Re: [Bug 1247803] Re: dnsmasq temporarily breaks DNS resolution when starting for the first time

2013-11-13 Thread Simon Kelley
On 09/11/13 19:07, Philip Potter wrote:
I agree that the postinst is a better place than the init script to run
 resolvconf -u.

I'm not sure that it should be conditional on IGNORE_RESOLVCONF though -
given that the update script will be run next time anything touches
resolvconf, what's to be gained by not running it in the postinst? And
why stop there? Why not also make it conditional on ENABLED=0?

I've created a branch with an unconditional resolvconf -u in the
postinst. I'm new to launchpad and bazaar so I'm not sure what the next
step is -- do I propose a merge? Do I attach a patch to this ticket?

Once this has gone though Ubunutu processes, please send my a diff and
I'll propogate it to the Debian package.

Cheers,

Simon.

[Bug 1181334] Re: i386 required to install amd64

2013-11-13 Thread Gavin Panella
I think the fix here is fairly simple: in maasserver.api.pxeconfig(),
when trying to boot a machine that we've not seen before, we should
consult BootImages before automatically defaulting to i386.

[Bug 1010625] Re: named logs are not being reported in logwatch

2013-11-13 Thread Craig
@Robie: Any progreess here? I noticed that awhile back I had
inadvertently changed the status from triaged to confirmed. I am unable
to change it back to triaged. Robie, could you please change the status
back to triaged?

Is there some reason why this has not gone anywhere? Earlier I proposed
two possible fixes:

1) Remove the 'LogFile = messages' line completely from all of the
aforementioned .conf files. The result will be that the default
location(s) will be searched/parsed for messages. The current default is
'All' This is simple and straightforward. Or...

2) Change the 'LogFile = messages' line to 'LogFile = syslog' in all of
the aforementioned .conf files.

Robie, could you comment on these? Good? Bad? If either of them are
acceptable, could we move forward? If neither are acceptable, could you
suggest an alternative?

Thanks.

[Bug 1250922] [NEW] dhclient: No DHCPOFFERS received

2013-11-13 Thread Håvard Wahl Kongsgård
Public bug reported:

I have 14 x Dell c6100 servers running ubuntu 12.04 Lts. Plus 2x
running ubuntu 10 lts (they work fine). Have been running fine for a
year. The systems are updated regularly. After a update + reboot they
fail to get a IP from the DHCP server.

In the syslog I see that the dhclient dhcpdiscover on eth0 to 255...
then dhclient: No DHCPOFFERS received

The onboard chip is: Intel 82576
The DHCP server is also running Ubuntu 12.04 lts.

Have there been any changes to the dhcp-client that might explain this.

I have tried disabling ufw and apparmor, but still nowhere.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.

Could you please explain what you mean by the box was dead? Do you
mean that the input box was not accepting keyboard input?

Could you please run

   sudo apt-get install -f

to try and complete the installation? If that doesn't work, then

  sudo dpkg-reconfigure postfix

may also work. Please let us know how that goes.

[Bug 1220950] Re: [MIR] open-vm-tools

2013-11-13 Thread Michael Terry
What's the maintenance story with libdumbnet? It is orphaned in Debian
and seems slightly bitrotten. For example, the configure check for
libcheck doesn't look in a multiarch directory (not that it matters, we
disregard test results, but it's a sign of negelect).

[Bug 1250745] Re: bumblebee recommends non-existing virtualgl package

2013-11-13 Thread Vincent Cheng
Although virtualgl isn't yet packaged for Debian/Ubuntu (it's on my todo
list), virtualgl works as a drop-in replacement for primus. I've kept
the recommendation in case users pick up virtualgl from a 3rd party
source (i.e. the Bumblebee PPA), and because it's still recommended as
the default bridge by upstream.

Also, if anything needs to be fixed in bumblebee/bbswitch/primus, I
would really appreciate it if patches were forwarded to me upstream in
Debian instead; there's no need to introduce unnecessary diffs...

  nvidia-settings-331 (section: main)

Also, please include nvidia persistenced (see bug #1246735)

Note: the two drivers have transitional packages for nvidia-319 and
nvidia-319-updates. The nvidia-settings packages do the same with
  nvidia-settings-319 and nvidia-settings-319-updates.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-11-13 Thread Norbert
Thank you for your work, William!

I installed packages from ppa:attente/modifier-only-input-switch and now:
* default Super+Space, Ctrl, Shift works;
* non-latin shortcuts work normally;
*Ctrl+Shift+C/V, in gnome-terminal work too;
in Unity session.

