-environment' put the machines that were 'allocated to
admin' back to a 'Ready' state. These machines were not being used /
controller by juju, but rather by maas-cli.

This means that juju destroys all of the machines regardless of whether
they are being used by juju or not.

[Bug 1229257] [NEW] assertion failure warnings output

2013-09-23 Thread LaMont Jones
Public bug reported:

When I run various nova commands, stderr gets assertion failure warnings
spewed on it.

Unsure if this is a gobject issue, or a nova client issue, so marking it
as both.

prior to 1.10.2, we where using snapshots from git which caused the

[Bug 1180777] Re: RDP traffic freeze on quiet network

2013-09-23 Thread Serge Hallyn
** Summary changed:

- Windows 7 VM freeze on Ubuntu 12.04 KVM
+ RDP traffic freeze on quiet network

** Description changed:

+ To summarize what I think has been found so far,
+
+ 1. The main symptom is that RDP connections hang after some time
+ 2. This bug affects qemu 1.0 .. 1.6.5
+ 3. This bug affects at least windows xp and windows 7 guests
+ 4. Keeping another network connection open, such as vnc, prevents the RDP
connection from hanging.
+
+
  Hi,

I have recently setup a Windows 7 VM on KVM and started using it through
  remote desktop.

What happens is that, after some hours of usage, the remote desktop
connection freezes. I thought it was a remmina bug, as the it was enough
to kill and restart it to successfully connect again to the VM.

However, today I've switched to a different RDP client (2X Client
chromium app) and the freeze just happened again!

  Some information:
  - the host and the VM are completely idle when the freeze occurs
  - I've tried sniffing the network packets toward the RDP port during the
freeze and found that the client is sending packets but no packet is sent back

Could this be a KVM issue? How can I further debug this one (I expect
  the freeze to happen again...)?

[Bug 1226855] Re: Cannot use open-iscsi inside LXC container

2013-09-23 Thread Clint Byrum
I can't answer all of the questions, but the basic idea is that an LXC
container could mount an iscsi target from inside the container with
very little if any cooperation from the host's user space.

I believe other similar systems like nbd use ioctl's to configure such
devices, but iscsi uses netlink which I believe is the krux of the
problem.

[Bug 1047483] Re: Ubuntu 12.10 Intel GMA4500M Display is blank upon bootup

Hi,

I recognize this problem on a Packard Bell Easynote TK36-AV-105.

This laptop also contains a Integrated Intel GMA4500.

Is this a issue which is going to be solved in future releases of Linux/Ubuntu?

[Bug 1229045] [NEW] FFe: Sync steam 1.0.0.39-2 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (non-free)

2013-09-23 Thread Felix Geyer
Public bug reported:

Please sync steam 1.0.0.39-2 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (non-
free)

Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:
steam isn't in Ubuntu yet (except a totally different package with the same
name in lucid).

steam is a very popular gaming platform so it would be nice to have an easy way
to install it. The .deb package provided by the vendor unfortunately adds its
own repository to the APT source list without even asking.

[Bug 63222] Re: Inconsistency detected by ld.so

2013-09-23 Thread Rahul Ghose
This happens when I try to run chromium-browser.

Inconsistency detected by ld.so: ../sysdeps/x86_64/dl-machine.h: 460:
elf_machine_rela_relative: Assertion `((reloc-r_info)  0x) ==
8' failed!

By the way, looks like a resume after suspend bug. I had my laptop in
suspended mode.

I found this: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=574657

[Bug 1203520] Re: 10de:1040 snd_hda_codec_hdmi (via pavucontrol or applications playing sound) freezes Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

2013-09-23 Thread TEN
To keep this at Incomplete is getting beyond the limits of what a user
can install on the one production machine around (not everybody has an
entire farm), while Ubuntu 13+ cannot currently be booted from USB
either.

Please see also developments at https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1169984
(where I had been told to open a new bug) #124, 127 et seq. which do
seem to indicate similar causes after all, i.e. a lot of people are now
blacklisting this snd_hda_codec_hdmi because they have to, and though
they'd need it.

[Bug 592434] Re: ssh -X user@machine hangs when using exit to terminate

2013-09-23 Thread Ritesh Khadgaray
** Description changed:

ssh -X user@server hangs when using exit to terminate

  Steps to reproduce:
  user@client:~$ ssh -X user@server
  user@server:~$ gedit

At this point gedit from server will run locally. Closing the program
and returning to the terminal you run:

  user@server:~$ exit
  logout

At this point the terminal hangs on the echo logout, but does not return to
the client prompt. The action has been consistent when connecting to a server
running opensolaris or ubuntu 8.04.
The client is using Ubuntu 10.04 and the server is using 8.04, and using
default password authentication. As you will see in the video attached I can
confirm the issue when using a clean Ubuntu 10.04 as a client and Ubuntu 8.04
as the server, using default password authentication.

However there are a few things you can do to work around this issue.
- -When logging out press Ctrl-D
-When logging out with exit and it hangs, press Ctrl-C
-If you would like to simply use gedit on another computer use the following
command:
- ssh -X lucas@machine gedit
+ $ dbus-launch gedit
+

- ProblemType: Bug
- DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04
- Package: openssh-server 1:5.3p1-3ubuntu3
- ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.36-generic-pae 2.6.32.11+drm33.2
- Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic-pae i686
- Architecture: i386
  Date: Thu Jun 10 17:34:26 2010
- InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx - Release i386 (20100429)
- ProcEnviron:
-  LANG=en_US.utf8
-  SHELL=/bin/bash
- SourcePackage: openssh

[Bug 1195483] Re: Installation, Live and Check disc do not start on Asus ZenBook Prime UX31A

2013-09-23 Thread Timo Kluck
@Christopher: will do.

I'm in the process of bisecting. The problem has been introduced somewhere
between v3.10-rc1 and v3.10-rc2. More precisely, it has been introduced between
v3.10-rc1 and commit fea0f9f. Looking at the logs, the latter is a likely
candidate:
---
Pull drm fixes from Dave Airlie:
Just a few straggling fixes I hoovered up, and an intel fixes pull
from Daniel which fixes some regressions, and some mgag200 fixes from
  Matrox.
---
I'm bisecting that branch now.

linux-image-3.9.0-030900-generic_3.9.0-030900.201304291257_amd64.deb

from the mainline directory and will be testing these once I have an
opportunity to reboot the machine / once the problem appears again. I
hard booted this morning and without remembering I needed to do
something, the machine came up with 3.8.0-30 as it normally would. I
haven't had a problem yet, but it's only been an hour. The problem is I
don't know how to reliably reproduce this problem.
