Please don't play BTS ping-pong. That's how the packaged PHP works. [Bug 1227937] Re: lxc-start is unconfined but has a profile defined
Here is my understanding: 1. so long as a container has a profile specified, then if the apparmor policies have not been loaded, the container start will fail. 2. In the lxc-android-config case, the container has lxc.aa_profile = unconfined. Therefore it is possible for lxc-start (which normally has its own somewhat flexible profile) to run unconfined, but there will be no difference for the actual container. We consider the container to be the untrustworthy thing. per (1) if it is supposed to run in a profile and that profile is not loaded, the start will correctly fail. However lxc-start itself may run unconfined. I'm open to suggestions for how to enforce that it should be confined and is in fact running unconfined. But I can't think of any. The user could, and sometimes does, purposely run it unconfined, and I don't want to break that. I'd like to (after saucy) break /etc/init/lxc.conf into /etc/init/lxc- aa.conf and /etc/init/lxc-autostart.conf. lxc-net.conf would start on runlevel 2345, lxc-autostart.conf would start on started lxc-net.conf and lxc-aa.conf. lxc-aa.conf would start on filesystem, to load the apparmor policies as early as possible. We could then also have lxc- start fail if lxc-aa.conf is not started. The way to disable apparmor, in that case, would be to set LXC_AA=false in /etc/default/lxc. That way lxc-aa.conf could still start even if aa is disabled for lxc. ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: High = Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1227937 Title: lxc-start is unconfined but has a profile defined To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1227937/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1237265] Re: clamav verified ineffective
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System - About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete. [Bug 1237615] [NEW] python-bson-ext does not encode binary in Apache with mod_wsgi
Public bug reported: In a component of MAAS we're using python-bson to dump out structures containing binary data. Everything works fine in development, but breaks in production under Apache. In Python 2.x (we're using 2.7) it's necessary to wrap str/bytes objects in bson.binary.Binary; the encoder then does an isinstance check and encodes these objects as binary data - or \x05 e_name binary, from the spec. However, under Apache our binary data is being encoded as string data - or \x02 e_name string, from the spec. When decoding this becomes a unicode object, which chokes the next part of the MAAS's processing. I think this is due to the C extension module. Apache and/or mod_wsgi does some weird things with Python contexts (I don't know much about this, just enough to know it can be a problem), and I suspect the PyObject_IsInstance(value, state-Binary) condition in bson/_cbsonmodule.c is failing because state-Binary is referencing a different Binary type than MAAS's code is. [Bug 1237071] Re: Incompatible with virtualenv
This bug is a duplicate of #988471. Sorry for not checking for other byobu bugs, but launchpad did search for possible duplicates and showed me something that wasn't even close, so I figured I was first. The user who has Python only in /usr/local has installed the Ubuntu Byobu package without the required dependencies. I'm not sure why they think the Byobu package should cope with this. I think it's safe to say that software that gets installed and used is also going to be abuse. It's the software maintainer's job to ensure that the software can survive that abuse, but inevitably there are limits. Using virtualenv to create a preferred (and unexpected) python can be considered abuse. Failing to install required prerequisites is also abuse. For some software, setting strange locales in the environment might be considered abuse. You have to make a decision about what sort of abuse this package can withstand and I don't think many software maintainers are interested in making their software work in the face of missing prerequisites. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to byobu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1237071 Title: Incompatible with virtualenv To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/byobu/+bug/1237071/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1232814] Re: Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to re-enable
Dirty workaround: 1. install and configure uswsusp if you haven't already 2. backup pm-suspend (it's just a symlink to ../lib/pm-utils/bin/pm-action) cp /usr/sbin/pm-suspend /usr/sbin/pm-suspend-bak 3. replace it with s2disk cp /usr/sbin/s2disk /usr/sbin/pm-suspend You can now hibernate with s2disk from the menu via suspend entry, but have no entry for actually bringing the system into suspend mode. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1232814 Title: Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to re-enable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-session/+bug/1232814/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1197789] Re: Upstart upgrades are creating problematic processes
So the processes are almost certainly tied to the mountall-shell job. Does the problem happen after every reboot? When it does occur, you can confirm that it's the mountall-shell job by running 'sudo service mountall-shell status', which probably shows that the service is start/running. There's nothing in mountall that would trigger this behavior because of a plymouth failure; anything that caused mountall to fail should also have printed a line out in the upstart log. So this looks like mountall is instead dying with a signal from outside. Any idea what could be causing such a thing on your system? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1197789 Title: Upstart upgrades are creating problematic processes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mountall/+bug/1197789/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