But there is a regression.
I can't switch keyboard layouts in GNOME FlashBack and GNOME FlashBack (without
effects)
sessions.
I do rm -rf ~/.* on each update of packages (I have clean Ubuntu 13.10 system
only for testing), so I hope that my result is reliable. But this need
confirmation from other users. So, please test keyboard layout switching in
GNOME sessions.

[Bug 1071453] Re: Dolphin doesn't store samba share password

2013-11-13 Thread David Dimovski
Tested on my Kubuntu 12.04.3 64Bit with KDE 4.8.5 and Dolphin 2.1 with
activated kwallet. It's working like s charm!

My test scenario:
1.) Packages has been installed from the build of Jonathan. I was using the
amd64 packages.
2.) Opened Dolphin and clicked on my samba entry. Kwallet was asking for a
password then the dolphin window for password appeared. So I typed my
credentials and checked the remember password box.
3.) I closed kwallet and repeated Step 2. This time the dolhin window for
password appeared with my saved credentials so I just have to click ok.
4.) Restart computer, result the same as Step 3.

No other problems/issues where find till yet.

[Bug 1250043] Re: Unexpected crash in commandline mode Ubuntu 12.10 (initctl: Event failed)

2013-11-13 Thread ThomasSpr
I will test the issue with this build as soon as I can (probably in 8
hours).

Should I reduced some partitions and keep the 12.10 version on the
system and install the trusty build OR should I just remove the 12.10
version and install the trusty build in the space currently occupied by
the 12.10 version?

[Bug 1174374] Re: libreoffice-calc crashes/hangs desktop on Ubuntu 12.10 and 13.04 when opening a .xlsx file

2013-11-13 Thread Michael Jastram
@Bryan

In that case; did you try my instructions

Actually, really strange, the bug just disappeared. Even with the Intel
graphics, I cannot crash X11 any more. Therefore, I cannot try that fix
any more, either.

I didn't even change anything, but here is what may have fixed the
problem: My machine (Lenovo W500) has two graphics cards, Intel and ATI.
I usually use Intel. To troubleshoot this issue, I changed to ATI (via
BIOS). After changing back to Intel, the bug was gone from my system.

I don't think the reboot did it, as I rebooted before, which didn't fix
the problem. Maybe by booting with ATI, some X11 configuration files
were changed, that for whatever reason prevented this bug from
materializing, even after switching back to Intel.

Anyway, thanks for looking into this, and for giving such a prompt
reply.

[Bug 1250181] Re: Duplicate files in winning path should prevent updates

2013-11-13 Thread Vincent Ladeuil
I bricked my phone while trying to update it with system upgrade on the
phone (via the UI, not via 'adb shell system-image-cli -c trusty-
proposed -b 0 -v).

I was running image #15 at the time.

I failed to upgrade to image #20 (~260M wow) with an undecipherable
error message (mainly because the file name displayed was too long).

Since the progress bar behavior was a bit... surprising (went over 100,
~110, oops, let's get back to ~90) I tried again, same error.

After several attempts, trying to keep the phone from suspending and
watching the progress bar going backwards even before reaching 100, I
resigned (I didn't have IRC access at that point to get some feedback).

Later in the day, image #17 was proposed. Huh ? Still missing IRC access
I thought some bug was detected server side and the images were re-
shuffled and happily tried that.

The download went well, I tapped the install restart... rebooted to
the google logo and it's still there :-/

[Bug 1250745] Re: bumblebee recommends non-existing virtualgl package

2013-11-13 Thread Christian A. Reiter
Ok, thanks.
I just did not want to push this to upstream as I did not know if this really
was forgotten. The case here was more likely for me: that you already know
about it, and I just not ;-)
It's the first time I tried to apply a deb patch - sorry for the unneeded work
;-)

[Bug 1249979] Re: r8169 Ethernet driver doesn't work

2013-11-13 Thread Cocodude
Hi,

I just tried with 3.12.0-031200-generic and although I don't get the
dmesg errors, it doesn't detect the Ethernet cable or does DHCP client
work. So, the evidence suggests this isn't entirely fixed upstream yet.

uname -a: Linux flibble 3.12.0-031200-generic #201311071835 SMP Thu Nov
7 23:36:07 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Here are the relevant bits of dmesg from the 3.12 kernel:

[0.760049] r8169 Gigabit Ethernet driver 2.3LK-NAPI loaded
[0.760074] pci :00:06.0: setting latency timer to 64
[0.760321] ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [APC3] enabled at IRQ 18
[0.760357] r8169 :01:0a.0 (unregistered net_device): not PCI Express
[0.760645] r8169 :01:0a.0 eth0: RTL8169sb/8110sb at 0xc9c72000,
00:21:27:c9:5f:cf, XID 1000 IRQ 18
[0.760648] r8169 :01:0a.0 eth0: jumbo features [frames: 7152 bytes, tx
checksumming: ok]
[ 11.032543] r8169 :01:0a.0 eth0: link down
[ 11.032586] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready

The link doesn't go up with the cable plugged in and I can confirm the
connection is just fine because it works on the motherboard slot (eth1)
still. There are no 'rtl_phyar_cond == 0' warnings any more though.

** Tags added: apport-collected trusty

** Description changed:

On every boot all Kernels newer than 2.6.33-02063306 completely freeze
on my Acer Aspire 1510 notebook. When the kernel freezes the fan gets
louder and i can't switch ttys anymore nor use the magic sysrq
combinations for a safe reboot so i have to hard reset the laptop by
pressing the power key for a while.

This happens regardless of the installed ubuntu version. At the moment i
have a dual boot of lucid and precise and the bug is still present with
the 3.2 linux kernel on precise although it works fine when i boot it
  with the current lucid kernel.

I've made a picture of the freeze using the 3.2 linux kernel booting it
with the --debug and without the quiet and splash kernel parameters.
I'll upload it as soon as possible.

[Bug 898853] Re: Touch: Unity hijacks multitouch gestures

2013-11-13 Thread Owais Lone
** Description changed:

It seems that unity hijacks multitouch input, this renders 3rd party
  multitouch apps useless.

  Steps to reproduce:

- 1 Install touchegg by sudo apt-get install touchegg
- 2 Start touchegg in terminal
- 3 Try out some multi-touch gestures and notice only upto 2 finger touch
is recognized
- 4 Now either use metacity, gnome-shell or compiz (with unity plugin
disabled) as your window manager
- 5 Repeat 2, 3 and notice all gestures defined in
~/.config/touchegg/touchegg.conf work fine.

- I think the best solution here is to remove multi-touch capabilities from
unity and put them in a separate compiz plugin like drag handles is now. This
would allow easy customization of gestures and the plugin can be turned off so
3rd party apps can take control.

[Bug 1247712] Re: Unable to install Broadcom STA wireless dirver on 3.8.0-33 / 3.8.0-29 kernel via jockey-gtk

2013-11-13 Thread Alberto Milone
Jockey's log confirms that the program simply triggers the problem when
unbinding and then rebinding the driver (hence the driver_bind() call in
the backtrace), which in turn calls driver_probe_device(), etc. up to
local_pci_probe() which is what fails.

To sum it up, it's not a bug in Jockey. The broadcom driver is the
problem here.

[Bug 1242029] Re: openjdk-7 crashed while running vuze

2013-11-13 Thread JJ
I get a very similar crash ( libgobject-2.0.so )when using a brand new Eclipse
ADT bundle from Android on a fairly new install of Kubuntu and opening any
other directory than the default ~/workspace.
I might get it to start with workspace in ~/cordova but then it will crash when
importing a project anyways.
Mine is a 32 bit installation.

[Bug 1250759] [NEW] gnome-control-center sound-nua does not change from internal speakers to external soundcard automatically

[Bug 1250761] [NEW] Kernel of 12.04.3 LTS netinstall image too old

2013-11-13 Thread Rainer König
Public bug reported:

Testing new hardware with Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS.

Downloading ISO image and installing - NICs work fine.

Trying to install from PXE using the Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS netinstall image
- No NICs detected

Comparing:

ISO Image installation provides Kernel 3.8.

PXE Image installation provides Kernel 3.2 which is not mature enough
for new Intel NICs.

Why are the ISO image kernel and the netinstall kernel not in sync?

[Bug 1242413] Re: [SRU] nautilus-dropbox needs a dependency on libappindicator1

2013-11-13 Thread Gilles Gravier
Hi!

Yes, enabling the -proposed repository and triggering an update
automatically (with the update of nautilus-dropbox) triggers the
installation of libappindicator1 and its dependency libindicator7.

So all good for me!

Thanks,
Gilles.

[Bug 911210] Re: Kernel freeze on Acer Aspire 1510 since Maverick

2013-11-13 Thread Karl-Felix Glatzer
I tried installing 14.04 via netboot but could not run the Detect
Disks step so i was not able to create a root partition. The Detect
Network Configuration step also tried to load yenta_socket but i was
able to skip it and still had a working network connection.

I resorted to installing 14.04 from my working 10.04 install via
debootstrap and tested both the stock 14.04 kernel (3.12.0-2-generic)
and the latest trusty mainline kernel (3.12.0-031200-generic). On both
kernels i get the freeze when either yenta_socket is loaded on boot or
from a terminal via modprobe.
